Oh world!
It is hard to find a job eh...
I just wanted to get my home and pay my bills.
Maybe I dreamt too big.
I'm sorry people but I'm so EXCITED!!!!!!
Today I managed to create a PHRASE in KOREAN! At the beginning of this year I was just able to say some very random words (korean learners may even wonder which ones), and now here I am saying things like:
내 고양이 앞에서 있어요
my cat is in front of me
내 고양이는 검은색이에요
my cat is black
내 고양이 이름은 미루예요
my cat's name is Milù
내 고양이 생일은 4월 11일이에요
my cat's birthday is on the 11th of April.
Peopleeeee can you see why I'm sooooo happy???
Maybe I made some mistakes but I don't care... I'm ✨ c r e a t i n g ✨
Summer Goals!
In September I'll start lookin up for a job, but untill then I have a lot of free time to dedicate to languages. So, here I am and here are my
✨s u m m e r g o a l s✨
Do you feel the vibe?
3 main objective:
Finish my korean grammar book, 3 units till the end.
Practice spanish with french! I use to mash up these two languages, so now I want to do exercises in spanish but using french as main language so that I train my brain to switch between them.
Write and speak in french d'avantage.
Will I be able to do it? I don't know, but I'll try my best.

Since today it's the Ides of March...
"Tu quoque, Brute, fili mi!" (works both as a question and exclamation) are the famous Latin words that Julius Caesar is said to have pronounced after he recognized his son Brutus among his stabbers.
We occasionally repeat them mostly jokingly (especially in their abbreviated form "Tu quoque") either when we want to reprimand someone but also (faking a surprised reaction) when we find out someone we somehow trusted is at fault

Cursed relics by Julia Koerner
yall my teacher just explained french accents to me and it's like magic wtf there actually *are* rules and they make so much sense??????
... This is how I learn that there are rules I did not know in my own language.
accent aigu vs accent grave rule as explained by my teacher today:
example word: préférer
let's say i am looking at "preferer" and i don't know where to put the accents or whether they're aigu or grave.
step 1: divide word into syllables
[pre] - [fe] - [rer]
step 2: look at first syllable, which has an e that may or may not have an accent. ask yourself whether the syllable ends in a consonant.
if yes: no accent.
if no, the syllable has an accent. we just don't know whether its aigu or grave yet. in our example, [pre] ends with a vowel, so we know now there is definitely an accent on that e. we are continuing with step 3.
step 3: look at the syllable to the right of your syllable. does that syllable have a mute e, meaning an e that you cannot hear?
if yes: your first syllable has an accent grave.
if no: your first syllable has an accent aigu. in our case, we're looking at [fe], which has an e that you can definitely hear. therefore the syllable [pre] has an accent aigu.
does that always work though? let's check for the next syllable. [fe] ends in a vowel, so it must have an accent. the syllable next to it has no mute e, so it must be an accent aigu. the last syllable is [rer], which ends in a consonant, so it doesn't have an accent.
we end with "préférer", which is 100% correct.
Some late night korean studies, because I felt like this. And a photo of my cat, because... why not?
I wanted to do every day a little bit of korean, but in the end I continued to do it only when I wanted and my will didn't come every day. How funny!
Anyway the vocab list of @linguistness is great and very usefull! Thank you a lot!

The final sprint
It's September and we all know what it means:
rushing all the things we procrastinated on during the whole year✨
During this summer I felt like I was lefting language learning behind, but then I realised that actually it wasn't true. Or better: it isn't completely true.
The only thing I wasn't doing was tracking exactly what I did for each language each day, but in the end I still managed to practice some of the tongues of my interest. So I made a list of all the biggest accomplishments of this summer and here it is:
I've been in Berlin for 5 days and, for obvious reasons, I spoke English everyday (otherwise I wouldn't have survived);
I started reading a book in French (Le chant d'Achille by Madeline Miller);
I passed both the writing and the oral exam in French at the university;
I watched a whole Harry Potter movie in English;
I recorded myself speaking both in English and in French;
I continued watching videos and listening to podcasts in both French and English.
The languages that I left behind are Korean and Danish, that's why during this final sprint towards the end of this year I will prioritise these two languages!
I still don't have a plan, but I'm willing to spend a few minutes to learn something each day. I don't pretend too much, I just want to have fun while learning and I don't want to pressure myself in some unreachable goals.
I may or may not share my progresses here because, again, I don't want to feel the pressure.
That's it for now! Have all of you a pleasent language learning journey! ✈️
Vocab List Templates #3
(link to template #1 & #2)
Here’s a vocab list (based on this post) you can fill in with your own target language(s). There’s also an empty vocab list at the end in case you find additional words i missed in my lists. I’ll upload more lists with the rest of the vocab words from the post above soon too!
-> here’s a link to a Google Drive folder with the pdf files if you prefer that format
Feel free to post & share your filled-in lists for other language learners!
for anyone looking for material for comprehensible input, this site has masterlists for 45 different languages, go wild
I think my biggest problem in studying languages is actually study them.
I picked this hobby which needs consistency in order to learn something, but probably I should have learnt "how to consistency" ... before.
