The thing with disability is that your brain and the people around you will tell you that it's not okay to do things that will make your life easier. But it is in fact okay, good even, to do things that will make your life easier

for me, the best way to explain the experience of having special interests is that they’re magnetic. i can be thinking about any topic, having any conversation, doing any task, and then my train of thought can get pulled back to the special interest. i can do special interest activities forever, it’s my default way to spend my time, and it can be hard to pull myself away from it even when i need to. it’s good, its a comforting thing for me, but it can make it harder to interact with anything that’s not it.
