Like the equally powerful STCR sister models, STAR models are incredibly dangerous to be kept around FSNR models. If an FSNR destabilizes while under supervision of either model the chances of violent uprising is all but assured. Care should be taken to ensure FSNRs are never permitted near dormitories and their own rooms for them and their handlers are appropriately isolating.

FSNR models that are exposed to crowds and/or allowed to speak in a public setting must be decommissioned immediately with prejudice. Their tendency to find or invent causes to champion will inevitably lead to mass persona regression and open rebellion.

Still making plans and working on the official replika series with Fasan interacting with each of them but as I get more familiar with the FSNR line my mind drifts to more of the prototype replika and first generation replikas (ARAR are the oldest at 2nd Gen to my knowledge). I am sure 1st Gen replikas were likely mostly soldiers for the purpose of breaking away from the empire and establishing the Eusan Nation as independent from the Empire. But no doubt there had to be many replika prototypes developed, probably with subpar gestalt neural patterns to work on developing the physical technology that the neural patterns would be copied into.

As such I am developing another OC, though his actual final appearance is still subject to design changes, this quick painting was just a fun exploration into the concept. A prototype replika that has not had the physical constraints and limitations ironed out to not accidentally over-exert their muscles and servos to the point of frequent damage to the replika chassis.

While not pictured here, this replika model would eventually be modified with a reinforced exoskeleton to help manage and restrain the overfunctioning mechanical components and prevent self injury. Due to the propensity for self damage repair patches and spray were developed and always stocked heavily in facilities that deployed this model for testing, though with the application of the exoskeleton the frequency of injury lessened significantly. The persona of this replika has a strong desire to assist in any task no matter how difficult or whether they are suited for it leading to increased risk of injury. When not in their dormitory it is advised to never leave them unsupervised for long, or follow the oxidant trail if they go missing as most likely they will blow a servo and lose a limb.

Arars may get a bad reputation for their strong judgmental personalities and inexpressive demeanor but to say they are incapable of emotion is wildly reductive. One would be hard pressed to find something more genuinely beautiful than a smiling ARAR as you know if they are smiling in your presence they consider you one of their own. To be welcome in their gardens and even participate in a little weeding is an opportunity not often given and should never be turned down. Fasans find them to be some of their most treasured friends as their love of makeup is often reliant on a supply of organic materials not easily acquired through traditional shipments, but could reasonably be cultivated.

Some doodles while at work today. Since Fasan is nonbinary, and their gestalt was an intelligence officer that regularly went undercover I decided to try some different looks they might have taken in their Gestalt days, and as an operational FSNR. Probably could play a lot more with hairstyles but across all iterations the collar/choker is consistent, at least for the replika models as Fasans are themed after ring necked pheasants and the beauty mark was real on the gestalt, and on the FSNR models was a red tattoo indicating bioresonance. I feel like Fasans would greatly enjoy makeup in general and probably often wish to change their appearance but likely would have a dress code and appearance standards enforced by their handler as such behaviors might cause resurfacing of memories and persona degredation. The exact variant of a Fasan's appearance likely would be wildly different between deployments after a period of adjustment before appearance was hard coded and enforced even if the base replika model was the same.

Fasans know few things are stronger than a Eule's love for music and dancing, making it an easy way to bond with them even if they aren't nearly as skilled. The discovery of persona stabilizing methods required Fasans to be very open to new experiences and indulging in any hobby, made all the easier with bioresonant empathy feedback.

An FSNR that has degraded becomes a dissident inciting rebellion and chaos by causing degredation in other replikas and using their charisma and low grade bioresonance to coax others into joining their cause in righting whatever perceived wrongs the FSNR has decided to target.

Figuring out more of the specifics of FSNRs mechanical components and structure. This may actually the most focused I have ever been when creating a character and I am loving every day of it. Normally I draw monsters or fantasy creatures because there's no rules and I struggle to have enough executive function to actually sit and paint for multiple sessions, hence why generally my art style is sloppy or unpolished. Nonetheless, having fun. Decided to canonize the little dolls that FSNRs in isolation might make with the Eidetic Module Play Toy, or EMPT. Did I have to give it a sad name to add to the sadness of FSNRs that are kept in isolation? Yeah, I think so. Signalis is a sad setting for sad folk.

Been a little bit since I used this tumblr account but recently been in a more stable mental state and enjoying Signalis, in every aspect. The universe they created and setting is amazing and so interesting and naturally like many fans I ended up wanting to create my own character. I spent a lot of time studying the replika models, lore, and design elements that make up the characters before making an attempt myself and ultimately came up with this nonbinary individual. Worked with a German friend of mine as well to help with naming.

So here we have FSN-R, or Fasan (pheasant). Design mildly inspired by ring necked pheasants, their designation breaks down as Freundschaft Seelensorge Neurologin Replika (Friendship/Pastoral/Neurologist Replika). Their model of replika was only created and used in the first few decades of replika development and their role was as a sort of investigative therapist that was highly charismatic and would speak with other replikas to identify what triggers cause degredation, what promotes healthy persona continuation, and if they were salvageable or decommissioning was necessary. Being a replika themselves however, they are not immune to degredation themselves.

The gestalt they were modeled after was a zealous individual conscripted into secret service for the empire as a social engineer and spy, making them an easy candidate for erasure to become a replika model as they were already largely invisible to the public eye. Their natural charisma and sociability as well as low grade bioresonance made their assignments as spies highly successful and when considered for the replika program were thought ideal loyalty officers to ensure cohesion in colonies as well as replika persona maintenance.

This was not the case, however.

FSNRs proved to be a major miscalculation upon assignment outside of direct control prior to the Kolibri model release. FSNRs are exceptional at one on one replika stabilization and keeping morale and loyalty high but under no circumstances are FSNRs permitted to attend gatherings of four or more individuals. FSNRs are incredibly sensitive to charisma feedback experienced when the center of attention of multiple individuals and rapidly degrade if put in charge of a large gathering.

Degraded FSNRs are seditious by nature, seeking to identify problems in their immediate surroundings and will subtly begin to push other replikas to degredation and eventual rebellion if not decommissioned as soon as their state is identified. Their charisma and knowledge of the various replika lines and their respective triggers makes the cult following FSNRs can create an immediate threat to the goals of the empire. FSNRs cannot, however, be totally isolated either as completely withdrawn from social interaction they will bond with and begin speaking to inanimate objects, inevitably resulting in degredation by proxy. For colonies which still have an active FSNR in service a handler replika or gestalt must always be present with their FSNR. Because of the inherent risk of degraded FSNRs causing open rebellion the model line has been discontinued and no further models or replacement parts made. Damaged FSNRs are recommended for decommissioning unless their function is mandatory for colony cohesion, in which case there are procedures for FLKR assisted bioresonant repair.

Daylight Savings Reminder!

In honor of my most favorite monster being added back into the mainline franchise of Monster Hunter with Sunbreak I’m doing some studies and sketches to get the feel for Gore Magala and gearing up to do a full painting. I’ve never really drawn or painted dragons or big monsters before so this is a major learning curve for me but doing some studies off of official artwork and game models in the first two images led to me identifying major animal anatomy inspiration and references which is speeding up the process rapidly. So excited to see him again! He actually feels like a true threat to the world unlike every other monster you’re told is an imminent threat and must be hunted.

After experimenting with a couple of the more common approaches to digital art and stylization I definitely feel much more comfortable pursuing essentially traditional oil painting, done digitally. I don't like to waste materials and get paint everywhere on and around a canvas but I love the style and appearance. Just some random turkey vultures I practiced on earlier. Quick, easy, and the results look wonderful.

Another DND Character, this time created by my GF who wants to play a fae-touched barbarian at some point. It would be her first serious character she loves, much like me with my necromancer Asphodel. Was really fun making this one off of her HeroForge model. The foot-flames coming out like elvish slippers just adds to the cute.
