Day 23 of @yesterday-wasnt-better‘s OFF-tober challenge: My favourite OFF fangame character.

It’s Ghost Batter, specifically from @isasapiensworks‘s fangame, Continue/Stop/Rise, one of the most legendary OFF fangames! The official blog for the Batters is @triplerunningpunches (though uh, is Ghost… dead?). I think the reason why I was drawn to him in the first place was that he stood out from the Batter and Bad Batter, who most OFF players had seen in the original game. He can be foul-mouthed and harsh, but only do those who deserve such a beatdown, verbal or physical. Although he was originally based OFF of an art piece by Mortis Ghost (can’t find the original French post, sorry!), there have been different interpretations of him, such as the crying ghost in UNKNOWN by Claude Huggins, and most certainly also the creatively fleshed out sock puppet in Continue/Stop/Rise.

@ask-gamer-ghost (simply Gamer Ghost, or Gamer) was inspired off of the potty-mouthed purifier, except he didn’t go through the events of CSR - he sort of wandered around as a ghost in the purified Zones, played Pong on the computers in the Room before being transported to a different world, where he works purifying ghosts to fund his independent, gaming lifestyle. He’s an MLG pro gamer (or at least, he officially hopes to be) with a love for Doritos and Mountain Dew.

It had been a long day of searching for his Add-ons, and much to Batter’s chagrin, he had failed to find even a single trace of them. The sun was setting, and he knew he needed to stop for the night. Continuing in darkness, especially without a Puppeteer to guide him now, was extremely risky. The sportsman had not seen any save blocks thus far, either.

With a soft grunt, Batter laid down at the base of a strong tree, which sheltered him for the night. He fell asleep soon afterwards, his arms being his pillow.

...The monochrome purifier wasn’t expecting to wake up to the sight before him in the orange light of the dawn.

“I’m always up for a bit of fuckin’ Battlefield 1 nowadays, the Metal Solid series are fantastic too.

I’m a jack of all trades, really. Guitar Hero’s fun, so are strategic games like Civilization, 5′s good, but 4 is my personal favourite of the series. I can’t play any fucking Dance games on the Wii, but I’ve figured out a way around the arcade machines using my detachable arms as legs. RPG’s can be cool too”.
