Aster Sebastian | District 4 | 17 Youngest child of Madge and Kyan Sebastian. Brother to Zale and Callie. Although he is 16, like his sister, they’re not actually twins. They were born 11 months apart. He finds it hard to talk about his feelings and things on a personal level but despite this he can still be the life of the party. His walls are up almost constantly, except for around his mother. Aster is a ‘momma’s boy’ through and through- she’s the only one he can truly open up to and he’s very protective of her, in part because when he was young he overheard a conversation between his parents that revealed she had nearly died giving birth to him. He hates it when Callie antagonizes her and it’s one of the few times where he will openly speak his mind, to tell his sister off.

That’s called making a point honey. /leans over to whisper to her while Melosia is muttering and can’t hear/ I’m proud of you for sticking to your guns kiddo. /Straightens up and clears his throat/ Sure honey. I’ll deal with her. You just relax, okay?

[melosia-keene]

I know you’re trying to stick to your morals, Hazel, but this is going to hang over your head forever, and it could affect whether or not you get into a college. /sighs and shakes her head/ I’m going to trust that your dad is going to take care of this. /glances over at Aster/ This better be a one time thing. And if she really is deciding to continue to harass you after this, we’ll get your classes switched.

[hazel-sebastian]

/sighs/ Whatever. I did what I thought was right, and I’m sorry that you had to get the call and all, but I’m not sorry I hit her. I make good grades. This shouldn’t matter. /grins as he whispers in her ear and whispers back/ Thank you, daddy. /smirks to herself/ I’ll help him out at work every day, mom.

Honey, you know Hazel will be just fine. We'll discipline her, she won't go hitting anyone again. It'll be fine. /slides his arm around Melosia and kisses the top of her head affectionately/ Relax beautiful.

So you’re trying to make a point by not apologising and getting suspended? /Manages to sound unimpressed even though he’s quietly proud of his lil girl/ I guess I can handle three days of making sure you don’t act up while you’re suspended. /Winks at her again when Melosia isn’t looking/

/eyes widen/ Hazel! Why in the world would you do that!? You could have gotten off so easy, and yet you pulled yourself in some deep…shit. /mutters Spanish under her breath/ You can be in charge of this one this time around because I already dealt with our other problem child, and that’s obviously not working that well.

[hazel-sebastian]

I’m not trying to make a point at all! I told you, apologizing would only embarrass me and give her more of a reason to make fun of me. She gave me a really fake apology and I know she didn’t mean it, so I refuse to give her a genuine one when I’m not sorry. She brought Joseph into it, and it just wasn’t fair. /sighs a breath of relief when Aster winks again and she hears he has to look after her/ I’m sorry, I just got angry. She always gets away with it, and I was done letting her have the upperhand.

/shrugs slightly at Hazel with wide eyes, glancing at Melosia/ Of course she did. So how long is this suspension again?

/looks over and gasps/ She only got off with that!? Why didn’t they give her the same punishment as you? She was bullying you, and that is just as bad!

[hazel-sebastian]

I think they said three days. /bites lip and keeps her head down/ I…was offered the same punishment, but I said I’d rather..take the suspension. /tries to defend herself/ Only because I know she’d be horribly mean to me the next day anyways! Nothing would change!

See, your father is right. I know bullying is wrong, but you could have reported it to a teacher. /sighs and closes her eyes, rubbing her temples/ Did they give that other girl a suspension?

[hazel-sebastian]

There wasn’t a teacher in the room to report anything to. /narrows her eyes at him before pursing her lips to keep from laughing/ I’ll remember that for next time. Uh…no. She got off with a detention and a few apologies to write..

/rolls her eyes/ Mom, she was making fun of me. She even said some stuff about Joseph. She started it. /sighs and looks over at Aster for help/ I know..

Headcanon: The Accident pt. 1

It was meant to be a fun day out for two best friends. Things were going well for Chase and Aster, Chase was paying back the money Aster owed him and Aster was beginning to trust him again. Chase had bought a car and in a generous gesture, he said it was for Aster (who had been saving almost everything he earned without an intention of buying one).

So what did Aster do? He organised to go away for a couple of days with Chase, driving wherever it took them. Two young men off an adventure. Madge had fretted and told them both to be safe and Aster promised her they would be, kissing her on the cheek before climbing into the car and going to pick Chase up.

The first part of the journey was great, sort of like old times, at least in terms of how comfortable they were with one another. Joking, laughing, listening to music and winding down the windows to enjoy the way the wind rushed in and through their hair.

But as always, these things have the potential to go terribly wrong... and they did.

Aster eased out of the intersection after checking they were free to go, and neither of them even noticed the car that came zipping up just a moment later, out of no where. It hit the car and sent it careening. Aster hit his head on something... and after that everything went black.

Three Years Gone By

Aster finished high school but never thought that he was smart enough for university and if he was honest, he didn’t really want to continue schooling. Of course, other than surfing he didn’t know what he was good at or what he wanted to do. When he confided this in Melosia, she told him that if surfing is what he wanted to do, then he should do it.

He ended up getting a job with the lifeguards- at first he was a volunteer being trained but soon after he was offered a paying job and he took it. That was also when he got the chance to become a surf instructor and he took this chance too. He still surfs in competitions and is gearing up for a big competition which he hopes to win. His young students have promised to cheer him on and he’s competing against a coworker or two. All of this surely has impressed his father. 

Chase found out that Aster had used all the money his grandparents gave him to pay off his debts and the two of them have been rebuilding their friendship. Chase has also begun to pay Aster back the money, slowly but steadily.

Melosia asked Aster to move in with her, at her apartment and although he was a little reluctant about leaving his mother, Aster agreed. Madge has his youngest, adopted sister to care for now anyway. She’s almost three and Aster was always fine with his parents adopting.

He’s quite happy with life but is working hard to save up so he and Melosia can have a place of their own that isn’t an apartment- he’s always wanted to buy a family home. At 20, he’s almost ready to propose to Melosia (even though the ring will take a chunk out of his house funds), knowing that she’s the one he wants to be with forever.
