Mercymorn is the single most fanfiction adaptable character in the existence and we're missing out by not realising it. There is no fucking situation you can't put canon compliant Mercymorn into and not be able to make it fit - imagine what non canon compliant Mercy might be able to do.

Beside the infinite ageplay potential via canon typical "i cast: you're 5 years old" behavior, this is the single most gore-compliant character I have ever seen in media. This bitch disintegrated god, putting her in an alternative universe is like releasing an invasive species on a secluded island. She's so done with people and knows the human body by memory; every absurd, physically impossible kink and fetish can be explained and executed via Mercymorn being there. She literally went to an orgy she didn't want to go to, to steal sperm, she gives no fucks about anything and therefore is the perfect "character randomly added to polycule" candidate.

We need to be more insane about this because this is the Fanfiction Situation Character. I'm not saying everybody needs to write over the top Mercymorn fanfiction; I just think adding her would make the situation better or worse, depending on what you want.

If you're still in doubt, consider what her reaction would be if you did it, and if it's not "acid jail" you're still less outlandish than John Gaius and she would probably choose your fanfic over spending 5 more minutes with him.

Perhaps the funniest thing about reading Gideon the Ninth for the first time was, for me, you start it up and you're like: Wow these guys are in a weird fucking bone cult. They're on like fantasy Pluto and they're obsessed with bones.

And then you get used to them. You go yeah they're obsessed with bones but it's like literally normal. Every culture can have things that seem strange, even unsettling to outsiders, but is actually totally benign, and here's it's bones. It's literally superficial. People die and they reuse their skeletons and it's just recycling.

And then you get to Canaan House and you realise. No one else in this world is like this. It's literally just them.

And to the other Houses you're like, guys, chill. They're literally just wearing skull make-up, stop being rude.

And then casually like 3/4s through the book Gideon casually mentions that everyone in the Ninth house bathes using soap made from human flesh and you go. Ah.
