Mages Do It With Flare

Setting Kimahri's Tail on Fire Since 2006 (Note: This is my primary blog. Circular-Time is my Doctor Who sideblog, and sepdet is my personal & miscellaneous blog.)
I posted this unforgettable 1930 house in Reno, NV quite a while ago. It didn't sell, is now in bankruptcy, and for sale by the bank at a bargain. 5bds, 5ba, 6,189sqft, $1.1m (Zillow's est.: $1,967,200) Perhaps it could be the unique decor and odd layout that turned buyers off.
Open the front door and be greeted by the whirly swirly walls.
Then enter the distorted mirror great room or ball room.
You can't even go to the huge bathroom and clear your head, b/c it's distorted in here, too, but in a different color.
Not sure, but I think that this is a living room. I don't think it's a bedroom, but you never know with this house.
I think that the whirly swirly room might be the dining room.
The kitchen is something else. Look at the cabinets.
The large stony family room features a kitchenette.
This must be the primary bedroom with the rosette on the ceiling and mirrored closets.
There is a marble shower in the ensuite.
And, the rest is mosaics.
This must've been a teen's room with the names of friends or classmates, etc. on the ceiling.
I don't know what room this is, but it's pretty nice with the alcove.
The sunroom has a divided stone floor, lots of shelving, and a map on the ceiling. It opens to the patio.
Looks like this could be a guest room or simply a room to relax in.
This is a half bath, but it has the illusion of being bigger b/c of the mirrors.
Then, this bedroom on the upper floor features a coordinated pattern.
They love their mirrors. This one is aimed directly at the toilet.
Spiral stairs coming up to, maybe a bedroom.
It's an interesting room. It's large, has a piano in the corner, and an open bathroom in the opposite corner. They couldn't close this in?
Endless large weird rooms. It's hard to tell if there's flooring or mirrors on the walls. I'm gonna guess mirrors.
Come into the laundry room, carrying a pile of laundry and you better be mindful of that little lip in the floor.
Down in the courtyard there's a pond and a little boardwalk.
It looks like there was little garden in the patio.
Two buildings are connected together on the 0.25 acre lot. I think it looks kind of like you're in a French villa, until you get inside.
Oh my gods. They just need to replace the “words on the ceiling” room with a “floor is lava” level and maybe add a dark purple/blue crystal level to have the complete set.
Found a list I wrote down at dawn this morning after waking up from an FFX-themed dream. It started out that my parents had booted up their old PS2 with the disc in it, but instead of showing the Sad Is Sad opening scene, it was showing the Yunalesca battle. EXCEPT.
It had glitched so the Tidus texture was wrapped around the starter snake and snake tentacles. At first, I wouldn't let my parents shut it off because I thought it was funny. But then, my dream editor decided to start playing along and using Tidus' battle quotes.
Second form was not Tidus, but Jecht. Not anything like Yunalesca OR Jecht, however; it was a huge red mech.
And now we had control of the party, and I kept swapping characters to hear Jecht's battle taunts.
Whence the list, and this post. Although the quotes sounded cooler in the dream.
Penalty shot. (Dribbles Wakka and punts him offscreen. Wakka limps back, 1 HP).
Al Bhed Glitch. (picks up Rikku with robot claw, shakes her this way and that way so random items, gil, and HP rain down, drops her.)
Nice try, old man (absolutely wrecks Auron with various pummeling and physical attacks. There were other quotes, but I have forgotten.)
Nope. (Simply touches Kimahri and he drops like a brick on snow.)
Not you, too, Yuna. (Kinda pushes her out of the way like a kitten. Only person he doesn't TKO or drop to 1HP.)
Your sacrifice is duly noted. (Lulu staggers and falls gracefully).
Seymour, Isaaru, and Dona also put in appearances, individually or as a set, but Jecht didn't think much of them, TKO-ing each with a dismissive flick.
(to Isaaru): Pathetic.
(to Dona): Oh please.
(to Seymour): How's this for a dowry?
if they attacked together, there was a scathingly dismissive line something like, "rats would be embarassed to be defeated by the likes of you."
Nobody made any headway, as one of my parents, growing impatient, turned off the game and ended the scene.
I did this a while ago but I never posted it because the arms and the hands are so off and bad so I got too self conscious but I'm just gonna post it anyway cuz she's cute
In the last game I played I was a haunted house who had to kill or drive insane all the people who came to investigate me before they found my demon heart and I don't think there's really a way to prosecute that
Oh, what game was that? because I can think of two off the top of my head that sound kinda LIKE that but not exactly and it sounds like my kinda jam (which you may have guessed by the fact that two such games immediately came to mind)
I got distracted from ff7 by the lure of Triple Triad. Also, FF8 was my first brush with Final Fantasy, and I still have a soft spot for it. i first played it when I was in grad school, and felt a bit like an invisible TA trying to shepherd a Legion of Angsty Teenagers.
Ironically the opening FMV looks lower res than gameplay graphics, now; I don’t think they remade the models to re-render it. (It looks fine on a phone; it was just my iPad Pro giving away the fuzzies).
Good ol’ 1999 slightly plastic models with almost no textures/lighting/atmosphere.
Back to the nice remaster in-game graphics…Xu has a face!
… and I just noticed Seifer’s napping. Lol.
Slightly better than original FFX quality…
I think they redrew/remade all the character and monster models from scratch, whereas they just upscaled the backgrounds. Here’s OG from a walkthrough to compare.
The iOS version is saved in iCloud so it’s easy to switch to iPhone, which lets you move the touch controls off the screen…
I’m now much more keenly aware of the child soldiers aspect of the story than I was on the first playthrough.*
Those guys always gave me the creeps. At least this angle confirms there’s a human head under the yellow hat.
Not bad, Sulky.
Ok, that’s bad.
“Excuse me, Ma’am. There appears to be a boss battle over your shoulder.”
*Cid seemed so sympathetic when I played this back in the day — maybe that was the reason for the Robin Williams face — but in retrospect, I think he’s the true villain of the story, beyond the fantasy-mythic Ultimecia who isn’t a full-fledged character.
His creation of a mercenary force of child soldiers recruited from war orphans to kill his wife is pretty twisted.
If the game didn’t need a Final Boss, I’d drop Ult and have Edea as a more ambiguously dangerous person who went rogue and started using her powers to challenge the world’s power structures… becoming a fascist even as she tries to overthrow them.
I am whatever the opposite of a speed runner is. I am a game meanderer. I have to look at literally everything. I am overly cautious in every way. I forget to pause and wander away from the game. I take a minimum 7 hours to get through any given level. If you give me a timer I will cry.
I recently watched a playthrough of FFV and instantly fell in love with both Lenna and Faris, so naturally I had to draw them again. I like basically all designs for them, but the in-game portrait art and Amano’s concept arts are probably my favourites, so I based this one mostly on them.
Drawn with Pentel brush pen, inks and watercolours.
Tldw; there is majority support in the European Parliament for a bill that would cover most of SKG's issues, and if passed this would bypass the decision of the Commission. There are also ongoing lawsuits in France and other places that would likely lead to some legislation. There is also a bill being worked on in California that wouldn't stop current games from being killed, but would stop future games from being killed
