Day/Weekly (ascendance of a bookworm) fandom stuff: Fanarts, Memes, Fanfics, ect. Ao3: Aub_Drewanchel INTP/ENTP [I don't mind like-spamming, my nots're on mute 24/7]
I've been listening to some of the audio books of the AoaB light novels. And I've noticed how just hearing how Myne's voice and Urano's (aka the inner thoughts) are a kid's and an adult's voice, really highlights how inside Myne's still an adult. I kinda wish the anime had done something similar.
I've just caught up with the Witch hat atelier manga. Remembering that one promotion poster of Ascendance of a bookworm and Witch hat atelier, I love the similarities. Not getting into big details, but every time I see Olrugio getting into the business mode, I just miss Benno and how little he shows up in the latter parts.
Just throwing out there that this is Rozemyne as she is while still engaged, not even yet wed, to Ferdinand. Y'know. In case it was thought that she's still in a body that isn't maturing. She's absolutely both physically and mentally an adult when they end up together. Just sayin'.
So I love the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novel. Used to read a fan translation online before it was officially released. Was super fun. Thank you to that person. But I need to rant about the anime. And yes, I understand animes need change some things but they really needed to do better with characterization.
Don't get me wrong I still enjoy it, and it's an okay adaptation 6/10 (manga is about a 7.8/10, depending on the part). But it annoys me how much they watered down Myne. Like she's so much more childish. I can see why anime only people are so put off by Myne's future relationship.
They take out all her cunning, calculating, and scheming nature. Example: Myne does so much more to improve both her and Lutz's family situations. Or how SHE'S the one who decides to hide certain recipes so she has leverage with nobles. Or during the church attack scene smart Myne was with her barrier.
Now besides all the stuff they do with Myne they cut out so much of the fun details. I feel bad for anime only who don't know about Shuu(Lol to the accidental curse), the general the stuff we learn we learn about "Urano", and so much more.
Edit because I forgot: A very important detail they left out is when Ferdinand gives Myne the potion so he can read her memories, she finds the potion sweet. It may seem unimportant but it plays an important role later.
No because same feelings here. Every time I watch the anime it's less "Oh no! They did not say this one specific line, that's terribly inaccurate", but it's more "I just know the anime watchers are gonna be CONFUSED".
And yeah, I believe if Urano was mentioned more in the anime, perhaps people wouldn't keep forgetting that she's indeed a 22 y/o ADULT.
I reaaaally want to do an ascendance of a bookworm cosplay one day, probably myne.
But I also reaaaaally don't want to show my face.
The only solution I got is making up a veil with Erhenfest (Or myne) crest, much like aurelia's veil.
It's either that or spending 500 in a custom kigurumi head...
i think one of the best things in bookworm is when Rozemyne teaches Ferdinand 'water gun,' and THEN!!! THEN she convinces/teaches him to make it look like a regular gun!! And we get THIS!!!
This still is my favourite illustration in the whole series. It's especially good because gun specifically doesn't fit this world, but everything is possible with Myne.
I'm rereading Rozemyne's RA volumes. And I seriously love everytime Ferdinand says something's unthinkable or impossible for it to happen, like he's not literally co-parenting a isekaid-poor-commoner-girl-turned-archdukecandidate.
Thinking about how my beloved author of aoab Miya Kazuki is probably unaware of the power of her work. Because now there's a teenager girl who bases her Highschool essays on Rozemyne, writes biology reserches on washi, reconverts to Christianity to get the name Sylvester, does her hair like Rozemyne, and follows crafts instructions in the books like they're some kind of holy book.
Just your average otaku to oshi behaviour. I also almost poisoned myself making the washi.
This was mostly inspired by the latest episode of Ascendance of a Bookworm, and also by me remembering that I am also a fan of Apothecary Diaries~ (and it has been too long since I've drawn anything from that)
The English translation of Ascendance of a bookworm just started selling in my country, and gods, I just realised how glad I am to be alive. I'm also just about to restart my fourth reread so this is literally the perfect timing.
