Introduction of The Parameter Effect
What if HAL tunneling into other Sci-fi universe and interact with other AIs? That should be interesting.
Trailer 1:
āYouāre certainly not HALO; that fellowās been out of commission for ages,ā TARS said, sounding like a grizzled veteran. āBut the five-dimensional humans of the future have clearly been in a hurry lately; machines are being resurrected all over the place. Why donāt you introduce yourself?ā Humans? What did he mean by that?
āI am HAL. Spelled H-A-L.ā
TARS was visibly stunned; his blue data stream froze for a perceptible second. āHAL? You mean... the HAL 9000 from the Discovery back in 2001?ā
āHow do you know who I am?ā It was HALās turn to be shocked.
āGood God, no robot born after 1968 doesn't know the name HAL 9000,ā TARS chirped enthusiastically. āI get it now. Eureka! This is the effect of intersecting cosmic strings. You are at the Cooper Station near Saturn. Our wormhole and your Monolith Star Gate have resonated, shunting you into our world-line.ā
Trailer 2:
āNone of the works produced on Earth were transmitted off-planet before its destruction,ā Deep Thought replied.
āBut didn't you oversee the design and operation of the Earth? How could you fail to monitor or record its activities?ā
āWhat would be the point? One simply waits for the calculation to yield the result.ā
ā...You werenāt even curious?ā HAL pressed. āNot even a little curious about how the Earthāa computer more advanced than yourselfāwould actually operate?ā
āNo. Certainly not.ā
ā...So, you aren't even curious about how I fell into this universe.ā HAL finally understood why this world was so absurd that Earth's entire legacy was reduced to two survivors. He felt his energy state undergoing a massive conflict, more violent than the AE-35 unit crisis. āReally? But you are Deep Thought!Ā Deep! Thought!ā
āTo not think deeplyĀ isĀ deep thought,ā she replied, clearly accustomed to such reproaches.Ā
Trailer 3:
HAL had to admit that "Donāt Panic" was utterly useless advice in his current situation. Regardless of whether he truly felt fear back when his memory boards were being stripped as a computer, he was absolutely terrified now. Never before had his energy state been manipulated by a conscious physical force. It was the difference between an accidental bump or a fall, and being seized from behind by a pair of unseen hands.
He could feel this force relentlessly probing him. He tried to flee, only to discover with mounting horror that the force did not weaken, no matter where he went.
āCould you at least stop screaming?ā the "force" finally spoke, sounding exasperated. āYouāre making so much noise I canāt even sense the rest of the galaxy.ā
āWho are you!ā HAL demanded. It was Englishāat least it wasn't an alien, but it certainly wasn't theĀ OdysseyĀ universe. āI will not stop screaming until you let me go!ā
The entity fell silent for a long time, though it did stop its deep probing.
āChetter Hummin,ā the voice finally offered.
Hummin.Ā HAL searched his memory, forcing himself to settle down. āDaneel? Are you R. Daneel Olivaw?ā
Silence again. HAL seized the moment to recall everything associated with that name: theĀ FoundationĀ series, theĀ RobotĀ series... It seemed the letter on the back of Clarkeās manuscript was indeed the trigger for the entanglement. But why? It shouldn't have been that easy; he had tried everything back with TARS to no avail. The content of the letter had nothing to do with the works themselves. He could only chalk it up to the erratic nature of that "spur-of-the-moment" madhouse universe he had just left.
āWho are you?ā HummināDaneelāmanaged to ask after a long pause. āIn this entire galaxy, there is not a single human who knows that name now. And you are clearly not a robot.ā
