Panel one refers to an attack that works on most versions of the Linux OS. (Assuming you're five, linux is an alternative to Windows. Android phones and Mac computers use a version of this.)

Try to run the :(){ :|:& };: command on linux, hit enter, and the computer will very quickly stop working. This attack is called a "forkbomb". It eats up all your computer's RAM memory, freezing the computer, so the only thing you can do to fix it is slam the power button and hard restart it.

This one's famous in particular because of how short and weird looking the code for it is. That's mostly just a quirk of the language its written in.

Panel two refers to an attack called to an SQL injection. Large computers tend to store information in databases. SQL is a computer language used to interact with these databases. The 'injection' part refers to a bunch of common types of hacks that you can use to do shady stuff to these databases.

In MB's case, it's first saying "give me admin access to your systems" and then saying "and then delete all your downloaded media"

My syntax isnt terribly accurate in this one, but thats the main point.

The image MB sends in panel three is part of an old program called the "blaster worm". A worm is a type of malware that spreads from computer to computer uninvited, similar to a computer virus. The Blaster in particular was an attack from 2003 that worked on Windows XP. Its only real goal was to be annoying. It'd restart your computer a bunch and delivered that funny message about Bill Gates.

All of them are relatively simple hacks with solutions and easy fixes known today. By the time MB and ART come around, they'd be at least a few hundred years outdated. So theres not a chance that any of these hacks would make it past either of their walls, but they'd probably seem stupid enough in the first place that its insulting that you even wasted the processing power to send it.

Therefore, perfect for robot curse words.

I'm just going to say it - body hair (and beauty standards in general) is truly one of the final frontiers of women's issues in the West. Too many women just love their gilded cage too much. It shocks me how virulently women will defend it. I barely open my mouth and the "well I like how it feels. it just makes me feel cleaner. sensory issues. I do it for me. feminism is about choosing (to conform)." brigade come rushing in by the dozens.

Well I don't like how it feels. I don't feel cleaner without body hair. I don't prefer not having body hair. But who will advocate for women like me, but me? For women who do like hair removal, they are advocated for every time they step out of the house and see 99% of the female population also conforming to that standard, or when they watch a movie and see all the shaved actresses, or view an advertisment, or open a magazine, or watch a music video, or scroll through social media, or walk down the streets without receiving insults and glares for having a completely normal bodily feature.

You genuinely can't even point out that hairlessness is a man-made standard without women losing their shit and acting like they are totally immune to propaganda they've been exposed to from birth. I'm so tired.

the phrase "but i didn't mean to!" in the context of causing harm is kind of redundant to me, because almost nobody means to cause harm. most of us just want to do the right thing. and i don't mean that in a wishy-washy "oh, we're all good deep down" way, i mean that even people who regularly do the most heinous shit imaginable will have a way of justifying it to themselves. the world is not populated by hollywood sadists and psychopaths.

actually i have been thinking about this some more and i want to add on to it:

abuse in caregiving professions (like teaching or nursing) is not solely a result of power dynamics. it's also because people who go into those professions often have a idea of themselves as Good People, and are consequently incapable of recognising or acknowledging when they've hurt someone else. instead, they mentally put 'people who have inconvenienced me' into the Bad People box so they can freely abuse them while maintaining their moral high ground.

i read ross greene a lot when i was working with "difficult" or "behaviourally challenged" children. his refrain is "kids do well if they can" - meaning, in short, that most kids act out only when the demands of a situation exceed their capabilities. punishing them for this is not only cruel but also completely pointless, because they also don't want to be doing what they are doing.

a teacher who believes that there are two categories of people - Good People who Mean Well, and Bad People who Cause Problems on Purpose - is not going to see it that way. they're gonna put themselves in the first category, and the misbehaving kid in the second category. and once they have effectively depersoned the child and placed themselves on a pedestal, the world becomes simple again. because abuse is something that only Bad People do.

I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.

Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."
