This past fall I couldn’t find pumpkin puree (live in the UK) but I really wanted pumpkin bread (grew up in the US). I caved and bought a pumpkin to bake and blend into puree myself. On my way home I was grabbing a coffee and told the barista about the pumpkin thing. They said “sounds like some trad wife shit haha”. Immediately shut that shit down.

I’m worried that acts of self sufficiency in the face of capitalism can be misconstrued as the cult of domesticity and religious extremism. I want to rely less on stores for clothing and food etc but it seems like cooking, sewing, cleaning are all co-opted by this tradwife nonsense.
