“Maybe some, but I got over it quick. A few beers, maybe some vodka and sex with someone was all I ever needed. You’re my friend. And bub, really? Damon tamed her, you should have seen her before all that. Her and I used to tear shit up. But then between Damon and both of us having kids, it all calmed down. How is she my Damon? I already have one Damon in my life, I do not need two. You’ve done a lot more right than just DJ, give yourself some more damn credit than that.”
“You could have easily said I was a slam piece that you liked visiting on the weekends, but friend is fine too. I mean, the better way to put it would be Damon’s my Brae. The family that sees the good in you. Seriously, what more have I done right except DJ? Come on now. My son will always be my greatest creation.”
“I always try to warn them that I have a very possessive wife, but they just tell me I should choose another job. One day I should actually just attempt to dance for them so they can see how terrible I am and realize they’re idiots. And I love you, more than anything. You know it’s the same for me, right? I always be here for whatever you need.”

“I was a badass and a legend at McKinley, I still have people coming up to me about it. Why wouldn’t I want that for him? As long as he uses a condom. It’s not like I’m gonna expect him to wait until marriage, that shit isn’t realistic at all.”
“Bro, for real. Good on you and all of that, letting him do things as such, but how the hell is he gonna learn all of that? One measley sex talk, bud. At least tell him where babies come from.”
“Nana’s cupcakes? Wait, I remembered the wrong recipe.” Damon shook his head. Back in their golden pre-adulthood days, he remembered having heard mentions of Puck’s Nana’s special cupcakes. Not the kind they could feed their children. He frowned, a confused wrinkle settling between his eyebrows, and he barely had come back to his senses to wipe his mouth on a napkin when his beloved wife took his clean plate off the table, giving him a questioning look. Had he been quiet for too long? He smiled up at her, his mind distracted, and shot up off his chair to grab Max’s leash. “Be back in twenty. Don’t open that ice cream without me - or I won’t have any when I come back.”
“Not those oh god not those”, Braelyn’s eyes widened and ushered their kids up to change into their pajamas; but before Damon left, she blew him a small kiss. Once he left and the kids were already settling down, she brought out the pint of ice cream and started piling out into three different cups--two for the twins, one for them to share because it was cute as fuck to do so.
“I’m sure it’s a great feat. But, at the same time, we’ve all left high school and I guess it’s expected to act differently if you want to grow up a little. Just a little, not too much. Not sure - that is, I got good grades. I was in the Cheerios the whole time I was there, which was kind of cool, and I made some friends. Even if my dating experience wasn’t the best back then. Would you redo stuff?”
“Nah, going back to high school right now just seems like a drag. It was a real drag for me, only because I ran away from New York, you know. After I got pregnant and ran away. I wasn’t allowed back home and Damon took me in. Forever grateful for him, to be honest. I remember Cheerios. Made my life a living hell.”
“Is there a Rapunzel in that show? I hear their Captain Hook is pretty, though. Everybody knows my weakness. Another weakness is men who can sing. Well, I do look more like her than I would icy-blonde Elsa or redhead Anna, don’t I?” Leah paused, head tilted to one side, then blushed furiously. “Um, y-yeah, I thought you knew. Anna helped us set it up and all. Is that weird for you?”
“There is a Rapunzel, but she’s not as you might then. Men who can sing, huh? Does Jonah sing for you then? You do, you do; but that’s because you’re built like a Disney princess to begin with, Leah.” The blonde gave the other a small look, a wide smile on her lips at this point. “He’s a good man, good looking man. Great choice, darling.”

“Yeah, and you became a baby daddy to two women before you turned twenty-one. Not that I don’t love Landon, because I do and I thank you for fucking Morgan and her dropping him off to us--but like, bruh. Our kids become extensions of us or some shit like that. Do you really want another you running around?”
“You’re free to be as selfish with me as you want. Especially if people keep mistaking me for a stripper and groping me. You are the absolute best at taking care of me, basically I’m the luckiest guy on the planet.”
“That’s not your fault, Mr. August. Only I’m allowed to grope you. That’s not fair. No, honey. I just love you. That’s it. And if loving you is taking care of you, then by golly I’ll always take care of you.”
“I didn’t pine, I’m not some douche from a romance movie. I just picked the wrongs girls, that’s all. There was no pining. Woah woah woah, I never said I would change you moving here. But you aren’t my cousin that’s basically my sister, I dunno if I would have made it through a lot of shit without her. Though if you tell her that I’m happy she moved here, I might never speak to you again. Hell no, DJ is my little dude. And Landon would be very unhappy.”
“There is some pining. Come on now. Be serious. There had to have been some pining. Then what am I to you, bub? Brae’s a good girl, wouldn’t any anyone else for my Damon. You’re lucky she’s family; but eh. Secret’s safe with me. She’s your Damon. If that makes sense. Damn straight. DJ’s quite possibly the one thing I managed to do right.”
“He said they’d have accents. He knows my weakness. I can’t watch Frozen because I like Tangled better, and that was another queen with a happy ending, and a hero that kind of looks like my boyfriend. Yes, that’s the one. I can’t say I’ve read it, myself, but wasn’t it helpful? He does. I’m being cautiously happy, but I’m happy. I haven’t been in a relationship since high school, unless we count a summer I spent with Calvin.”
“So does Once Upon a Time and it’s much better and cuter and nicer. I know. I know your weakness. Is that because you identify with Rapunzel even more so than Elsa or Anna? Ooh, so Jonah looks like Flynn Rider, huh? Wait, Jonah...looks like Flynn Rid--”, the blonde paused for a moment before screaming. “Are you dating Jonah Smythe, my doctor?!”
“Oh, it was a very long time ago. Now they’re all responsible people. To when they were younger or to when we were? Because it wasn’t really all that long ago. I would like to tell my younger self some stuff and prevent her from some fears becoming realities but, then again, I’m not so sure we should change the past and mess with our futures, Butterfly Effect style.”
“Oh well, that’s good. Being responsible for about six years is something to be proud of me for too. Nah, it’s only been five years. How fucking insane has that been? No? Not even going back and redoing school?”
“I’m assuming you know her, since you always goes into her bookstore right next door after you get your cupcakes.”
“Savannah? You don’t want to mess with her. She’s pregnant and really craving sweets. Most of them are really for her. She’s scary. Not as scary as I was when I was pregnant five years ago. I think I craved and ate so much then. I gave no fucks. How are you guys as building mates? Do you have an apartment upstairs as well?”
