Well in case it wasn’t obvious, this blog is totally toast. Honestly, I think I’m just going to deactivate it for the sake of simplicity. I don’t want this blog to just sit around inactive, taking up an e-mail address and possibly at risk for being hijacked or something, like I’ve seen happen to some inactive blogs. But I also don’t want to go through the trouble and hassle of reblogging it all somewhere, especially since I don’t have an active art blog nor do I want to go through the hassle of making one in the near future. If I do make an a secondary art blog, I’ll probably just repost a bunch of images from Luci’s blog on there eventually, rather than reblogging all this stuff.
Anyway, if you want to keep following me, check out @ask-lucky-break. That’s my current blog, and I’ve been relatively active and productive on there. Who knows, maybe I’ll even give Luci an occasional cameo or something.
Anyway, I know some of y’all might be upset or annoyed, but let’s face it, this blog has been dead for awhile. I want to give it proper closure. Thanks for following for as long as you did, though. And I hope to maybe see some of you around on Lucky’s blog.
I’ll probably go ahead and deactivate this blog tomorrow night, after work. Give y’all some time to read this, and maybe reblog or save a few things. Until then, later folks~
Real talk for a moment, folks. If you haven’t already heard about this, take a moment to look into it. Beyond just the racism and crackdowns on protestors, journalists have been obstructed, assaulted, detained, and tear gassed. Military hardware mobilized against citizens and suppression of information? This is scary stuff to see happening the United States of America. Please don’t be left in the dark about this.
You know, at first, I was not going to post about this. One, because this is, generally speaking, a not terribly active blog (I’ll try and fix that, I will) about a pastel-colored pony. As a general rule of thumb, I try not to post anything that’s not going to bring happiness and/or entertainment to people, even if I think it matters, or I like it, or whatever. Two, because dwelling too long on this, how awful and — and I rarely use this word — unspeakable this is is really stressing me out, and it’s a level of stress I wasn’t entirely sure it was a good idea
But this is too important, too tragic and sick and wrong, too unjust and too deeply everything I’m against — and all people should be against — to just say nothing, even if I really can’t say anything important. If somehow this is the first you’ve heard of it, then, well, read what’s above and look into it. It’s important, scary stuff.
To those of you suffering or protesting in Ferguson, or who have friends or loved ones there, my hopes are with you. Not just for your personal safeties, but for the improvement of the situation at large in the community and in the nation. To those carrying out peaceful protest or showing the situation to the world at large, even when people would favor retaliation and rioting, and the police force that’s supposed to protect you respond with force, you have my undying respect for your courage.
((I've started a new ask blog, regarding one of my main OCs, a pegasus with a knack for humorous misfortune. I'm not abandoning this blog by any means; I intend to keep updating Luci when I can. Lucky is just easier for me to draw, portray, and be entertaining with, and I feel starting a blog for him will help my creativity and productivity overall. If you like slapstick comedy, inept heroes, and general Western stuff, you should totally go follow Lucky and throw him some questions.
Sorry for the OOC stuff. Just figured y'all might want a heads up!))
I’m bored and need to practice. Feel free to send some sketch/doodle requests or challenges, and I’ll try to take a stab at it. Or just say hi. Whatever works.
((Trying something new - short fiction updates! I writer better than I draw, so if y'all like this, hopefully I'll be able to bring you more! Anyhoo, check it out after the break!))
The Changeling’s eyes gave off a bright azure glow, even as her gaze itself was blank and dull. She continued to stare at the far wall, as though looking beyond the grey stonework and into nothingness and oblivion.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she spoke. Or rather, yelled.
“DAMMIT I’M BORED!!” Luci snapped in frustration, sitting up and crossing her forelegs in a huff. The green mantis on the coffee table looked up from the magazine it had been studying, and tilted its head in a gesture of curiosity. “What? Don’t tell me you’re not bored too,” the Changeling grumbled with a frown.
The mantis merely stared at her, its antennae lazily drifting up and down in typical insectoid fashion.
“Ugh,” Luci grunted, before hopping up off the sofa and beginning to pace the floor of the safehouse’s living room. “We’ve been stuck here for months, with nothing to do besides answer random folks’ questions or eat Twinkies. And don’t get me wrong, I love Twinkies, but…” Her wings buzzed anxiously. “I just need something new to do. A hobby, a distraction, a crazy mission where I almost get killed, whatever! Anything is better than sitting around here doing nothing!”
The mantis continued to stare at her, its orange eyes ever cryptic in their gaze.
“Maybe I could pick up a new skill or something?” the Changeling muttered to herself. “Learn to play a musical instrument? Meh, too much studying. Learn a martial art? Nah, too much physical activity. Become a clothes model? Bleh, fancy fashion sucks.”
The mantis’ posture seemed to become a bit indignant, its stare turning rather judgmental. The magazine beneath it happened to feature more than a few articles and editorials on aesthetically pleasing attire.
Luci didn’t notice, however. She’d suddenly stopped pacing, and her muzzle now sported a rather large grin that showed off her glinting fangs. “Oooooooo, I know! I can learn to cook! Not like I’ve got anything better to do, right?”
The mantis may or may not have rolled its eyes.
The Changeling suddenly frowned though, her shoulders slumping in disappointment. “But then again, I don’t really know where to start. I mean, I know how to eat food, but… I don’t really know anything at all when it comes to cooking it.” She let out a small, forlorn sigh… before perking up slightly.
“But then again, I think I know where I can get some help,” she purred coyly, a smirk slowly forming on her face as she turned to face the computer screen nestled in the far corner. “Those folks who ask questions and stuff all the time are always so nice and willing to help out. Or at least, let me leech their affection from them, heh heh,” she said with an impish little chuckle. “Maybe they can give me some suggestions on where to start, or recipes to try? Don’t you think that’ll work?”
The mantis didn’t respond. It was too busy scuttling off to make sure they had a working fire extinguisher.
We were just told if we don’t pay for the apartment by Sunday this weekend then we will lose the apartment till next month on the first. So we are losing the truck Friday and we’ll lose the apartment Sunday. Please I’m begging you we need your help. Without it we have no where to go but to the street.
Their paypal is on their page at the top. Any little bit helps! If need be I will take commissions to help them out, since this money is due by Sunday.
((Signal boosting because being homeless is terrible, and they need all the help they can get. If you can't donate, you can at least help spread word.))
I went out of town for like a week, then got sick for like a week, and then of course there was a bunch of other personal stuff I had to handle and work around. Needless to say, I haven’t been able to do much art, writing, or other creative pursuits for awhile, and it has taken me a bit to get caught back up on Tumblr. There are probably a few things I still missed or didn’t quite pick up on, actually. Alas.
Anyhoo, I should have some free time in the next few days, so hopefully I can get some artwork done! Woooo! Gonna try to get a Changeling Spy update or two in, at least, and then maybe some sketchwork on the side.
((Will try to get an update in soon! I've got a few asks I need to catch up on, but feel free to send in more! You never know what might kick off some creative spark, or work well in tandem with other messages Luci has gotten!))
"Mmmm, chocolate cake. My favorite! Oh, er... guess I should maybe save some for others. Maybe."
((Oh my gosh, this is adorable and hilarious. I got such a huge kick out of this. She looks so cute! Thank you very much for the art and the birthday wishes! :D))
"I’d love to give you a lesson, but I’m a little useless minus a leg. Mind bringing that back here, cutie? ˢʰᶦᵗ, ᴵ ʳᵉᵃᶫᶫʸ ʰᵒᵖᵉ ᴵ’ᵐ ᵈᵒᶦᶰᵍ ᵗʰᶦˢ ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ⋅⋅⋅⋅ᶠᶫᶦʳᵗᶦᶰᵍ ᶦˢ ᴺᴼᵀ ᵐʸ ˢᵗʳᵒᶰᵍ ᵖᵒᶦᶰᵗ⋅⋅⋅⋅"
((The cross-blog saga of Gadget and Luci’s awkward flirting continues! Aren’t they just the cutest together? Just for the record, anything that goes on between Gadget and Luci is considered AU [Alternate Universe], and thus is not canon to my blog. Woo! Bending the rules!))

((OOC: Bring it! I could use some practice with drawing clothes and outfits, and this could be amusing. Aside from outfits, feel free to request Luci in any form (pony, changeling, griffon, crawfish) or even one of the supporting characters, like Pyro Mantis or Ray. Alternatively, you can go visit my mod blog and send something in for one of my other OCs, if you want.
"Greetings, I am Luci's brother. You may call me Ray, though I'd prefer you not call me anything. I'd prefer you forget I exist after we have this conversation, actually.
As you may have noticed, my sister is not the most competent spy, or the most competent Changeling in general. Our superiors have written her off, though normally rogue agents like her are... neutralized. Thankfully I've managed to convince them not to send a Kill-Team out to silence her before she blabs about anything too sensitive. Because let's face it, most of what she could possible blab about isn't all that sensitive. Like I said, she is, or rather was, a rather shoddy spy.
Now, why am I telling you all this?
Put simply, the less she tries to do the spy stuff right now, the better. So do me a favor and don't go asking her about super-secret classified intel or other fancy spy stuff she probably doesn't know much about, or suggest she go off on crazy espionage missions or prank the Royal Guards or something. Not because you'll be wasting your time (which you would be doing), but because you'll draw more attention to her from our superiors, and they may rethink the whole 'she's not worth silencing' thing. Or, worse, the Equestrian authorities and counter-espionage agencies may take notice. As bothersome as my sister is, I'd rather her not be assassinated or executed.
Oh, and as for the inquiry as to how I myself have been doing, the answer is 'quite well.' My sister's antics, and the nonsense you lot see fit to ask her about, have proven quite amusing as of late. What? Oh yes, I keep tabs on her and what you send her. A brother has to look after his sister, after all.
Now, time time to bring our little chat to a close. Remember, the less classified intel you pester my sister about, the better for all of us. Questions about her Changeling nature or amusing comments on her attractiveness that leave her flustered and looking rather foolish? Those are fine. And this conversation?
It never happened.
We now return to our regularly scheduled idiocy..."
"I'm not a 'bug horse!' I'm a Cha... uh...
Charming unicorn! Yes. That. Not a Changeling. Or a bug horse. Which would be a very rude thing to call a Changeling. But nope, I'm just a charming, normal unicorn mare. Cute and normal. Absolutely normal.
OOC: This blog hit 150 followers a day or so ago, and I was gonna try to do a nice milestone pic. But Fuselight's post put Luci up to 161 followers, and I've been a bit too busy to sit and do art lately, so I guess the milestone will have to wait for 200. :P
Anyway, I'd just like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has followed this Tumblr, reblogged Luci's antics, sent in asks, or otherwise contributed to this blog. It's been a bit over a year now since I first created Luci, and it's been a lot of fun. I'm glad I've been able to entertain folks, but none of this would have been possible without YOU. And for that, you have my sincerest gratitude.
I know I haven't posted much lately, and I'm sorry for that. But my mother's health has been failing, and shows little signs of improving anytime soon. So I've been taking care of her, the dogs, and general housework almost nonestop the last few weeks. So it's not that I've lost interest in this blog, nor do I have any intentions of bailing. It's just been kinda hard to find the time and focus needed to do some proper art. But things will get better; they always do in my experience. I've got plenty of fun asks in the inbox right now, so expect plenty more goofy and adorable antics from Luci and Pyromantis. :3
Once again, thanks a lot to all my lovely followers and friends, new and old. This has been a ton of fun, and I can't wait to see where things go from here!
