DELTARUNE GEARBUILDING

The equipment system in Deltarune is surprisingly deep and there's a lot you can do with it, but I feel like most players ignore it. If you're saying, "It's Deltarune, the stats don't matter!" then congratulations, you're my target audience here. It is genuinely kind of insane how much of a difference having good gear can be in this game. But I feel like getting into the technical side of this game is pretty hard. So, I've created a resource.

What do you think of the connection Kris has to trees?

Not sure how much of it is a Kris thing specifically. It's more that they have these broader symbolic meanings that all seem to coalesce with Kris.

Off the dome, the ways in which they have been used so far are:

As blockades. They make up most of the "border" around Hometown and the Island Boards. They even seem to be the basic/default blockades in Mantle, as even in locations where plant-based blockades aren't thematically fitting they still appear, specifically ones that resemble the autumnal Hometown trees. And of course they serve as a mental block for Kris.

They exemplify this "As above, so below"-type idea, or rather represent a connection to the "below." They're in that "ROOTS" prophecy panel for a reason—they're like a surface view or a hand reaching up from it.

They have to do with memory in general. Trees can be quite old, sometimes being a symbol of the passage of time itself. They chronicle their own history through their inner rings. Oh and "The axe forgets; the tree remembers." proverb is probably relevant, as we're definitely supposed to be thinking about the relationship between trees and axes.

Fascinatingly, Kris has had two weapon options added per chapter so far, if we include secret boss items.

Susie Weapon Rundown

Less I can say here. Devilsknife is the only Susie weapon that benefits the healing she acquires in later chapters.

Ralsei Weapon Rundown

Some notes:

FiberScarf inexplicably has [+3 ATK +2 MAG] in Chapter 3, then returns to its original stats in Chapter 4 onwards.

BrokenScarf's stat buffs are unlisted, and do not show on the Power menu, but do mechanically affect gameplay... if the item is modded in at a point where Ralsei is accessible.

BlueShoes are currently the only Ralsei weapon with an ability/effect that is actually mechanical, and isn't just cute flavor text.

ScarfMark, BlueShoes, and BrokenScarf are the only Ralsei weapons that grant DEF.

Barring Shadow Crystal Boss items, the highest available ATK buff from scarfs at the moment is +6, and the highest possible MAG buff is +2.

no but literally, ALL of the hardest attacks in that fight are after Susie says something cocky or talks about how the knight doesn't have friends like she does

the knight opens the titan fountain after Susie points out they keep running away in the Light World

I see a lot of analysis about why the knight summoned the titan, but imo it wasn't a calculated move at all. plus Ralsei seems shocked which implies it wasn't in the prophecy
