Tips for low functioning littles and tooth brushing

╔═ . ☾ . ══════════════════ hello my darling stars! i think it's teeth time, don't you?

i know it can sound scary, sometimes we're tired and sometimes we don't want too, but we can do this together ok? i have a few quick tips that might help ya!

🫧﹒fun brushes or kids brushes, they look fun, come in lots of different patterns and the brushes are softer and smaller if that's a sensory ick!

🌸﹒set a time to do it, if you have a "now" for something you've been putting off, it's easier to get yourself into motion!

🫧﹒if setting a time doesn't help, do it whenever you can. brushing in the afternoon is better than never brushing at all!

🌸﹒if you want too, sit on the floor while you do it, it can feel a lot less big and a lot less scary down there

🫧﹒stack tasks! sometimes once you do one tricky thing you can get another done easier. try brushing after a shower!

🌸﹒if the taste makes it icky, look for a no-taste toothpaste! if the texture is a problem you can get clear gel ones too.

🫧﹒take a stuffie friend with you! they can't brush their teeth, but they'd love to cheer you on!

🌸﹒bring a video or show with you, as always sometimes the voices of other people can make you feel less lonely.

🫧﹒remember, little circles around every tooth, don't forget to brush your tongue!

🌸﹒play a song you like that's 2 minutes or more! if you need a little comfort try "rises the moon"- it's exactly 2 minutes and 41 seconds long, so by the time it's done you can stop brushing!

🫧﹒plan something fun for after like a self reward, like getting comfy clothes on, getting in bed or some before bed colouring/playtime

🌸﹒if twice a day sounds like too much, work your way up to it with just once a day, two minutes, then you're done.

🫧﹒And above all else, be proud of yourself, you've done amazingly as is and if you can't be proud for you, I'm proud of you.
