Hello fellow Monstrumologists! This fall I will be making a trip to see Rick Yancey at one of his conventions. To show him his fandom is alive and well, I wanted to collect a printed archive of various fanworks in one place to give to him as a token of our appreciation for his beloved series.
It’s pretty open, in as long as it can be printed, I am accepting it. Photographs of 3-D works, artwork, poems, drabbles, you name it. Ideally I would like to have fully printed booklets of your guys’ collection. This will only be possible, of course, if we get enough entries from you, the fans, so please don’t hesitate to submit!
When the submission closes, I will make the final decisions for inclusion in the Fanzine. However any and all work collected and following the guidelines will be posted at The Monstrumarium.
● Art work and photographs must be scanned or uploaded and not blurry or pixelated. Also, when you send it or link it to me, please make sure your original work has not been scaled to a smaller size. It is much easier for me to edit the work to fit the magazine rather than trying to blow it up and it becomes distorted. If the image is a poor quality, it will not be printed.
● Subject matter must relate to The Monstrumologist series. Any interpretation, AU, or scene from the book are welcome, EXCEPT FOR:
o Any copyrighted works such as movies, comics, or other series. For example, as much as I love the idea of Rick and Morty kicking it alongside Warthrop and Will Henry, that is copyrighted material and cannot be used for this project.
o Anything that would be considered over P-13, outside of what is in the books themselves. Yes, if your heart is dead set on drawing the scene with the flies, then by all means. However, please be mindful of younger audiences as a majority of fans are not over 18. This means no suggestive themes, or drug references.
o Non-Canon romantic pairings. Please remember that this collaboration is meant as a thank you to Rick Yancey. As romantic pairings can be a difficult line to tread when the work is to be presented to the author it will be best to avoid romance not explicitly stated in the books.
● For written works, please keep it under or approximately around 2000 words. All written work must be sent as a Word document so I can edit it, as I am not able to edit PDFs. If there is a specific format you wish for your written work, please ensure that it is present when the document it sent to me.
All work should be sent to my email: [email protected] and NOT MY TUMBLR. If your artwork is on another site and you wish to send me a link, still do it via my email. We all know the hassle of tumblr’s messaging system, and I do not wish for you to send me your work and I never receive it.
