At this time, many are praying to Heavenly Father for relief, for help in carrying their burdens of grief, loneliness, and fear. Heavenly Father hears those prayers and understands your needs. He and His Beloved Son, the resurrected Jesus Christ, have promised help.
•
The burdens you must carry in life are made lighter by the Savior’s Atonement. When He was about to be crucified, the Savior described the way He helps lighten loads and gives strength to carry them. He knew that His disciples would grieve. He knew that they would fear for their future. He knew they would feel uncertain of their capacity to move forward.
•
He promises us: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
•
I bear my witness that the Lord has asked each of us, His disciples, to help bear one another’s burdens. We have promised to do it. I bear my testimony that the Lord, through His Atonement and Resurrection, has broken the power of death. I give my witness that the living Christ sends the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, to those we are pledged to help Him comfort.
"As we read and ponder the scriptures, we will experience the sweet whisperings of the Spirit to our souls." - President Thomas S. Monson
"Abraham was able to hope against hope—that is, he was able to believe in spite of every reason not to believe." -Jeffrey R. Holland
...
"Because the Restoration reaffirmed the foundational truth that God does work in this world, we can hope, we should hope, even when facing the most insurmountable odds. That is what the scripture meant when Abraham was able to hope against hope—that is, he was able to believe in spite of every reason not to believe—that he and Sarah could conceive a child when that seemed utterly impossible. So, I ask, “If so many of our 1820 hopes could begin to be fulfilled with a flash of divine light to a mere boy kneeling in a patch of trees in upstate New York, why should we not hope that righteous desires and Christlike yearnings can still be marvelously, miraculously answered by the God of all hope?” We all need to believe that what we desire in righteousness can someday, someway, somehow yet be ours." -Jeffrey R. Holland
How would you respond to help?
@davidabednar posted a video on Instagram about how he hears Christ through the scriptures.⠀
"Recently, I was asked how I hear the voice of the Lord in my life. One of the ways I #HearHim is through studying the scriptures. The scriptures are the pre-recorded voice of the Lord. And it is not hearing an audible voice, per se, although that can happen. It is hearing the scriptures in a feeling. A feeling in your heart."⠀
How do you #HearHim in your life?⠀

"No injustice, no persecution, no trial, no wound, however deep, will be excluded from the comfort, peace, and lasting hope of Him whose wounded hands will welcome us back into His presence." -Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
In this special year as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the First Vision, I invite you to think deeply and often about this key question: How do you hear Him?
Please join us for a Face to Face event for youth with President and Sister Oaks. The event will be a follow-up on the new Children and Youth program. President and Sister Oaks plan to share ideas about how to be successful in becoming more like Christ through this inspired effort. We invite you to gather in homes, meetinghouses, or other locations to participate. You can view the event on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Facebook page, YouTube, or https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/face-to-face/?lang=eng. Share what you are doing to come unto Christ on social media using the #strivetobe. See ChildrenandYouth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org for more information on the Children and Youth program.
"When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego refused to bow down and worship a golden image set up by the king a furious Nebuchadnezzar told them that if they would not worship as commanded, they would immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. 'And who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?'⠀ ⠀ "The three young men quickly and confidently responded, 'If it be so [if you cast us into the furnace], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand.' That sounds like my eighth-grade kind of faith. But then they demonstrated that they fully understood what faith is. They continued, 'But if not, … we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.' That is a statement of true faith.⠀ ⠀ "They knew that they could trust God—even if things didn’t turn out the way they hoped. They knew that faith is more than mental assent, more than an acknowledgment that God lives. Faith is total trust in Him.⠀ ⠀ "Faith is believing that although we do not understand all things, He does. Faith is knowing that although our power is limited, His is not. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of complete reliance on Him."⠀ ...⠀ "'...And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them.'⠀ ⠀ "So there we have it—it’s a test. The world is a testing place for mortal men and women. When we understand that it’s all a test, administered by our Heavenly Father, who wants us to trust in Him and to allow Him to help us, we can then see everything more clearly."⠀ ...⠀ "We must understand that great challenges make great men [and women]."⠀ ...⠀ "He has the power, but it’s our test."⠀ ...⠀ "[The Lord will...] but if not, … we will trust in the Lord."⠀ ⠀ (Dennis E. Simmons Of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. "But If Not ..." The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, April 2004, General Conference)⠀
When Joseph Smith had a question he remembered a scripture found in the Bible that said, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." (James 1:5)⠀
This invitation goes out to all-‐men, women, and children.⠀
What question(s) do you have for the Lord? Maybe you could start with asking how the Lord feels about you and your mission on the earth, as President Nelson suggests. ⠀
President Nelson said, "If you ask with real intent, over time the Spirit will whisper the life-changing truth to you."⠀
Joseph Smith said, "If he [God] gave wisdom to them that lacked wisdom, and would give liberally, and not upbraid, I might venture."⠀
Give it a try. Trust that the Lord will answer your prayer.⠀
