This week we're learning about our #fivesenses 👋🏾 •••••••••••••••••••••••••• For each sense, I put together three examples of each that P has to explore and then create a picture of it in her "journal" (made from construction paper and computer paper). For the sense of smell, she had the pleasure of smelling dog food 🐶 (that stuff is super stinky 😳). •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• It's a fun and short #science unit for a relaxed fall week 🍁 How is your day going ? We're learning about our #fivesenses this week! •••••••••••••••••••••••• For each sense I have three examples . I.e. , for the sense of smell, P had three mystery "smells" in a cup and had to figure out what each "smell" was. Learning about our #fivesenses this week in school 💕 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• She thought I was cray when I screamed, as an example, to demonstrate how we can hear loud sounds as well as soft sounds. Her face was shocked 😬 But, it got the point across 😂 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I created a simple and quick "journal" where she draws pictures of three examples we used when explaining the "sense" we talked about. working on some life skills with Miss P ☺️ - We love the fact that along with academics that we get to incorporate life skills into her learning . ---- For this sweeping activity I: spread out some ripped pieces of paper and googley eyes (👀) on the floor. I showed P how to sweep them into a pile, then had her repeat. - Easy enough activity for her motor skills as well as a real life skill that she can later use for chores. - She had 30+ minutes of fun and learned a new skill 😏 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• What chores do your kiddos have around the house ? We known that we know he's here. This week we're introducing & working through the concept of basic addition . •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• In true form I was stressed out for about a month before this point because me and math are not friends. It's a mutual hatred, really. (I almost didn't graduate college because I put off taking a basic math course for over four years. I finally took the class, but gesh. Talk about math phobia. #Truestory 🙈). •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• But faith, yet again y'all , triumphs over my fears . It wasn't a burning bush moment, but a "God meeting where I'm at " as I fretted over introducing this math addition thing in a way my preschooler could understand and love and build from with out completing derailing her with math , moment. (😬) •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• James 1:5 tells me that if i lack wisdom, that I can ask God for wisdom. And that's what I did . That's what I prayed . And guess what? He gave me an idea that worked brilliantly for P. It was fun , she understood what she was doing , there were giggles & After our lesson she said "mom, I love math!" 🤓 ••••••••••••••••••••••••• God cares about alll areas of my life. He's not looking down on me for my "lame" prayer request or condemning me for not having it all figured out. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••He's a Good Father that cares about all the details in my life. "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do , do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31 - We're trying to teach P that what she does isn't just about doing it for herself or other people, but that ultimately what she does is to be done for God's glory. Not her own. & not to make others happy. - We love praise . We love being told we're doing a good job and that someone is proud of us . That we're worthy and worthwhile and that our work (whatever it is) means something. That we and what we do (whatever it is we do) is important. But the peace in my heart about what I do on a day to day basis (when people notice or behind closed doors), comes when I can do those things to simply give God glory. - I was a chaser of wanting people to be proud of me . For People to accept my talents and gifts and to see them as important and purposeful. But, I have learned that mindset only led my heart off to chasing something that i would never catch. A life of being trapped and enslaved to failed expectations and self-doubts. - Freedom is in knowing why I do what I do everyday. Knowing that in everything ,i do what I do to bring glory to God. & Im not perfect and fail often at this but by grace y'all , The Holy Spirit always brings this prodigal child back home to a life and mind of freedom. 💕 - Simple. It was a rough night over here 😪 - P had a bad dream. I had a bad dream (mine was probably induced by the hot wings I ate at 10pm but still it wasn't fun 🌶 ). Sleep was anything but settled and good and constant. #WhatIsSleep 🤔 - But then comes my knight in shining armor with a GIANT #psl 🙌( decaf because my body can't handle that caffeine life).
