Issue 2 Call for Submissions Coming Soon
I haven’t abandoned this zine, just gotten caught up in personal things, like moving across the country. I’ve decided that the topic of issue 2 will be gray areas.
"f-ace-ing silence" #5 call for submissions (asexual spectrum zine)
During Asexual Awareness Week, I’m putting out the call for submissions for this zine for people on the asexual spectrum (i.e., ace folks):
As an ace person, have you ever felt alienated from, or silenced in, any ace space(s)? Or aliened from aceness or ace community generally? How about feeling like there’s ace-related stuff you don’t have space to talk about in your ace spaces… or stuff that people just aren’t ( yet ) talking ( enough ) about there?
“f-ace-ing silence” is an ongoing zine about silence and alienation *within* ace community & ace spaces… and alienation *from* ace community, ace spaces and aceness generally. It’s a is a zine of counter-narratives… ace communities ( and aces without communities ) are so diverse that almost any experience can be a counter-narrative.
Words, poetry, images, etc. ( I’m also open to some cover-art! )
Please e-mail contributions, questions, comments, etc. to: rotten [dot] zucchinis [at] gmail.com
Deadline: November 30th, 2016
Please include a contributor bio with your submissions, and some content warnings.
** Optional Theme ** : greyness / liminality… and/or aromanticism ( not necessarily related )
Check out issues #1-4 & more info [ here ].
I’m really looking forward to submissions, people!
I just made a Facebook group just for ace spectrum people who make and love zines! Come join!
jamie, an aromantic and asexual spectrum zine, is now looking for submissions for issues 2 and onward! Submissions are now operating on a rolling deadline, so feel free to send in works whenever you’d like to be considered for future issues!
suggestions for submissions -drawings and comics about being ace/aro -fiction about aro/ace characters -poetry and lyrics -edits and collages -playlists, photos and photo sets, lists, infographics…
looking specifically for… -personal narratives and essays about being ace/aro -creators who are poc/otherwise diverse -unique types of submissions
topics to consider -how being aro/ace coincides with religion, race -coming out -representation (and lack of it) in media -self-identity and coming to terms with being aro/ace -aro/ace relationships -moments of pride (alternatively, self doubt)
submissions guidelines here! check it out for specifics on where to submit, along with links to other zines for inspiration
issue 1 downloadable version / issue 1 online version / jamie twitter / mod’s blog
please reblog and share!
A collection of personal essays and poems about the many weird feelings I have had about being asexual, queer, a fat girl, a virgin, and a witch among other things.
Aces in the Church: a zine from under the asexual umbrella about experiences with(in) modern Christianity
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Too often, non-aces will speculate about what it’s like to be ace under the gaze of one of the most politically powerful religious groups to date, making assumptions about what we do or don’t face, without asking those of us who have the relevant experience. This zine, “Aces in the Church,” is intended to be a compilation of ace experiences with & within Christianity, to bring our stories together into one place and close the door on any need for speculation.
Who can submit content?
Anyone who fits both criteria:
past or present identification with asexuality, gray-asexuality, or some other identity under the asexual umbrella (questioning people welcome)
past or present participation in/involvement with/exposure to a Christian church or community (or Christian and Christian-leaning individuals)
If you’re interested but you’re on the fence about whether you or your experiences count, you are invited to submit something anyway.
What content can you submit?
Any personal reflections, mini essays, vignettes, stories, short comics, or other works dealing with being ace while engaging with Christians and/or in relation to Christianity. For example, you might submit something about:
messages from within the Church about marriage and sexuality & how they’ve impacted you
abstinence-only sex education as experienced by an ace
how a Christian upbringing has affected the way you or others feel about the legitimacy of your ace identity
a time when you disclosed an ace identity, lack of interest in sex, etc., to a Christian
consequences to not believing in Christianity and consequences to not expressing sexual desire
parental expectations with regard to sex and God
dating (or not) as a Christian and an ace
interplay between religious and sexual trauma
things you would tell your younger, more devout (or less devout) self about attraction, dogma, and community
positive experiences of explicit ace acceptance in a Christian context
There is no minimum length requirement. A couple of sentences is fine. A short note saying that the subject is too difficult for you to talk about can count as a contribution.
All submissions will be subject to the editor’s approval prior to publication. Pieces with objectionable content, such as antigay sentiment, will not be tolerated. You can opt to supply a contact method if you would like to resolve any issues that may arise.
The editor will add content warnings at its own discretion, and you are welcome to specify some yourself. There is only one mandatory rule about this: please place a note at the top if your submission includes sexual content.
How can I submit something?
You have two options! Either drop the full text into Coyote’s askbox, or email the file/document to [email protected], with the subject line “zine submission.” These methods can also be used to send questions about the zine, but in that case, make sure to include a contact method for the reply, unless you’re a regular reader of The Ace Theist.
Please specify what name (if any) you would like the piece to be attributed to for the byline. In other words, please say who your submission is from. Your submission can be from “Anonymous.” If you choose not to remain anonymous, you may use an alias or a url, or both.
When is the deadline?
The current deadline is August 15, but that’s subject to change depending on the response rate. Feel free to drop Coyote a note to request more time.
the first issue of j.a.m.i.e is now available to download here~~!! ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
possible trigger warnings (message me if something’s missing or for clarification)
cursing - page 10, 17
sex mention - 11
also, one submission sent in was lyrics, so if you’d like to hear the song on youtube, the link’s here 💜
yo~! it was suggested to me for the zine that i include a question about being aro/ace in each issue for people to answer for the next one, because an important part of this zine is getting different points of view from people with various thoughts and feelings and various places on different places on each spectrum) so this typeform survey is for the first q+a, if you’d like to fill it out and have a few words in the zine~ this typeform is for what I’m calling the anything page right now, where people can submit any words they’re feeling aside from what the official q+a topic is~ fill out either or both of them if you’d like, and please share so more people can be involved ✌🏼✌🏼
Asexual Content Issue 1: Relationships is now officially live! The zine can be read and downloaded on Issuu in both versions: cut-and-paste and accessible (larger, white pages, image descriptions, and Open Dyslexic Mono font (I tried the plain Open Dyslexic, but it didn’t work on my computer.)) You have to be a member of Issuu to download the pdfs. Sorry, I don’t have a premium account, which is necessary for downloads without logging in.
All in all there are pieces from seven different contributors on the topic of relationships in relation to asexuality.
Here are links to view each version of the zine:

I haven’t finished the pdf for the printable booklet yet, but I’ll post that as soon as it’s ready.
Thank you so much to all of the wonderful contributors who made this zine a reality!
Also, I’m still accepting submissions now for the next issue, which will be about either gray areas or things you want to SHOUT. No set deadlines yet, so feel free to take your time submitting.
Your editor,
Olivia M.

(meta)paradox #5: The Neuroqueer Issue is finally done! This zine is about queer and neurodivergent identities and how they intersect. For me, this means the intersections between queerness, queer asexuality, being autistic, and having depression and anxiety, though other intersections are explored as well. There are pieces on femme and disability, bi-ness, queerness and atheism, asexuality and disability, queer and ace language, ace and aro relationships, body image, romance plots in LARPing, questioning where I belong, why I write the way I do in zines, a QTPOC conference I attended, and more! This zine is ¼ size and 88 pages long. Contact me if you want to trade!

EDIT: The piece I said was on ace relationships is about ace AND aro relationships AND friendships and other types of relationships and how I feel about them.
Here’s a personal zine I’ve finished while waiting for submissions for Asexual Content. It’s got ace stuff!
This issue of Pieces goes into my experience of living as a romantic asexual. While there is a bit of asexuality 101, this zine primarily focuses
aro/ace people
hi im looking for fellow aro/ace people to interview for part of a zine im making, i need about 3-4 people anywhere on the spectrum! i will be asking questions about your experiences as an aro/ace person especially withony the lgbtqia community. your identiy can be hidden if that is needed. i will send you a free copy as well. Americans are apperciated but i wanna get a variety of voices and expereinces, the title of the zine will be queer-hood and will be coming out in july. please message me on this or my personal blog @3dtrash if you are intrested thanks!
Ah! A Clarification
I just finished a piece of my own for the zine, in the relationships category, bringing it up to five submissions. Since some of the pieces in this category are longer than others, I’ve decided that if I get two more submissions in this category I’ll release the Relationships topic as issue number one, and continue to collect submissions for the other two topics’ issues.
