Chell stepped through the portal into what she initially believed to be the buried first levels of Aperture, but quickly let go of that notion upon seeing the armored being in front of her. Before answering, she looked back at the glowing portal behind her. She wasn’t sure what lived in this strange world but wasn’t about to take any chances of it making her own world worse, so she deactivated the portal for the time being.
Now that that was off her mind, she took a good look at her surroundings and at the armored person. It looked simultaneously higher- and lower-tech than Aperture, and the armor looked much sturdier than her Long Fall Boots. She shrugged her shoulders in reply to the person’s question and looked pointedly around the metallic area as if to ask where she was.
"You don't know? Wonderful..." The Warframe sighed at the predicament he was now in, assuming this survival mission was now part a rescue on a Grineer galleon no less. "Well, whatever you are, you're on a war vessel named "Titan" manned by a bunch of homicidal clones. If you want to live to see tomorrow I'd suggest you follow me.." Whatever this thing was, man or machine, seemed annoyed now but at the same time obligated to help and said all this with a disregard for how insane it sounded.
Chell had no idea what half of what the armored person said had meant, but she followed them anyway, trying to look inconspicuous while also scouting the ship’s hallway. She kept an eye put for cameras in particular, in case this was a strange new test.
No cameras, no speakers, absolutely nothing like the testing rooms of Aperture. Other than that, her strange escort had already started down the hall without much of a care regarding those "murderous clones" regardless if he had what looked like a shotgun in his hands.
It was somehow both a relief and a red flag that the place she was in looked nothing like Aperture Laboratories. Her portal device had been taking her to strange places lately, and if she weren’t sure it was a bad idea she’d have asked GLaDOS to look at the device and explain why. But she didn’t want to lose the ability to leave Aperture, even if it meant returning would be difficult. (She refused to call it impossible; she never thought of anything as that.)
Once they were in a safe location, the woman gave a questioning look to the armored person. She didn’t know yet when she would be able to find something to write with, and she wasn’t sure that sign language was known here, so gestures were her best bet for communication for the time being.
This safe location was deemed, well, safe, after she heard a shotgun blast and a dull thud of a body hitting the floor. She saw this armored man load a shell into his gun, cock it, and turn to see her gesturing without saying a word. Although she couldn't see his face she could tell he was at least kind of confused, as if he had never seen sign language before...which was a problem
"...What're you doing?"
Great. She was right about sign language not being known here, or at least her “rescuer” didn’t know it. She chewed her lip in exasperation for a moment before pointing to her throat and mouthing:
‘I cannot speak.’
Hopefully he understood. Even then, maybe there was some solution that would let them communicate without speaking.
"Oh great, you can't speak.."
He said mostly to himself in an annoyed matter, knowing this would make things more difficult.
"Just stay close I guess while I try and find the other mute, or, whatever mess he's left behind.."

Guardian
Whenever any of her siblings stay are over, which is a pretty common occurrence, Sydney is always the last to sleep if she even does to begin with. She is always on guard and watches over them the whole time regardless if there are literal robot ninjas there or not. It's a piece of mind thing for her, making sure they're safe, being their guardian again and again.

Sydney has been minding her business when a blue portal appeared on the ship. Out from this ominous portal stepped the slayer now in more advanced gear than he was when Sydney saw him last. “Sydney I need your help.” Was the only thing he’s said when he found the Tenno
The Tenno, much older than she was the last time he barged in, gave him a deadpan look from her spot in front of her foundry and gave him an answer he could've probably expected "And I need argon crystals, fuck off, I have things to do"
The slayer sighed “Sydney please this is serious” he said seeming desperate “VEGA display the condition of earth from the projector in my helmet”
A hologram of earth appeared with red all over certain areas. VEGA spoke up “over 60% of this version of earth has been consumed by the demonic invaders. 3 hell priest are the root cause of this invasion”
She inhaled sharply and looked at his projection, looking incredibly annoyed with both him and Vega. From the look of it she either didn't believe him or didn't care but regardless she couldn't help herself from giving him shit "And why do you come bother me? Harley not around to follow you like a baby kubro?"
“Harley is already helping” he said clearly annoyed by the comment “Sydney please this serious there are millions of lives at stake” he said clearly tired of Sydney’s aggression towards him
“I litterally am going to heaven and I’m going to fight ‘god’ soon so I want someone who can check on the dying and hiding humans”
"Ugh.." She sighed, exhausted with him already. He wasn't going to leave unless she went with him, she knew that, and if Harley was already down there she might as well make sure he gets back alright without him following
"Fine, but stay out of my way" She went down the hall away from him and after around five minutes came back with two of her warframes: Nidus and Umbra. They stood at either side of her, indifferent towards the Slayer, abs waited for her command.
“I’m not going to stay out of your way” he said “you don’t know whats out there” he again projected to hologram of earth “I’ll help for the first little bit then I’ll leave you alone”
He didn’t pay much mind to the frames after all they weren’t a threat to him
She looked like she was going to say something, probably a snarky comment, but held her tongue to save herself the trouble. "I've been to a lab before, saw some of the shit while being bitched at by a robot, let's just go.." She walked straight passed him, frames in tow, and into the portal
They ended up in an area that had both seemingly ancient stone walls and statues but also seemingly advanced tech of seemingly the same origin. Infront of them was a massive window which slowed them to see an orbital view of the hellified earth.
“I was not bitching at you” a voice familiar to Sydney said as the slayer followed behind them “shut up Hayden” the slayer said
"Oh, there he is too...yay.." Sydney rolled her eyes at the voice, now being stuck with two people she didn't want to be around in the first place. As she did though she looked around at her environment with little to no interest as if she had seen better.
The two frames stayed at her side silently, not reacting to anything around them as if they also didn't care much. Despite this, though, it was still clear that they were acting as a buffer between Sydney and literally anything around her.
Tackling his mother in a hug, Harley was shaking and crying. He hadn't even bothered to clean up before coming, so he was covered in dirt, blood, gunpowder and grineer guts. He was clinging to Katrina like his life depended on it.
The survivor's eyes widened in surprise and she dropped to a knee to see what was wrong, looking over him worriedly for any injuries that could've caused this. Anything could've happened to him, though, in the line of work he so unfortunately did but at least she could try and help
It wasn't anything beyond scrapes and bruises. But he seemed almost frightened of something, clinging to her. He hiccuped and cried, and managed to stutter out,
"They, they came back."
To her, "they" could mean a few different things regarding Harley and his less than friendly sister but with this kind of reaction she could take an educated guess. It had to either be the Orokin or those sentient things and, judging by what he's told her, it was probably the later......meaning the Lotus as well. Once she figured it out she fought back the scowl that was threatening to paint itself on her face and tried speaking to him, voice filled with nothing but concern. "They....? The...The Sentients....? What happened, Harley...?"
"They, they were gathering in the veil, sending scouts to earth. Trying to see it's defenses. We, we've been killing them, but more keep coming."
He pressed himself as close into her as he could.
"They are gonna invade. And, and some of the other factions blame us, said we did this. We brought them there."
"let me guess, the Grineer? The dumb ones?" She looked incredibly unimpressed in the stupidity of the other faction or factions in question. She knew Harley was having a problem, and knew she should be focusing more on him, but the gall of the other factions thinking he would bring those things anywhere was just too much
"Yeah, the, the one in particular that's getting in the way is sargus rok. I, I still wanna save them but it hurts, and I'm scared. I don't want to repeat the old war. I don't want them to die again."
The last bit started him off sobbing again.
"Harley, you know better than anyone that the chances of the war repeating are incredibly slim, especially with the company you're keeping nowadays.." She tried to reassure him by being logical, this was a first.
"But they have started to invade, the scouts and ships. It's repeating. We barely made it last time. I barely made it through with Volt and Trinity."
He was beginning to hyperventilate.
"Then you show them just how strong you've grown since then, every last one" She put her hands on his cheeks, looking him in the eyes to keep his attention on her and not his panicking
"But they died! Bo died! Nova died! I remember our connections severing! It hurt! It always hurts!"
He was shaking like a leaf, eyes blown in fear.
Katrina pulled him into a huge hug and held him there, her right arm around him and her left hand holding his head against her shoulder "Easy, Harley, easy..."
Harley sobbed into her shoulder for a while before he finally managed to get a grip. The feeling of security made it easier to come to terms.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have freaked out, but I had memories come back and then this happen... It's kinda taken its toll."
"Trauma is trauma, don't feel ashamed" *She gently rubbed his back comfortingly, wanting him to feel as sage as possible*
He sighed and appreciated the touch.
"The memories I think got me the most. I saw what the orokin did to us in the old war. If I had to discribe it, they drugged us and then made us into a hive mind connected to Natah."
He shuddered at this.
"Which is exactly why you're here and they aren't" She nodded, happy the Orokin were all dead and gone after what they did to him and his siblings.
