Hi all!

Very sorry for my long absence - I was having a holiday, but now I'm back and will be fully functioning in a couple of days.

To all the new members: welcome! I hope you're having a good time here ^^ Now that you're accepted, it's time to start plotting. Don't be afraid to approach anyone and start a thread ;)

Marco and Mikasa: Why

Marco nodded, “right Mikasa. I remember now,” he said. He laughed a little when she said his friends name wrong. “You got it right the second time. His name is Jean and he really isn’t as bad as he seems,” Marco said, knowing that like a lot of other people she would think badly of Jean. He was really the only one that saw the good in Jean.

"do you just do whatever Eren tells you to do?" he asks her curiously. She could always just put her hair up in a ponytail or something instead of cutting it. Not that he cared, it was her choice, he just remembered jean saying that he liked her hair.

He looked around trying to remember if he’d seen a mirror somewhere. “I think I saw one in the cafeteria,” he replied, pointing in the direction of where everyone had eating a couple hours earlier.

"I see," said Mikasa slowly, when Marco told her that Jean wasn't as bad as he had seemed. To her, it didn't really matter - she wouldn't even have that many interactions with Jean. "Eren will be mad if I don't listen to him," she answered Marco's curious question. "He's angry to me a lot of times, but... he doesn't mean it badly." 

Indeed, people have been questioning about the nature of their relationship - how she always followed him around and listened to his every words. She knew they didn't understand - but she didn't need them to. What happened between her and Eren was certainly not something that happened to just anybody, and she wouldn't blame them for not understanding her attachment to him.

"Can you take me there?" she asked. "I need someone... to help me cut my hair."

"Oh, but it's fine if you have something else to do... I can ask Armin, I mean... my friend, to do it."

Tired Thoughts [Reiner - Mikasa]

"Hm?" He turned his head when a familiar voice reached his ears and recognized Mikasa instantly and how could he not? Mikasa was the only one that graduated on top of him and rightly so because he had seen what she can do.

"Mikasa." Reiner could see on her face that she was disturbed by something and she needed the distraction. He looked at Gerhild wondering if the horse would let Mikasa close without biting and as if understanding Reiner’s internal question, the horse let out a snort and bobbed his head in approval. "Well Gerhild doesn’t seem to mind, though I be careful just in case." He stated before tossing over the brush towards Mikasa. "Here, I’ll get the other one." Reiner added as he walked over to the supply table.

"You look abit pale." Reiner remarked as he picked up one of the brushes from the crate underneath the table. The shifter pressed the bristles against the palm of his hand to test it and shook his head at it, tossing it back into the crate to pick up another one. "Are you all right?" Reiner knew that Mikasa was more than well enough to care for her own, but there comes a time where even a person like that needs to let go for a small period of time.

Mikasa walked over to Reiner's side - nodding slightly in appreciation when her companion threw her the brush. She caught it swiftly and began to approach the creature - Gerhild, as Reiner had called it. She hesitated for a while, her arms halfway stretched to brush the horse's velvety fur, when Reiner's voice prompted her.

"You look a bit pale."

"I suppose so," Mikasa replied. She pressed her palm softly to the horse's side, burying her fingers in the softness of its fur. Gerhild stomped its front feet and huffed rather impatiently, and Mikasa quickly drew her hands back - as though the horse just stung her. The creature's pair of small, chocolate-brown eyes were focused at her, and she began to feel slightly nervous. Horses weren't exactly her favorite creature, she was always afraid if they would suddenly turn violent and kick her. And this horse - if he decided to do that, she knew she could end up with a permanent injury for life.  

"I'm just not fond of rainy days - my idle body tends to rot when there's nothing to do outside..." she paused slightly, contemplating how Reiner seemed to be able to brush the creature's fur at ease. He didn't seem to be afraid even one bit.

"It's rare to see you alone, where's Bertholdt?" asked Mikasa, trying to steer away the topic, hoping to be able to put her fidgeting nerves to a slight rest.

Annie raised a brow, half-lidded eyes still set on the raven-haired girl. Hold back a little? Pff. She wanted to laugh at such a request, but instead, she just folded her arms. As she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, her gaze locked with Mikasa’s. The blonde’s dull expression continued to take over as she replied.

"Are you worried about him getting hurt? I won’t hurt him too badly, you know,” she deadpanned. “It’s good practice for him to go against someone with my hand-to-hand combat skill, though, don’t you think? I mean, you could too, but it seems you’re afraid of him being hurt.” 

The shorter female put her hands in her pockets. “I’ll consider your request, though.”

Mikasa sighed. Her relationship with Annie had never been a smooth one. Mikasa disliked her, simply because of Annie's constant high-and-mighty attitudes - always looking bored and treating everyone as though they were her enemies. The few conversations that Mikasa had with her were brief and dry. They didn't leave good impressions on her - and this conversation was no better either.

"I'm not afraid of him getting hurt," Mikasa returned Annie's words with an irritated sigh. "If it's a practice, you should know how to hold back." Mikasa paused, a little bit surprised when Annie agreed to her request. She had expected her to reject it.

"Thank you... I appreciate it. If you want an opponent of your skill, I can be your practice partner," she offered, thinking that they might be able to go into a truce for once in a while.

The Lives We Lost [Eren & Mikasa]

"H-hey, Mikasa…"

He was trying to think of a smooth way to do this. He didn’t want to just blurt out something stupid like “Go out with me!”, but at the same time he didn’t have any other good ideas.

"Uh… I was thinking, are you busy later? I…"

BINGO.

"I have a date with someone, but I don’t really know how dates work, so I was wondering if you could help me practice. You know, go on a ‘date’ with me so I can see what you do."

This was a foolproof plan that would absolutely not backfire in the least.

She stopped and turned back when she heard him call his name. For some reason, he didn't sound like his usual self - and when she looked up at him, she noticed a faint blush on his cheeks that disappeared swiftly - only leaving out his awkwardness. She was halfway to asking him if something was wrong, but he spoke first, and she felt her heart slowly sinking at his words.

"A date?" she asked him softly. "I see..." She paused to give her mind a few moments of thought,  purposedly shifting her eyes away from him. For some reason, it was suddenly hard for her to look at his face while keeping her cool, emotionless facade. The moment their eyes met, she was pretty sure that all her feelings would show on her face. And that wasn't how she wanted him to remember her - for now a thousand different thoughts had stormed her brain, and none of those was pleasant enough to ever be spoken.

Because, she was his sister, was she not? She was a friend, and a family to him, and a family wouldn't prevent him to go on dates with someone else that he liked. A family, she realized, probably wouldn't think of him so dearly, and felt how painful it was to even think of him being with someone other than her.

"Eren, I....," she started. I don't think of you as a family. I don't want you to go from my side. But she bit her lips and shook her head softly. She didn't want to sound selfish. If he didn't feel that way about her - then what's the use of pushing it? If his happiness was not with her, then what's the use pretending? She could only let go - and maybe she'd cry a little, but she'd still be with him - a friend, a family, and a companion that he needed the most.

That's all she'd ever be to him.

"I have never... been on a date either," she finally finished her words hesitantly. "But... if Eren needs my help, then I will do it," she continued, shyly. "I think... people should hold hands on dates... at least, that's what I heard."

"Oh, we... we have held hands before, but that wasn't a date... sorry." She suddenly remembered the feelings of her hand in his, and unsurprisingly, he face went bright red with embarrassment. "And... other than that, you get to call each other with 'special' names... That's all I know, honestly..."

"Adult business…? You think Levi and I are having-? We probably shouldn’t be talking about this but is that what people really think?"

"It's... what people are talking about... But you don't have to tell us if you don't want to...

"At least it's what we've heard from your conversation with Hanji-buntaichou the other day..."

"I could say the same to you. I guess we’re both unlucky, then." A small, barely noticeable huff.

"So…" She began dully after a short pause. Her reply was awkward, as she was reluctant to continue. She regretted even leaving the room. She could’ve easily been alone rather than in this conversation.

Mikasa gave a slight sigh. Annie Leonhart had never been her favorite person, and certainly wasn't on the top of the list as the first person she wanted to meet on her day off. However, she did have something to say to her - and it'd better come off now.

"Annie, about the other day... can't you at least hold back a little on your combat practices with Eren?"

Audacity [Mikasa - Jean]

Jean had never been quite sure how Mikasa kept it together. Even though he could finally understand why she had such an attachment to a brat like Eren, he still felt bad; guilty that the world could allow such horrible things to happen to just one person who didn’t deserve it. Then again, the world allowed horrible things to happen to everyone, but that didn’t make a difference. For some reason, Jean had a soft spot for Mikasa- he had thought that he was in love with her when he first saw her, but things had changed. Now he loved her like a sister, even though he still found her to be one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. Not that Jean would admit it. 

For a few seconds after he embraced her, and uttered a few words of comfort, it was obvious that Mikasa was left uneasy. He stood there hugging her, while Mikasa’s arms remained at her side. Well this is awkward…. Jean thought as he contemplated whether or not he should remove his arms from around her. Then he felt her lean more heavily into him, as if she didn’t want him to let her go. 

"I understand," Jean said, unfazed by her words. "I feel the same way about Marco. It’s sorta when you love someone so much that you couldn’t ever imagine what life would be like without them." He let his head fall atop Mikasa’s, hoping he was able to say something that would make her feel most at peace. "And you hope that you never have to."

"You don’t always have to fight for everything. I guess on the flip side it gives you one more reason to love. The world sucks, trust me, but there’s no point to live, or to fight, without that."

In the years that she had known Jean, she hadn't really bothered herself that much to get to know him. She occasionally set her attentions on him - when he was fighting with Eren, when she sat beside him in the dining hall, when they were paired for a combat practice, or the few times that they passed each other in the hallway. But not once had she tried to initiate a talk with him. She didn't want to converse with him more than she needed to. However, now that she thought about it, he really was always there by her side.

When Eren lost control of his titan form and almost killed her - Jean seemed to be the most concerned.

When she almost lost her life to a titan trying to save Eren, Jean was the one who jumped in to save her.

She should have tried to mind his feelings a little instead of cutting her hair straight after he'd told her that he loved it.

She shifted closer and put her arms around him as well, muttering a small voice of agreement. "I know," she chimed in softly. After a slight pause, she continued, "Jean... you've changed."

True, they used to have differing opinions. He always gave Eren a fair share of trouble too. But this Jean standing in front of her now wasn't the same Jean as the one she'd known. The Jean she'd known would never do this - wrapping her in his arms and comforting her softly, and knowing how it felt like to have someone that meant the world to her.

"I never thought... that you'd be the one to say these things to me. I'm sorry that I've never taken the time to get to know you," she admitted sincerely. "All this time I was too busy trying to keep Eren out of trouble, that I didn't realize... how I have such a great person by my side. Thank you, Jean."

Marco and Mikasa: Why

Marco stood up when a girl with rather long black hair came into view. He recognized her from earlier. She was friends with the kid Jean had gotten into an argument with. He was pretty sure he’d heard her name. Something that started with an M? He wasn’t sure anymore.

"I’m Marco. You’re friends with the Eren kid right?" he asked after answering her question. "I’m sorry but I don’t remember your name. What is it?" He asked and then waited for an answer.

While waiting for an answer he took the time to give her a once over. He noticed that her expression seemed cold, much like it had earlier. Then he saw the scissors. He eyed the warily hoping she wasn’t going to hurt him with those. She didn’t seem like the type of person to go around just hurting anyone, but one could never be to sure. His eyes went back to her hair. It was pretty long, maybe she was cutting it?

"um… what’s with the scissors?" Marco asked her, glancing back down at the scissors in her hand.

"Mikasa... Ackerman," Mikasa replied with a rather impassive tone when the dark-haired boy with open, freckled face stood up and mentioned his name. She nodded when the kid asked if she was friends with Eren. "That is right. And you are friends with..." Mikasa only remembered that the guy Marco was friends with was the same person who complimented her hair. "John... no, Jean...?" she asked, half-hoping that she remembered the name correctly.

She looked back at the scissors in her hand at Marco's remark - noting how the boy seemed to suddenly be wary about those. "Oh," she replied, still in the same cold, flat tone. Her free hand jumped to her hair, parting the silk black strands with her fingers as she spoke. "Eren told me to cut my hair... he said it's getting too long," she said - not looking straight at the boy in front of him. She didn't have any sort of  feelings about it in particular. Though Jean (again, if she remembered correctly) just told her how beautiful her hair was, she didn't have any reserves about cutting it. Eren was right, long hair could cause accidents in their 3dmg practices.

"Do you know... where I can find a mirror?" she asked - hoping that the boy would be able to help her find one.
