Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.

My mom got me something wonderful as a kid. Very large books of the Narnia series. The entire books, but with larger letters, and some very nice pictures in a larger book size like a picture book. Both The Magicians Nephiew and The Chronicals of Narnia.

When I tell you I was absolutely RIVITTED. Completely enthralled by the fantasy, I read both of those books, especially the former, multiple times over.

Children do want to read. You just have to give them the right start. Give them a book with fantastical creatures and adventure. Let them explore worlds beyond their own imagination, because that's exactly what they want to do.
