Academie is a husband wife duo from South Africa. Multi-instrumentalists Jean-Louise (Dear Reader, Fulka) and Alex Parker (ISO, Future Kings) are both long time established musicians in the scene back at home. They unite to delight us with a sweeping grand combination of acoustic and electronic on Volumes. The song was written and recorded in Academie’s home earlier this year. Emotive saxophone, lush guitar, airy synths, and crystalline vocals by Jean-Louise combine on the gorgeous gem, its vivid attributes much like a merging of Young Galaxy with Atlas Genius. Volumes is the title track from Academie’s debut EP, due out May 20th on all major outlets.
I first fell in love with Metronomy’s wonky indietronica circa 2011, just before they dropped their Mercury Prize winning album The English Riviera. That full length still ranks high on my all time albums chart. Though it was a tough task for 2014′s Love Letters to compete with that incredibly creative release, I still enjoyed that album profusely. Metronomy has just announced their next album, SUMMER 08, which is due out July 1st, and I’m just as excited for it as I was for Love Letters. The UK band have also unleashed a new song and music video named Old Skool. It’s so unimaginably good to hear their quirky pop once again, and I’m falling all over again for its unmistakable Metronomy qualities… slinking vocals, disco chugging beats, and an overall frisky romping spirit. Addictive cowbell and frenetic turntablism by Beastie Boys’ Mix Master Mike add to the song’s magnetic decadence. Welcome back, Metronomy.
YAY METRONOMY!

Alo Wala - Cityboy
ALO WALA, meaning “The light vendor” in a Bengali and Hindi melange, is a live electronic music band employing a host of global influences on their sonic palette. Featuring Chicago-born rapper Shivani Ahlowalia and Tropical Bass pioneers Copia Doble Systema, the live show swanks energetically-charged vocals delivered by Shivani; hefty percussion from boy wonder Julius Sylvest; bombastic uproar from the original tropical Viking, Copyflex and hypnotically magniloquent live visuals from VJ Mad Es. Pvris - My House
Okay so I haven’t been listening to this kind of music for a few years now, but goddamn, they remind me so much of my roots- Paramore, FOB- what can I say, I’m a sucker for female alternative vocals. They’re a step above Paramore in my opinion for their electro-pop feel, or maybe that’s just what I’m into these days. Wouldn’t put them up with my favorites, but they’re pretty fun to listen to. They played a pretty cool set at the VANS Warped tour- check it out here.
Bonus: PVRIS - Talking Body (Tove Lo Cover) on BBC Live Lounge.
Bombay Bicycle Club - Carry Me
It's time I let my mind desire I never meant to cause you harm Just to try to keep the options near I want you home, I want you here

Farao - Hunter 'Cause I, I, I, I Wanna have you by my side I won't let you run and hide If I have to I will haunt you Dark and gentle, to me this song is Uma Thurman in that yellow jumpsuit, walking into the dusky horizon, the blade by her side dripping blood slowly onto the dark tarred road. Bordering on psychotic and self-destructive, Farao’s lyrics are haunting, her voice hypnotic and at times, even terrifying, like a murdered childs’ favorite rhyme.
Youth Lagoon - Rotten Human
How we're supposed to know what's real? The dirt, the breath, the snow, the rusty steel Something in the neighborhood's not right They stay indoors until they break a light
