The cold months are coming to a close, for me. And normally I would lament, flinging hollow grievances into the night and hoping a frosted breeze will hear them. This year, though. This year, I can't help but reach into my chest, hands searching for the purchase of my rib cage and cracking it open to let the warmth in.

I used to tell people that there was a monster growing inside of my skin. That a sickness made it's nest there. I was right - but I was unheard. And, I suppose, that is the curse of any young monster.
