Astromance one year anniversary fic🥹
(Romance is referred to as Min-jun in this, as it is pre-saja boys.)
Everyone knew soulmates were a thing, why wouldn’t they. Everybody that passed by was holding hands and loving each other, it was hard to ignore.
Astro never felt the need to find their soulmate, it was never in their plans. Just go to college in Korea, live there for a while, and finally get away from America for once in their life.
Min-jun on the other hand was different. He yearned to find his soulmate, but while being a trainee, he would find that it would be more difficult than he thought. Harsh hours, impossible schedules, insane demands. He hardly got out of bed most days. But that ache to find his destined person always shined bright.
Its pretty easy to find your soulmate, eye contact is the only requirement. It’s rather fulfilling, honestly.
Truthfully, the way they met was embarrassing to say the least. Min-jun was on one of his few and only breaks from training, stopping by a convenience store to buy coffee. With how little sleep he got, he needed it, maybe he can sneak a snack or two. Astro was busy working the register, while trying to keep up with her loans she took out, she had to work several shifts. Luckily she wasn’t horribly bad at speaking Korean, which made it so much easier.
Min-jun grabbed all of his things and headed to the counter to pay, he was expecting just a quick glance and pay, then he can leave. What he wasn’t anticipating was, well, when he looked them in the eyes something shifted. For both of them.
The two stared at each other for a moment, not able to fully process whats happening. Everything around them seemed to quiet down, nothing was moving. All they could see was each other and nobody else mattered.
The second she snapped out of it, her face went from completely shocked, to full on embarrassed in just a few seconds. She scanned his items faster than she had before and quickly just pushed them towards him with a “have a good day..” and refusing to make eye contact with him again.
He grabbed his things and left, he knew what just happened. He finally found her. The smile on his face was impossible to get rid of, and when he arrived back to his current home with the other trainees, it was still there. Jae-hyun (Baby) noticed this new found happiness and asked him about it. “What’s with that smile on your face?”
“What’re you talking about?”
“That smile you won’t get rid of. You left all sad and tired and now you’re back and can’t stop smiling. It’s freaking me out!”
“I..I think the worker at the convenience store by the corner might be my soulmate..”
Jae-hyun paused, then started laughing uncontrollably. “Minjae!! Get in here!!” He yelled between laughs.
When Minjae(Abby) stepped in, all he saw was Min-jun sitting there with his face bright red, and Jae-hyun giggling and rolling around on the couch. “Jae-hyun whats going on.”
“HAH..Min-jun!! He! He thinks the girl working at-at the convenience store- oh my gosh. IS HIS SOULMATE.” He started slamming his fist onto the couch.
“The foreigner girl with the multicolored hair?” Minjae asked.
“Her hairs pink dumbass..but yeah, her. And I’m serious! When we made eye contact something..changed. It was weird. But I-I’m convinced!”
“Whatever man, believe whatever you want. But don’t be upset when she doesn’t think the same.” Minjae ended with, grabbing Jae-hyun by the arm and dragging him out of the room. Min-jun sat there, staring at the floor, thinking of what to do.
Astro thought about him for the rest of her shift, unable to waver the same feeling. When she finally clocked out and reached her small apartment, she immediately went on her phone to see if they could find his instagram, snapchat, tiktok, anything! She even tried facebook. When she finally found it, she didn’t know if it would be creepy to follow him on insta, probably yeah. But then if he felt the same way he would know her name and could contact her! But if he didn’t..then it would be awkward. She followed him anyways. “YOLO, I guess.” Is all she said as she clicked the small button on her screen. “I..wonder if I will ever see him again..”
To nobodys suprise, she did.
A few days after their first time meeting, Astro got the courage and messaged him on instagram. She had to hype herself up for about an hour, but thats besides the point.
A: Hey. I was the cashier at the convenience store you went to a few days ago. I know this is going to sound super weird and creepy..But would you maybe want to go out sometime? I thought you were really cool and I want to get to know you better.
“Oh my god I sent it. Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god!!” She put her face into her pillow, it was so embarrassing for her. Luckily, he messaged her back rather quickly.
M: I would love to go out with you. I am so glad you messaged me, I’ve been thinking about doing it since you followed me lol. When were you thinking?
“HOLY SHIT!!” Astro yelled, receiving an angry pound on the wall from her neighbor. “He messaged me back..oh my god..” She looked around, as if to see if anyone was watching her. Quickly typing back:
A: Theres a cute coffee shop that opened up recently, would you wanna meet up there?
M: I would love to. Saturday at noon?
A: Works for me. See you there!
Astro began to squeal, kicking her legs like she was back in middle school.
Min-jun on tbe other end was panicking, in a good way, somehow. He didn’t know what to wear. He didn’t know how to act..
All they know is they’ve found each other, and if they are right about the whole soulmate thing, then its destined to go well.
