Charles Dickens, Great Expectations - Chapter XXXII
knowing how it tends to go with male authors and their wives it was probably marge who wrote the odyssey
AAAAA PHEW i just finished binding a bunch of new zines that compile my PNW fantasy sketch pages :ā) just in time for when I get to table at the Portland Zine Symposium tomorrow!!!!! if anyoneās in the area come say hi!!!
Iāve loved walking through this event for several years now, Iām so happy that i get the chance to table this time š„¹š„¹š„¹
Thanks for the interest folks ;_; I went ahead and added it to my ko-fi shop for those who want one but can't make it to Portland!
(Since I'm tabling this weekend and next, I might be a little slow sending them out, but i'll do my best to do it asap, definitely within 2 weeks! Thank you ;v; )
So this zine managed to sell out twice, and your guys' support on it kinda actually changed my life. ( <- I've been anxious to say it that bluntly,.. but it's true.) Thank you, seriously ;_;
For this reprint, I made a new cover (since the old one was just a repeat of one of the inner illustrations), and also added one more ecoregion: The High Desert :D So now it has:
The Coast Range
The Valley
The Cascades
The High Desert
I'm definitely going to expand on this idea into a bigger project as soon as I have a bit more time-- like an actual book :") But this will be the final version of the zine! Thanks so much again yall.
A non-writer asked me "but where do you get your ideas" and i genuinely did not know how to explain that it's not a place. it's not a website. it's not a folder. it's that i was on the bus and a woman was holding a paper bag very carefully and something about the way she held it made me need to know what was inside and then i needed to know why she was sad about it and then there was a whole person and then there was a whole story and the bus had already stopped and i missed my stop. that's where.
No, you see, I wish to be an author. Not in marketing. Or an influencer. I wish to tell my stories, be told I did a fantastic job, and then go back to my hovel to scribble some more. I am delicate of constitution and awkward in crowds.
How my writing process looks to anyone who doesn't write
Can't believe some people don't have a projectā¢
Me when I write for 30 minutes: 1k words
Me when I write for 2 hours: 500 words
Me when I write for 4 hours: -300 words
Once Oscar Wilde, coming down to lunch, was asked how he had spent his morning. "I was hard at work," he said. "Oh?" he was asked. "Did you accomplish much?" "Yes indeed," said Wilde. "I inserted a comma." At dinner, he was asked how he had spent his afternoon. "More work," he said. "Inserted another comma?" was the rather sardonic question. "No, said Wilde, unperturbed. "I removed the one I had inserted in the morning."
So my WIP manuscript went from 28 chapters to 54 chapters to 48 chapters and this just proves that at some point, I'm just going to have to yeet it into the void and hopw for the best because otherwise I will never. stop. fussing.
and I STILL DON'T HAVE A FUCKING TITLE
writing isnāt hard. i just have to extract 80,000 words from my brain using sheer psychic force

I received feedback on my manuscript yesterday from one of my writer friends (who absolutely does not consider himself to be a writer and is categorically WRONG about that impressionāheās literally writing a book and writes a bunch of other things too but I digress) and I always forget the insane motivational power of feedback. Of sharing and discussing WIPs with people.
My critique group fell apart a few years ago and I had been STRUGGLING to find new folks to fill the gap and Iām so fucking happy to have him in my lifeāfor a lot of reasons.
Iām going to be riding this high for daaayyyyssss
