The 7.8 earthquake that struck near Sarangani, Mindanao is a currently developing story with the quake striking at 7:32 AM PhST yesterday killing at least 40 as of the latest count (the death toll still rising as more people are found and with aftershocks in the next few weeks), displacing at least 20,000 people, and destroying a lot of infrastructure from homes to public spaces to private businesses and even schools. It's a little difficult for me to find information if there's any NGO or community-run/citizen-run relief drives at the moment and especially since I don't use X/Twitter or Instagram but I do want to share some here. If anyone has any information or links that would directly help the people affected by the recent earthquake, feel free to share them here as I'm also trying to look around other places like Facebook even with how terrible its search function is.
From what I've found so far, I'm reposting some images from GCash's Facebook page regarding various large groups and companies that had given different QR codes that people could donate to with Angat Buhay being a well-known NGO that did quick response during last year's typhoon barrage and PDRF being a group that's specifically geared towards disaster response:
Here's also some posts from student organizations that I'm copying over from Facebook. This one is a post from Notre Dame of Marbel University Peacebuilder's page calling for donations:
From the post:

I apologize for not being able to make image descriptions for all of these right now since I'm currently dealing with some bad eyestrain these past few days. If anyone wants to write them, I'll try to add them in on the alt text of the corresponding images.
As always, if you're part of an institution like a school or a company, they might also have or will have programs that would focus specifically on assisting the victims of the earthquake so keep an eye out for those programs and you could go through those channels to help if you find it reputable and feel free to add them in the reblogs of this post as well to make things easier for those that would want to help.
Stay safe, everyone!
i have oc lore that even i don't know about
People hate the idea of transfems so bad that they will see a male character who is unhappy with his body and has a connection to motherhood and say "hes a trans man :)"

personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
Sometimes "rarepair" means "you are literally the only person who posts about this on tumblr dot com" and you have to learn to be okay with that.
the central conceit of white boy "comedy rap" genres is that they're too racist to recognise that most classic rap is already pretty humorous in many ways, on account of wordplay being fundamental to the form,
and also steeped in pop culture from the very beginning, like the rap scene was already making music about comics and anime and video games you don't need to segregate a new genre for that
the sound of moving water is the best thing in the world. rain falling, waves crashing, fountains tinkling, streams gurgling, a lake lapping, cascades crashing, springs burbling...it's all so beautiful.
One day we'll live in a world where we'll be able to treat the experiences of folks with schizophrenia with the respect they deserve and not like a circus show.
One day.
Level 1: Asylums are scary because there's crazy people there.
Level 2: We shouldn't treat mental health facilities as objects of horror because it stigmatises mental illness.
Level 3: Asylums are scary because there's psychiatrists there.
quite callous how the general societal reaction to allegations of child abuse increasing in frequency seems to have been "all these millions of people are lying and faking on the internet for clout, parents are the only real protectors for children" instead of "perhaps there is something wrong structurally with how we treat children"
"why are millennials/gen z/etc going no contact with their parents?" is really not a difficult question to answer
I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with relating to characters, “they’re literally me” etc but if that’s the only way you engage with stories you’re kinda missing the whole point of Characters being vehicles through which we can see perspectives outside of our own. and also you’re going to get upset when the Character acts in a way that is not Personally Relatable to You
