CD PROJEKT RED today announced that a third expansion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, one of the most critically acclaimed and best-selling role-playing games of all time, is coming next year.

CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory

Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3. More details on Songs of the Past will be released in late summer 2026.

The Witcher 3 has sold more than 60 million copies since its release in 2015 and is the winner of more than 250 Game of the Year awards and 1,000 industry awards. It lets players explore a dark fantasy open world as witcher Geralt of Rivia as he takes on the most important contract of his life: saving his daughter Ciri.

was tagged by @leviiackrman & @d-esmond for this one, ty beloveds!!! did my girl síle and since she's technically old old and arguably The Blueprint for later characters of mine herself i got to revisit some of my earliest influences which are. surprising to exactly no one i will never change i will never improve etc. since present síle is based on her this is technically most true of síle cousland, her og form. much the same except now she did all that herself and it made her marginally less unbearable. if you want to avoid being driven mad in your vengeful desire to burn down the world and destroy fake fantasy catholicsim and preferably also all gods ever consider killing your own family before anyone else can and then bailing on the family pact and living (alas i revived her for bg before i read tlt so i could not honestly put harrowhark here). alright buckle up as i decreasingly elaborate it's 2am

☙ anne boleyn. first and greatest influence, perhaps least persistently applicable so i'm gonna elaborate more than with the others (síle was originally a mistress of king cailan’s who was trained in the orlesian court to great controversy. some might even have called her more orlesian than fereldan. etc.). honorable mention to mary carey also for her deeply unjust legacy moniker of Great and Infamous Whore. certain personality and physical attributes remain intact, however. influenced by the actual historical woman and the propaganda surrounding her but also perhaps most directly inspired by her fictionalized counterpart in the tudors (not pictured both because too restrictive to be accurate and also to avoid confusion with messalina)

☙ phèdre nó delaunay. god-marked and not happy about it, courtesan-spy-rogue-diplomat, love of my life, etc. also visible influence on lyra. NOT evil sorry you got projected on those two baby

☙ lucrezia borgia. much less actually lucrezia borgia and more the enduring perception of her, both earned and unearned in síle's case (hence probably the most notorious portrait attributed as her vs. the only one we're actually fairly certain is). heavy on the poisoner part.

☙ milady de winter. og femme fatale in stella's consciousness. fucked her way into this mess and will fuck her way out of it.

☙ marguerite de valois. similarly caricaturized and misrepresented in popular culture for her scandalous affairs and the massacre the week of her wedding. fashion icon and turncoat.

☙ ciri & yennefer. these are primarily honorable mentions as aesthetic influences; her post-massacre facial scar and the black soot around her eyes were inspired by ciri, and her wardrobe when she's incognito or out of her house colors was heavily influenced by yennefer (back in d:ao she wore ports of tw3 yen's armor, which she still does to this day, including in above screenshot even though you can't see it). big shoutout to the show which DID give me nessa's fc but did NOT give her literally any usable wardrobe shots for either of them go costume budget give us shein.
