oh you’re neurodivergent? what non-human being did you pretend to be / believe yourself to be in order to cope with the disconnect you felt from your peers during your early childhood?
hello !!! brandon bernard is a black man scheduled to be executed on 12/10 for a crime he was convicted of when he was eighteen, and his own jurors and warden believe he should not be executed. if you go to this website (coded by this wonderful girl!) it will generate a unique email template that you can send to your senators, representatives, and the department of justice. it takes less than five minutes to do so please do your part to help!
the autistic view of the world has insight and beauty in it, and we’re taught that there’s something wrong with it.
What’s fascinating is that the parents who didn’t know it was the work of an autistic kid praised it as well.
Technically, we don't know that it's an autistic kid's work, either. 5e infographic doesn't say Cadence is autistic.
"appropriate play skills" is such a horrid phrase, goddamn
[image ID: infographic where the right side is text and the left side is a picture of lots of small toys laid out in swirling patterns on a sage green carpet. In the bottom of the image is a green seal that says "I am Cadence" with a yellow heart. Headline: What Pathologizing Autism Looks Like Four groups were presented this image of 10 year old Cadence's creation. Over 380 comments were recieved from the groups. This is a summary of those responses. Group 1 (Mums Group of Typically Developing Children) "Beautiful". "Gorgeous colours". "A piece of art". "Love it, it reminds me of a 3D zen tangle". "What a great display of patience". Group 2 (Neurotypical Led Support Group for Parents of Autistic Children) "Its sad they don't know how to play". "My kid does this too, it's so frustrating". "Yep, my kid is always making a mess too". Group 3 (Autistic Led Support group for parents of Autistic children) "Wow, that's a kid with determination". "Epic". "I just love the creativity". "So beautiful and artistic". Group 4 (Professionals Led Autism Education Group) "ABA and RDI can help with developing more appropriate play skills". "I would use the interest in the toys to direct mutual attention and unwanted behaviour". /end ID]
i like little kids who are shy but when they finally start speaking they are SHOUTING. there’s so much excitement there maybe too m uch
the neurodivergent people in the notes are valid, all of you
So I’ll cut to the chase on this since a lot of people are dying, drowning, and screaming for help in Cagayan and Isabela, Philippines. A lot of them have also been stranded and are standing on their rooftops as we speak.
I’m here to post a collection of donation drives that I’ve gathered online. If we can’t help them physically, we can at least make sure they have monetary assistance, food and clothing once they’re evacuated.
This is how Cagayan looks, from recent photos (not mine)
TW: screams and shouts for help
HOW TO HELP
DONATION DRIVES
Please feel free to add on this post for any other ways to help.
For context:
The Philippines has been hit by three consecutive typhoons this month alone: Quinta, Rolly (Goni internationally) and Ulysses. It’s been hitting nearly the same areas, which has made them even more vulnerable now that they’re still recovering from the previous typhoons. Our mountain ranges couldn’t shield us from this due to heavy quarrying and deforestation.
That said, these aren’t the only places in need of assistance. But these are the places in urgent need of help. And we’re trying to do as best as we can with what little we have.
I’ll update this post from time to time for full transparency.

Here’s an FB post of different donation drives from youth orgs, NGOs and other volunteer groups.
Here’s a Twitter thread of donation drives affected by Typhoon Ulysses. Another thread of donation drives.
You can donate hygiene kits, food, & shelter to people affected by the typhoon via LazadaForGood.
Thank you so much.
Concept: an apocalyptic or post apocalyptic tv show centred on a group of disabled protagonists
Must include:
-enough details about how they survive that no one can call it “unrealistic”
-mental and physical disabilities
-a character who isn’t necessarily contributing to the survival of the group, but is not abandoned or looked down upon
-at least one character whose disability is actually less of a problem for them now that the world is ending/ended (example: autistic character who used to be constantly overstimulated but no longer is)
Optional features:
-abled person says “the only disability in life is a bad attitude” and gets told where to stuff it
-creatively weaponized mobility aids/assistive devices
-character who abled people think isn’t worth helping because of their disability, but actually has at least one skill essential to the survival of the group
-every time an abled person says something ignorant, all present disabled people look into the camera like they’re on the office
- character who only survived the initial apocalyptic event because they had an assistive device which just so happened in that one circumstance to give them an advantage over everyone else
-the abled camp wearing rags and eating meat on sticks cooked over a crude fire. pans over to our heroes and they have perfect clothes, a variety of food and also music.
“what? how did you do that?” “well, jane’s special interest is the medieval production of cloth and, like 8 of us can sew. Turns out those of us who can’t go out much develop a LOT of hobbies.”
A character who scares everyone when a zombie bites them but literally every one of their limbs are amputated.
“They…. they bit Gina.”
*Gina pulls of prosthetic arm* “It’s ok guys! They just got my decoy.”
(vibrates at the speed of sound)
I love this a normal amount
Defying Doomsday is an anthology of apocalypse fiction featuring disabled and chronically ill protagonists, proving it’s not always the “fittest” who survive – it’s the most tenacious, stubborn, enduring and innovative characters who have the best chance of adapting when everything is lost. In stories of fear, hope and survival, this anthology gives new perspectives on the end of the world, from authors Corinne Duyvis, Janet Edwards, Seanan McGuire, Tansy Rayner Roberts, Stephanie Gunn, Elinor Caiman Sands, Rivqa Rafael, Bogi Takács, John Chu, Maree Kimberley, Octavia Cade, Lauren E Mitchell, Thoraiya Dyer, Samantha Rich, and K L Evangelista.
*reblogs this version again in case you haven’t seen it*
Your blog was hacked: what to do?
If you see weird pics of ladies with dubious links posted on your blog out of the blue, here’s a step by step way of stopping this and preventing it from happening again that I think might work.
Important : this only works if you can still access your blog!
Changing your password is important, but it won’t do you any good if your hacker still has an opened session on your blog and can still access it. So the first thing you wanna do is close your hacker’s session.
For that you need to go in your blog’s settings:
On the new page opened, scroll all the way down. There, you can see something called “Active Sessions“. The first and oldest one (”current session” in green) should be yours, the new one should be the hacker’s session. To close your hacker’s session, click the gray X next to it.
Now that their session is closed, they can’t access your blog anymore unless they enter the password again.
So don’t lose time, go all the way back up and change your password immediately. Make also sure your hacker didn’t change your email address.
Now you should be safe from your hacker. But it won’t prevent you from getting hacked again.
If you really want to be safe from hackers, you should turn on the “Two-factor authentification” option (on the same page).
It requires you to enter your phone number, which is a bummer. But if it’s turned on, everytime you wanna log on (so not if your session is already opened, but only if you log off and try to log on again), it will send a code on your phone that you’ll have to enter (in addition to having a password).
That way if someone tries to hack you again, even if they get your password right, they won’t be able to enter your blog without having that code.
There it is. I hope it will help some of you, since I see more and more people noticing blogs being hacked
with light about the massive wave of bot-hacking i’m seeing, please do this and keep your blog and all of your personal information secure!
Relevant again in wake of the new round of “Ray-Ban sale” hacks.

American Airlines has established a new policy which prevents many disabled people from traveling with power wheelchairs on regional jets.
You should read this article, but in case you don’t read the article, the reason they suddenly won’t transport power wheelchairs is because THEY WERE BREAKING TOO MANY OF THEM. They CONSTANTLY break wheelchairs and their response is to BAN DISABLED PEOPLE FROM TRAVELING RATHER THAN TEACH THEIR EMPLOYEES HOW TO SAFELY HANDLE WHEELCHAIRS
Abled people can and should reblog this, but don’t say any ableist bullshit in the notes/reblogs
ADHD be like: I need to do do this task before I go to bed. therefore I’ll stay up all night on my phone because I have no motivation to do the thing but I can’t go to bed unless I do it.

Useful for explaining sensory-related eating challenges…
[ID: Image from feedinglittles.com with the writing “Why does my child struggle with fruits and veggies?” First rows of hands with orange painted fingernails hold four different blueberries, each one labeled juicy, squishy, sweet, sour. Second row of hands hold four identical crackers, labeled “The same every time”/]
Exactly! Also, children are a lot more sensitive to bitterness and many veggies are bitter.
As someone with sensory issues regarding food myself, anything that is going to have a consistent flavor and texture is much more likely to be something I’ll eat. Though it can still depend on if that texture and flavor is appealing.
Sometimes flavor doesn’t even matter, if the texture is bad I will be unable to eat it, because there are several things i like the taste of but can’t eat because the texture squicks me out, pineapple for example.
This is super interesting and not something I’ve thought of before. What would be a good way to help children who do have sensory issues still get their fruits and veggies?
