dealing with a lot in my head at the moment. kind of in shock? honestly? that my health is holding like it is. my disease had progressed to the point where I had about a 50% chance of surviving more than four years. focusing mainly on my BMI, my lung function, my dyspnea, and my exercise tolerance - my disease presentation is minimal. it’s not non-existent; my function is still lower than normal for my age, my dyspnea is still an issue some days, and my exercise tolerance from a pulmonary perspective sucks for someone as young as I am. there are also other considerations to be made, such as the root of my COPD (cystic fibrosis), and how they play into what this does and doesn’t mean. but right now, i’m not dying as fast as i was. not my a long shot. and after spending so much time having to prepare myself for things to continue to get worse until i died somewhere around ages 25-27, it’s hard to actually process that my prognosis has shifted. i’m not going to be as miserable as i was for the next stretch of my life. there’s a very good chance that i’m going to live well beyond my 20s. but there’s also that looming reality that this is still what’s going to take me down. i got a taste of what that may feel like and it was devastating. so yeah. i’m in a space for sure.

PFTs & pulm appointment are done, fiancé is at a job interview/trial/orientation type deal, and I sent out an important email that’s been making me nervous. Big day! But my lung function is still holding and I feel like I can do anything right now.

#it’s 93%!!!!#at my last appointment it was like 116% which is fucking insane #but i was expecting a bit of a shift today given the flare i had last month + allergies today #not to mention i’ve been a little more out of breath than usual because of the heat & my dysautonomia #but prior to that 116% the highest we could get my function was 42%#but thats doing PFTs in the middle of like a 10 month battle with pneumonia #anyways it’s a win #health and dying tag
