People are constantly talking about how important it is to them that animals are killed humanely, but no one ever wants to say what they mean by that word. By dictionary definition, it is acting in a manner that causes the least harm to people or animals or showing compassion and benevolence. Is anyone seriously trying to contest that shooting an animal in the skull with a captive bolt pistol is acting in a way which causes the least harm? Is stringing an animal upside down and slitting their throat showing compassion or benevolence? These are both standard slaughter procedures, but under what definition could they possibly be considered humane?
Considering the fact that most people do not need to consume or wear animals to be healthy, any harm caused to animals in order to provide us with food, clothing or cosmetics is unnecessary. Surely it is obvious that causing the least harm would be to not kill them at all People discuss slaughter as if it is some unfortunate necessity, like it is the same as euthanasia where we have to choose the most merciful option in a case where the only possibilities are suffering or death. But what we’re talking about here are healthy, young animals who do not have to die.
We as individuals and as a collective have the power to choose to never knowingly contribute towards animal suffering whenever we have the option to do so. Under any reasonable definition of the word, this is the only option which can ever truly be considered humane.
It is socially irresponsible to consume animal products when you have the ability not to, given the grave and devastating effects of animal operations on communities of color, low income communities, migrant workers, and not to mention the animals themselves

Sweet mother of fuck, this one again? Is there some database of ignorance that you pull this shit from? Okay, here goes, for the literal hundredth time. You are arguing for a false equivalency. You are not comparable to a lion… Lions hunt their prey with their own claws, you buy yours pre-packed from a supermarket. What’s more, lions do not have a choice what they eat, you do. Lions are obligate carnivores, they would die if they did not eat other animals. We know for a fact humans can be perfectly healthy without ever eating animals, therefore for us, eating animals is a choice.
You cannot be held responsible for behaviour that you did not consciously choose, since lions are not making a conscious choice their behaviour in this instance is not morally relevant. Lions don’t have the option to not eat animals, so their doing so cannot be judged. This principle really is ethics 101 and it is stunning how many people try to make ethical arguments without understanding it. This is blatantly fallacious reasoning; you want to simultaneously say that it’s okay to eat animals because they morally don’t matter and that animals should be held to the same moral standard as humans. You can’t have this one both ways, Mufasa.
