I may be misremembering, but that was NOT ethanol. Ethanol is the one that our bodies can process (still poison, just not insta kill you poison) What he drank was rubbing alcohol, likely isopropanol. Isopropanol is just poison. I'm sure it's at least part of the reason he was vomiting up blood.
