Imagine the Marinette Salt concept where she's a bad or outright fraudulent fashion designer. Here's some things in the canon show that inspired this:

In the Origins episode Stone Heart she claims to not know who Adrien is despite Gabriel apparently being her favourite fashion designer. You know, the guy who uses his son to model most of his designs and has adverts with his face on plastered everywhere, including right outside the school which is right next to her house! Makes it sound like she says the most well known fashion designer off the top of her head is her favourite and inspiration to hide how little she really knows and understands about fashion design. Heck, compare Marinette's flowery basic designs with soft polkadot pinks and pastels with what Gabriel's shown to design and they share little to no similarities.

Her Ladybug costume from S1-5 is awful and I hate it. It's just bright red spandex with black polkadots everywhere and her basic domino mask is the exact same. She doesn't bother to change her hair colour or style or her eye colour so she looks the exact same as her civilian self only with a different outfit, the only thing that changes with her hair are the red ribbons, and they don't change much since she wears red hair ties anyway. If it weren't for the quantum masking excuse that I'm pretty sure only comes up in the United Heroes special, Marinette would've been figured out by anyone with eyes instantly. "But when she first transformed she wasn't ready to be a hero." So everyone else was? So she stuck with such a bland design for a canonical year? It implies that she couldn't come up with anything interesting until her Lucky Charm suit in season 4, which doesn't even become a permanent redesign.

Her unification costumes. Most of the best parts of the more decent designs were taken from the other holder's designs, like Lady Bee's gold stripes and ponytail are taken from Queen Bee, Dragon Bug's spiral pattern and horn design are taken from Ryuko, the Multimouse unifications are just recolours of each other. The Pegabug design just does not blend well, and the Pennybug design? The Pennybug design is a fucking mess with zero cohesion. A root problem causing most of the bad designs is because of how bland the base Ladybug costume is which leads to the other designs suffering because they have to incorporate the bland bright red with black polkadots into them or else it won't read as a Ladybug unification. A Watsonian explanation for this could be that Marinette is a bad fashion designer who copies from other better works without understanding why they worked and fumbles hard when she has to come up with something original that's good.

Marinette's derby hat from Mr Pigeon. We all know I didn't like the hat at first so I'm looking at it again and... I still hate it. It's a plain greyish black with felt feathers, a black ribbon with gold details hiding her signature around the base... A greyish white bow with an unwashed pigeon feather stuck to the center by a bright orange button. I'm not a fashion designer, will never claim to be, but the hat made me think "bland, bland, bland, why would you put those things together like that?"

The costumes she made for the movie in Queen Banana were just baggy long sleeved shirts with zero details to speak of, just plain fabric. Bare in mind the costumes were meant to represent deities of creation and destruction.

I've most likely missed examples that could add to the idea that Marinette isn't a good fashion designer but these are a few I've remembered at the moment. The show gasses up Marinette to be this extraordinary fashion designer who impressed two famous fashion designers with little effort but the designs she makes are just bland and forgettable if they're not copied from other people in the miraculous universe. Miraculous Ladybug presents Marinette as The Best of The Best at everything she does but when the narrative favouritism is removed, she's barely average at best.

I think Marinette being a bad fashion designer or a downright plagiarist could lead to many interesting salt fic ideas and wanted to share it with Marinette Salters.

The Season 5 finale, with the help of episodes like Chat Blanc and Ephemeral, establishes that Adrien's emotions are to be seen as inconveniences or even seen as potentially dangerous in such a way that they need to be controlled by another person. This validates Gabriel's abuse of Adrien by suggesting that he was right all along to control Adrien, lest he goes out of control by being emotional and destroys the world or something along those lines.

By all logic, the Paris special doesn't portray a true morality swap situation, just a story about the same people with the same capacity for good who have gone down the wrong path, but can be brought back to the light. Everyone who is good in our world is good in theirs, and vice versa, as evidenced by the fact that the terrorist children are going to be redeemed but Chloe is still somehow still evil. Gabriel is among those who are considered good.

The above point is further driven in by the fact that Gabriel is akumatized (I forgot the word used in the special and I'm too lazy to look it up) into Guardian Angel in the special, a phrase commonly associated with caring and protective caretakers of any kind even though his son has become a magical terrorist despite his wonderful parenting, somehow.

Gabriel is akumatized into Guardian Angel by Marinette, and considering the revelations from the Season 5 finale, this works as foreshadowing for her siding with Gabriel and essentially continuing his work of controlling his son. Gabriel is named Guardian Angel by her, and in the narrative, this implies that she validates him as a parent, metaphorically now and literally later.

Considering the lack of morality swapping, her actions in the finale and the fact that Marinette is the writers' mouthpiece, this is the writers' way of informing us of the wonderful parenting abilities of Gabriel Agreste, reinforcing the idea that Mr. Monarch is not evil, just misunderstood.

In fact, the Paris Special has Claw Noir be a murderous villain who is willing to Cataclysm his opponents in a universe where Gabriel is a good father, leading to the conclusion that Gabriel's lack of abuse and control of his son has led him down this dark path. The implication being that he needs to be abused or else he'll become a villain.

And this is supported by the fact that Gabriel akumatizes Chat Noir into an angelic version of himself, complete with the angel wings and white costume and all, showing us that Adrien on his own is prone to becoming a volatile monster and needs Gabriel to keep him line and turn him into the angel he is today.

I'm sorry, but the fact that Chat Noir's new power is so convenient that Marinette doesn't face the consequences of hiding a terrorist's identity from her own teammates because they MIGHT tell Adrien is the stupidest argument this series has ever presented

And they created the Magical Charms.

I've said a thousand times that the justification for not telling Adrien anything being "we have to protect him, he can't suffer," is horrible, and I disagree. As Alya said in the last episode, no one can decide for Adrien whether he knows or not.

Taking care of him shouldn't be an excuse to lie to him, or to anyone else.

Adrien more than anyone deserves to know who his dad was and the things he did and why. He deserves to grieve for him and hate him if he wants to. Not telling anything is keeping Adrien in a bubble, a little glass box where he's safe.

Ladybug should have told him that Gabriel was Monarch immediately after the fight ended. She doesn't know that Adrien is Chat Noir, so she doesn't know there's a risk of the world ending because Chat went crazy and used his power.

She had the Miraculous at that time, so the only risk Adrien ran by telling him the truth was crying his eyes out. PLUS, he wasn't at risk of being akumatized because Gabriel was dead and Ladybug was there.

She didn't even have to make the information public; she just had to tell Adrien.

So no, I don't believe there was no option but to not tell him anything.

And I'm a little tired of people justifying all this by saying "Marinette is only 14, she's a child."

I get it, but there's a chapter where they tell you that Ladybug is already mature enough to be considered AN ADULT and use her powers infinitely. Even though Mari is 14, she's been Ladybug for about a year, where she's seen more than one loved one die, fought terrorists, adult supervillains, and even faced Su Han and the heroes of New York as an ADULT. Why is it that when it comes to taking responsibility (and almost always around Adrien), she's "just a child"?

But back to the last episode: Giving Chat Noir the power to erase memories is stupidly convenient for the plot. Marinette is safe from facing the consequences for lying and can continue being Alya's best friend and Adrien's perfect girlfriend without any problems because then if it happens again, she'll just find Chat and ask him to erase their memories again because "they know a secret that I can't tell you what it is, but it's bad and they have to forget it."

Only Mari doesn't know that Chat is Adrien, and that's another big problem. Marinette doesn't want to know Chat's identity, so she can't trust him with things because "maybe he knows Adrien and can tell him" is stupidly convenient and only makes me think that Marinette really doesn't trust Chat enough to tell him who the villain they've been fighting since day one is.

At this point, I really can't blame Lila for hating Marinette (look what you've turned me into, writers!) Marinette is really annoying, especially when it has to do with Adrien.

Sometimes I feel like Marinette sees Adrien more as a trophy, something perfect she wants, and not the guy behind it all. But that's the fault of the writers and their annoying need to make Adrien perfect and devoid of personality throughout the seasons. Not even Chat Noir can get a power upgrade on his own; it's Ladybug who has to tell Chat what to do.

And then the episode tries to teach you that erasing Alya's memory is actually giving Marinette the freedom to choose when to tell the truth.

FREEDOM FOR MARINETTE. But never for Adrien to feel ANYTHING.

I'm going to really enjoy it when Lila decides to really attack, even if it only lasts 10 seconds until everyone forgives Marinette for lying and Adrien just says "I love you even though we've been dating for months and you lied to me and hid sensitive information about my family. It must have been really hard for you to hide that my dead dad was the man who psychologically tortured all of Paris and even me, just because he wanted to revive my dead mom who had been hiding in the basement of my house for a year. Do you want to go to the movies tomorrow?"

And I can almost bet that Chat Noir's new power will be used to get Marinette's memories back if she gives up being a guardian, in a very convoluted way typical of the show.

Like: "The akuma caused Marinette to have to give up the box and lose her memories. If we use the Chat Noir Miraculous, we can erase the consequences of the akuma and Marinette will get her memories back."

Or much worse.

Paris found out that Ladybug lied and they hate her. We're going to use the Chat Noir Miraculous to erase their memories so they won't mistreat her anymore :D yeii freedom

Are two statements that can and should coexist. Yes, season one had hints that Kim was a sort of secondary antagonist (the origins episode where he gets Ivan akumatized, that one episode where he gets Alya's dad akumatized due to his idiot jock behavior, his idiot jock behavior, the fact that he had a crush on Chloe which apparently is grounds for being a bad person in Astrucs eyes) but most of those traits disappeared after Dark Cupid. Season two onwards, Kim hates Chloe just as much as the other good guys (which is grounds for being a good person in Astrucs eyes) and dosen't really cause akumas anymore. Season 3 onwards, Kim is established as a pure good himbo that Master Fu likes enough to personally give him a miraculous (something he only did with the main characters of the show). Season 1 existed, but it dosen't invalidate evey season after itself.

Is historical revisionism based on a retcon. And a bad retcon at that! The writers did not write this idea into the show until Derision came out, that is so obviously a retcon that it's almost as bad as Kim being retconed to be a pure nice himbo!

Miraculous Ladybug is terrible at character writing and Derision just highlights that fact. In any other show, the idea that Kim helped traumatize Marinette would have been either some type of dark secret (Kim is deeply ashamed of his actions but has moved on since them and become a better person) or a very dark plot twist (Kim and Sabrina are secretly terrible people who helped Chloe abuse Marinette and are almost just as bad as her). But because it happened in Miraculous, Kim is going to leave this episode scot free while Chloe is going to be racked over coals cuz "tHiS pRoVeS sHeS pUrE eViL!1!"

Ladybug breaks Adrien's amok, deciding to risk his life and hoping that nothing goes wrong. She thought that he would be fine, even after he collapsed. When she checks up on him again, he's completely lost his memories. Past love square, endgame Lukadrien.

Ladybug knew it was risky. That she was risking her boyfriend's life. But she had no other choice. Truly. If you were to ask her, breaking Adrien's amok was the hardest thing she had to do. But Milly wouldn't renounce her akuma, so what other choice did she have??

She felt relieved when everything ended up fine. Well, she was sure it was fine. As soon as she cast her miraculous ladybug cure, the trophy holding Adrien vanished. He stood there for a moment before collapsing.

She didn't know what to do, told his grandparents that he'd be fine. That he likely fainted due to the stress of everything happening. To not feel bad. Just, just let him get some rest. He'll be fine.

Adrien was not fine.

Nathalie thought that when Adrien woke up, he would ask her about the situation. About where his grandparents were.

But when he woke up, the first thing he asked was who she was. He looked at her as if she were a stranger. When she said his name, he asked if that was his name. When she asked him what he last remembered, he just looked at her. Eyes wandering, trying to remember anything. Even if it was just the date. Nothing.

Marinette didn't know what to do. She didn't know how to tell anyone else. How would she explain Adrien's memory loss??

She thought things would be fine. That she didn't hurt Adrien by breaking his amok. He was fine. He's fine. This is just...temporary. He'll be fine in a few days. She can tell their friends Adrien wasn't feeling well and wasn't taking visitors at the moment. Meanwhile, she'll be the best girlfriend he could ever ask for.

Adrien wasn't sure what was going on. Everything was fuzzy in his mind. He felt weird. Nervous.

He liked Plagg. Plagg was...nice?? He was the only one who didn't treat him delicately. Who let him take things in at his own pace. Didn't ask him if he remembered anything.

He was starting to hate that. "Do you remember anything?" "Did your memory come back?" "Are you sure you can't remember anything?" It was so...overwhelming.

He also liked Felix. Felix who looked so much like him. Who he swears blinked back tears when he asked if they were brothers. Because they had to be, right? Felix was his twin brother and was devastated when he found out Adrien lost his memories and came to see him as soon as he found out. Felix, who tore into his... girlfriend???, because of what had happened (not that he knew what happened).

Felix's girlfriend Kagami was... a bit scary, he won't lie. But she did her best to make him feel comfortable, so that's a plus. She brought things they could do together. All three, four if they counted his... girlfriend??.

Adrien wanted nothing more than to just remember. Remember who he was, the people around him, the kwami that stays by his side. He just wants to remember.

If he wanted to go out, she told him he couldn't. He might get lost or hurt.

If he wanted to just sit in the garden outside, she told him that they should do something inside instead.

She constantly asked him if he remembered anything.

Did he remember their first kiss? Did he remember their first date? Did he remember how people thought they were dating before they were dating?

No. He didn't remember. He's starting to wonder if it ever happened.

Marinette was too much. She was overwhelming.

Whatever love he should have felt for her. That he once felt for her, apparently. Was gone.

He couldn't do this anymore.

Marinette didn't want them to know the truth. To know the reason they broke up was because she made Adrien uncomfortable. That he just didn't love her anymore.

She sent a text to Alya, telling her about the breakup but nothing more.

Maybe, when she woke up, this would all be a nightmare. Adrien will send her a good morning text. They would go to school and everything would be fine.

Everything would be fine.

Marinette was quiet as their teacher explained Adrien's amnesia. She ignored the murmurs and whispers around her. She ignored Nino when he volunteered to show Adrien around. She ignored the questioning looks Alya gave her.

She wanted Adrien to look at her. To admit, he was wrong about leaving her. To say he still loved her. That she was still his girlfriend.

The day seemed to drag out. The rest of their friends were making accommodations for Adrien. People who shared his classes volunteered to walk him to each class. Guiding him until he could remember to do it on his own. They made plans for tutoring sessions. That way, they could help him catch up with work, as well as help each other with things they were struggling with. They offered to share old notes for any class he missed or in case he was having a difficult time concentrating in class.

Whenever she tried to talk to Adrien, he would shift uncomfortably. It made whoever was walking him to his next class cut whatever conversation Marinette was trying to make short. It became so clear to everyone that she made him uncomfortable.

When she got home, she ran to her room to cry. She cried as she thought about the decision she had made. The decisions she should have made.

She should have pushed Milly more. Maybe she would have renounced her akuma. She should have called Felix, like he told her when he found out she broke Adrien's amok. She shouldn't have treated Adrien like he would continue to break. Like he was so fragile. Like his amnesia meant he needed to be sheltered more.

She ignored her phone when it buzzed. Eventually, she picked it up and unlocked it to see what was going on. She felt tears prick her eyes again.

A simple apology from Juleka.

A message from Alya, who had gone to the tutoring session. They were showing Adrien some photos of the past. Partially to see if they could help jog his memory and partially to see if he still had any interest in what they were doing in the photos. And while they weren't able to jog his memory, he was very interested in what they were doing. And it was very clear to everyone when they got to photos of Kitty Section that he was interested in the blue haired boy playing a guitar. He would ask about him. He always looked at him. Some of them wondered if this crush had always been there. Had he always liked Luka but couldn't admit it until he lost his memory?

As much as Marinette hates to admit it, she's glad Luka is gone. She tossed her phone away.

This whole thing was just a nightmare. Really, it was.

She'll wake up and everything will be. Just. Fine.

Adrien would still be her boyfriend. He would have no interest in Luka. He'll remember eventually. And when he does, he'll regret leaving her. Regret falling for pretty boy Luka. Realize he didn't mean to dump her.

I may be misremembering things, but it was a common detail in Lila salt fics to have her lie about having food allergies and had Marinette discover this by watching her eat the supposed allergen without issue only for no one to believe her. I don't recall any fics for certain as any Lila salt fics I've read have been a few years ago and felt too mean spirited and they all blended together for me. However, it gave me an idea for a Marinette salt fic set before Season 5 Confrontation.

Why allergies are no lie - A Marinette salt fic idea.

Marinette is told about a food allergy Lila has but she thinks Lila is lying for attention as usual, so she sneaks the allergen into the next baked product she brings for the class and waits for Lila to eat it and be fine so she can expose her for the liar she is. Two possible outcomes for this:

Lila really was allergic and has an allergic reaction, causing everyone to panic and Marinette has a "My God, What Have I Done" moment.

In her determination to expose Lila, Marinette forgets that another classmate shares the allergy and they have an allergic reaction.

To my knowledge, Lila never lied about an allergy in canon, but it still seems like something Marinette would have ranted and raved about her lying about if there'd been a dedicated scene to it in canon.

Also, Marinette's canonical jealousy made her stalk Lila into the school library, follow her to a park, and abuse her social position as Ladybug to publicly ridicule a girl she'd never met before in front of Adrien in hopes he'd never talk to her again, simply because Lila dared to talk to the boy Marinette had a crush on. This was all in Volpina, Lila's introduction episode. I know there are other examples of Marinette's jealousy in other episodes - with most never being called out by the narrative - but I'm trying to keep the focus on Marinette and Lila for this post.

A trait I'm surprised isn't utilised more often in the show is Marinette's constant lateness and her habit of skiving from events when other interests catch her fleeting fancy.

Why not have her miss out on key information which catches her off guard at crucial moments because she actively chose not to be present when the information was freely given to those who were there. Have her attempt an "Ah- Gotcha" on a character by attempting to "expose a lie" only for the other characters to go, "yeah, we knew that because they told us, weren't you there for that?" And have Marinette struggle to backtrack her statements because she doesn't have an excuse for why she missed the details, especially if she'd been present at first but left for the pettiest of reasons that fall apart under a hint of scrutiny.

It should've been an easy conflict starter used to fuel so many different ideas but that would mean having to treat Marinette as anything other than the creator's darling angel who's incapable of committing any wrong doing. It seems like such an obvious character weakness and the show left it to rot.

I think it really has to be said: it's difficult to feel bad for Marinette when 90% of her problems are things she does to herself.

Even before these entirely unnecessary... choices about Gabriel, Monarch and Adrien.

Just for example:

Marinette is stressed because she has no time because of her responsibilities. But no one is making her be the class President, or forcing her to put a wedge between herself and her friends and family. She could have resgined from the Class President spot anytime she wanted, and if Chloe getting it was such an issue then she could compaign for someone else she liked to get it. And if that fails? So what? It's a class Presidency, and no one takes Chloe seriously anymore.

Her friends and family were well used to her skipping out with weird excuses. There was no need to cut them off like that: just keep them out of her room and you know, tell the Kwamis to stay hidden if someone comes in. It's not hard. Or maybe just keep them in the box most of the time, like every other Guardian does.

She had to give up her relationship with Luka? No. No she didn't. Once she spilled the beans to Alya, there was no reason why Luka had to be excluded from the truth.

As for Su-Han and the Guardianship: Su-han is a pushover, you can't seriously say that he's a source of stress when a few sharp words will have him switch from demanding reasonable actions to grovelling and praising Marinette on a dime.

The Pressure of having to face Akumas every day is a problem? Well, if she was so inclined up until "Kwamis Choice" she could lend out the Earrings to Alya and take a break from Ladybug Duty any time she wanted.

She could also have tried to find Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth.

At all.

The girl had a nearly-full Miracle Box, a child Genius capable of creating sentient AI on her team, the support of the city, connections to the Knockoff Justice League and all of their heroes/powers and she uses none of it to even try and find Shadowmoth's identity.

I don't want to hear a word from her about how hard her life is when all this drama is self-inflicted.

Not only that, but Luka found out her identity anyway. In the same season, no less.

Speaking of how the heroes are chosen, the temp system might be one of the worst writing choices the writers ever made. I mean I get it, permanent heroes would require the show to have continuity and it makes for yet another parallel with Gabriel, but it just ends up being another one of those instances of the show trying to have its cake and eat it too, like. The new heroes eat up screen time that could've gone to the OG duo, but they also don't get to be heroes in their own right and are essentially Ladybug's Pokemon. It makes both people who liked the duo and people who like team-based shows unhappy for no real benefit.

It's also just a massive security risk. Fu says that it's dangerous for the Miraculous to be out in the open, but it's actually way less risky to put the Miraculous in circulation, because then Hawk Moth has to retrieve them by defeating every hero individually, which is a lot more effort. Keeping them all in one place and distributing them one at a time like this means Hawk Moth only has to figure out who's in charge of the distributing and follow that person right to the Miracle Box. Ferrying the Miraculous for every battle also creates more opportunities to lose them, which is how Queen Bee ended up happening.

Looking back, the problems of just about every season finale past S1 can be traced back to this system. It's almost like the writers are trying to set Marinette up to fail.

I love that phrasing! I've just called them her powerups, but this paints a much clearer picture of what I mean. They're not her autonomous teammates who feel vital to the story. They're her cute little friends who do whatever she says. All she has to do is pick which ones she wants for today's battle.

Fu says that it's dangerous for the Miraculous to be out in the open, but it's actually way less risky to put the Miraculous in circulation, because then Hawk Moth has to retrieve them by defeating every hero individually, which is a lot more effort.

Ferrying the Miraculous for every battle... creates more opportunities to lose them, which is how Queen Bee ended up happening.

These are two of my biggest issue with the temp heroes as a general concept. Fetching them every battle gives Gabriel endless chances to find out the temp heroes identities and/or where the guardian is hiding. I don't know why the show acts like the problem was Ladybug forgetting to detransform in Heart Hunter:

Ladybug: Master Fu, I need your help! Master Fu: (sees Ladybug, gasps) This costume is very cute, miss, but is it really fitting in this place? Ladybug: (gasps) I forgot to transform back. (Looks arounds enters the center of the merry-go-round trying to remain unseen) I haven't been followed Master, I'm sure of it.

Nathalie would have been able to track Ladybug either way. At least this way Marinette's identity stayed a secret!

It would make infinitely more sense for Fu to be the one to hand out the miraculous to the temp heroes for two reasons. The first one was laid out above. Having him or some other support character do it is the best way to keep his identity a secret. You should not have Ladybug leaving battles to do it. That's too easy to track because the villains know where she's going to be when she goes running off for help.

The other reason is because it's asinine to have Ladybug run off every time they face a major threat. Think about that logic for a second.

Ladybug: This akuma is too hard for us to fight as a duo! Chat Noir, you stay here and fight this super hard akuma alone while I go get reinforcements. I'll be back in half an hour or so. Chat Noir: Wait, what? How am I supposed to- Ladybug: Have fun! Don't die! Bye!

How did that never backfire on them? I get temp heroes being temp for a few fights, but they should have all been given their miraculous full time ages ago.

Though, let me clarify something here: Nathalie is just as guilty in how this turned out, in a couple of things her blame significantly outweighs Marinette's. This is important.

But im right now bothered by Marinette more because while the narrative claims Nathalie is good now, the story has also never shied away from properly acknowledging that she's AT MINIMUM a morally grey character.

Marinette on the other hand is consistently glorified, praised, and martyr-ed for absolutely EVERYTHING she does no matter how much it hurts others and harms the story in the long run as long as they end up smiling at her. Her feelings and validation are put first and it is treated as a fundamental truth that Maribug is the greatest girlboss goddess of all time who is always entitled to support, control, and power because it's HER and she says so and if she doesn't get it she's being bullied and oppressed and must make sure she gets what she wants.

This is not the same, and its what consistently turns Maribug's characters into such a moral threat since the retooling of season 4 that makes her involvement alot worse than the involvement of other characters.

Nathalie absolutely is a major problem in this now forwards, but Marinette's long established entitlement to play god and prioritise her feelings over morality whenever she doesn't like something and just hope for the best is the main problem. And this isn't new.

And no, I don't see how gaslighting Adrien now believing that the 14 years of abuse he experienced weren't real and HE is the problem in everything cause HE got it wrong because MARIBUG lovingly says so and teaches him what to truly feel and think is a loving thing to do (as we see at the very end of season 5, Marinette's lies fucked Adrien UP)

This once again just feels like Marinette doesn't want to have a fucking conversation so she's taking the fucked up route that's nicest to HER if she gets through with it.

So she learned nothing. She's still doing what she claimed to have been sorry for and she's still making herself out to be the most generous and caring goddess over it because she has complex human feelings (like everyone else) and Marinette is so spoiled by the narrative that she still takes that as her being right she's just "misunderstood" and not catered to enough.

This is, as always, what it comes down to. The problem is always the same. Marinette may genuinely start out with good and caring intentions, but her execution always ends up priorizing protecting herself and making sure SHE is okay first and foremost.

The problem is Marinette's goddess framing and that she can't be just wrong about something anymore without a giant fuss being made about it that overshadows the actual victims and stops the necessary steps from being taken to just get over the moral problem because the show refuses to not always have Marinette be validated in some way which muddles the morality.

How "Sublimation" manipulates Sublime, and the audience.

So I have a question for everyone: Why did Marinette pretend to be akumatized, pour soap on the floor, and cause the new girl Sublime's prosthetics to break? (I know it was an accident, that doesn't make it okay.) I know a lot of people are going to say it was because Marinette was trying to become her friend, but is just really dumb and keeps screwing things up. But no, that's not the case. Marinette did what she did because she overheard Sublime talking to herself and thought she liked Adrien and was trying to steal him. The entire first part of the episode actually has little effect on this, it's actually just a shield against criticism towards Marinette. I'll try to explain how.

Imagine if we deleted the whole first part of the episode, all the stuff about Marinette trying to help Sublime and be her friend. Imagine if instead the episode started in the bathroom, with Marinette misunderstanding Sublime. In this scenario, what would stay the same in the episode? Well, almost everything. Marinette would still pretend to be akumatized, still pour soap on the floor, still show up as Ladybug, Sublime's mom would still get akumatized, and all the action in the episode would go exactly the same. So what would change in this scenario? Well, Adrien wouldn't have told Sublime about Marinette trying to be her friend, so Sublime wouldn't have believed that's why Marinette did what she did, so Sublime wouldn't have forgiven her so easily. So yeah, the entire point of the first half of the episode was to give Marinette an excuse for what she did, and so Sublime and much of the audience would misunderstand her motives. The writers had Marinette do a bunch of dumb things with good intentions so that once she did something really bad, Sublime and the audience would be confused and think it was also done with good intentions.

Want the final nail in the coffin? Ladybug says that she was the real villain here. If Marinette really did have only good intentions and caused the problems by just being dumb, then isn't calling herself the villain being really harsh? Making innocent mistakes doesn't make someone a villain. But pretending to be akumatized to scare a girl away from your boyfriend because you're jealous does.

Well, you see, the difference between the two is that while Chloe betrayed Ladybug and stole all of her Miraculous, Felix betrayed Ladybug and... stole all of her Miraculous...

Okay, while Chloe used her Miraculous to endanger innocent lives the second she got it, Felix used his Miraculous to... endanger innocent lives the second he got it...

Give me a minute here. Ah, got it! While Chloe views anyone who isn't like her as expendable, Felix views anyone who isn't like him as... expendable...

Yeah, I got nothing that really justifies this.

You know, a person made the coment about how Gabriel shouldn't have been the main villain for so long, and I agree completely.

But besides Felix and Nathalie, there hasn't been a villain who is also a Miraculous holder, or at least who wishes the miraculouses of Ladybug and Chat Noir for themselves, which is... Strange, because we are talking about a wish to modify reality!

Many people, organizations, and even governments would want a piece of that! Hell, even Chloe would want some of that! Gabriel shouldn't have been the only person who was uncomfortable with his life! (And akumas do not count, because it has been well established that they are Monarch's VICTIMS)

You know what would have been great? More villains interested in the miraculouses when Gabriel was still around, you know why? Because it would not only challenge Marinette and cemented the idea of "Ladybug and Chat Noir against the WORLD", but would have also challenged GABRIEL, because now not only Gabriel would have to get Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses to get what he wants, now he would also have to get them FIRST.

Which means he would have to be on amert 24/7, becuase if it's not one of his akumas who gets the miraculouses, it would be another villain, WHICH HE CAN'T ALLOW, he would have to change his strategies, negotiate, scheme more, watch out for his own ass because he would also have people wanting to find out who he is, search for info, USE HIS BRAIN, and even serve as an excuse for Ladybug ans Chat Noir to find out who he is, because he would be dealing with so much shit he would get sloppy one day or another and give himself away!

It would have been a change of pace and made the show interesting because it would have challenged everyone, but somehow Thomas decides to take the most boring decisions for the show...

You know who could have been an interesting wild card to add to the show's rogues' gallery? Su-Han.

Think about it. He's the leader of the Order of the Guardians, the people connected to protecting the Miraculous, the show already hinted at the Guardians not being perfect due to how they caused Fu to accidentally destroy their temple, and Su-Han is trained in a martial art designed specifically to fight Miraculous users.

What if, instead of making sporadic appearances where he does nothing but yell at Ladybug, Su-Han starts opposing both Ladybug and Monarch's factions? What if he believes none of the characters should be using Miraculous, so he and the Guardians try to take away everyone's Miraculous?

That way, you'd have a third party threatening both the heroes and villains, a chance to expand on the show's lore, and possibly create situations where Ladybug and Cat Noir have to team up with Monarch.

Let's be real, Chloe should've been the next Hawkmoth more than Lila, simply because Chloe has more reasons to terrorize the city.

The whole city was against her. Her parents were against her. She lost her privilege. She lost her hero status, and with the temp heroes are all back, it adds salt on her injuries. She hates both protagonists. And she's more than likely has enough savings to get herself supplies of butterflies and a hiding place, or she can just take one of Audrey's credit card.

Meanwhile, Lila's reason is just lame and petty. She hates Marinette and Ladybug (and Chat Noir as extension, but let's be real, who even cares about him at this point? Because the writers surely don't), she has the truth about Gabe that's more than likely only gonna be used in S7 finale, and...that's about it. She has no reason to terrorize the city other than to bring inconvenience for Ladybug. She couldn't care less about Adrien if it's not to hurt Mari. And she's infamous for bending reality to get everything her way no matter how big of a BS that is.

(Yes yes, i know that Lila is smarter and it would makes more sense for her to be the villain, but if her being smart means turning everyone into amoeba brain, then i reject the idea.)

Why is this so cool? AND WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT THIS IN THE SHOW????

You guys know how much potential this had?

Tikki and plag didn't choose to just get trapped in magical jewels for the rest of their life's, they were forced to so null wouldn't destroy the univerde. Or maybe seeing how dangerous they were are they just trapped themselves? And just maybe people would spread the legend of the two magical jewels that could realize any wish, but that the consequences would be horrible. And some people tried to get them, this show loves to do social critics in secret why don't include this too? The jewels could be in some sorta of magical temple maybe a cave, or maybe in two around the world, just to stop anyone from getting it. The temple or cave being a mystical place With traps around every corner. This sanctuaries could be themed to look like creation and destruction. And after all this time someone get them, or they could just get one. This person build up a squad to try find the other one promising anything they want. And they guard the first jewel in the coldest part of china, and that would be the start From the Order of the Guardians. And after years and years of research they finally found the black cat miraculous and make a wish, but what if like, null could only set itself free after like, idk on the 100th wish, after 100 wishes null would be set free and destroy everything.

I think it would give a good contrast, it's black form could be him "trapped" and his white him "free" or perhaps the other way around?

The guardians could use the wishes to catch other kwamis, this time not for wishes just for power, they would see that the jewels have a fraction of the kwamis powers and if that used properly even humans could use these magical abilities. So they would trap more and more,

Until the insident with master fu that cased it end, finally giving the kwamis a little sense of freedom, and maybe kwamis could hate humans after what they did to them, but passing time with fu changed their little mids, and fu Showed them so much amazing things on earth they would and up falling in love with it.

And the kwamis could be like a family to master fu, because his real family died so long ago, the kwamis could be his only friends

And fu could have used null the wishes to survive, asking for water and food but never to bring his family back to life, because it would kill another family.

Tikki and plag could try warn fu about this all, but he needed to survive, what could he do? He was just a kid

Fu used mire and more wished into it came to the 99th, at that time he could have been an adult, more mature and with a job to pay for food. And would protect the miraculous into the end, because the kwamis where kinda their family, their only friends then his real family died, and if anyone put their hands in the black cat and ladybug miraculous, the world would be domed. and what once called "Miraculous" would be the end of everything

But that is just maybes lol. I am just saying that there where a lot of this they could play with and make a really good history, but they just didn't came for it, I think this show biggest flaw was being a kids show. If wasn't a kids show we could have null being evil, If wasn't a kids show felix could be the protagonist, If wasn't a kids show we could have consequences like people getting hurt etc..., If wasn't a kids show we could have gotten something at least desent.

devastated that adrien's only plans for lycée are to share classes with his girlfriend. he really can't have one single unique interest can he. like... idc that I personally headcanon that he's interested in literature and languages and stuff, he could be planning on taking classes in computer science or economics or medicine or just... ANYTHING.
