Extending my Professional Development
The National Association for the Education of Young Children is an organization in which I wish to learn more about. Their goal is to overcome obstacles and promote excellence in early childhood education. Their website is very helpful in providing resources for teachers and parents alike to better learning environments. It also provides information about their conferences that many attend. It clearly states that teaching staff, administrators, students, and researchers are all welcome to attend these conferences. Being the largest early childhood education conference in the world, tens of thousands of educators choose to listen to hundreds of exhibits and presentations. Their annual conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia November 7th-10th. This organization also has smaller gatherings created for those who plan to prepare, mentor, and develop skills that help and manage the education youth. I would assume that those who are able to attend this smaller convention are from a much more adequate pool of individuals. While I could not find how much their conferences cost, I did find out that you have to register to be apart of their program online before registering for the conference. Their website also includes research articles with books able to be ordered to have as resources at home.
The Association for Childhood Education International has goals of enhancing the education for children around the globe. Their site includes global news and updates which are helpful in realizing that what they are doing as a program is much needed. They clearly state that their mission is to make sure that, "Every child in every nation will have access to quality education. This education will prepare children to become responsible and engaged citizens and ready them for life in a changing world." To register for a membership with their organization, as a student, there is a yearly fee of $35. In April of 2013, there will be a conference held to Institute for Global Education Diplomacy. To receive more information you are to submit your information to be apart of their mailing list. They include a news and publications link to their website to provide those of interest with useful resources.Â
The Nebraska State Education Association's mission to create a great public education for every student of Nebraska. They also wish to advocate for all educators, empowering them to provide quality education for their students. While their website is not as full with research and resources like the national sites, they still provide news and info to keep their members updated. Their delegate assembly was held in April of this year, with representatives from different districts to propose new amendments, business, and resolution forms.Â
