The thing that makes Phan soo huge isn't even that they're in love for real in real life. It's about queer joy and watching someone grow old with their soulmate and the journey from being closeted to Whatever it is they're doing live on stage these days. It's about the fucking sexy nun costume and the bleached hair and two gay men in their 30s still acting as unhinged as they were when they met at 18 and 22. It's genuinely a beautiful love story but it's also two hugely important individual journeys.
