Considering that RTD made such a big point of Rose Noble being invisible to Conrad because she's a trans girl, he really just had her...sit there and do literally nothing. Again.

and why get us all hyped about omega and the rani only to kill them off instantly and have omega basically be an entirely separate character anyways bc "he became the mad god" like what was the point !!! just a carbon copy of the sutekh fight right down to the "cast you back into hell" line cos it was recieved so well the first time

but we still have mrs flood as if she didnt get 2 seasons already while the new rani gets murdered.... i dont know it feels a little offensive to keep giving the white characters more attention over the people of colour. i dont care abt mrs flood anymore!!!

the reality shit

asides from the Rani just getting eaten, and thereby no longer serving any story purpose (even tho she was super hyped up) and the omega getting easily blasted back to hell (thereby also useless for the plot) the fact that Belinda, a companion who has openly stated her distrust towards the Doctor (the only one to do so I believe), went from a character who could have had such an interesting development was shoved into serving the role of motherhood. Like that WAS Conrad's wish. You are conforming to that shit.

The last series (asides from the first, what, two episodes) feels so just shit. like it lacks the classic dr who magic. like yeah I can understand that the messages they're trying to convey are important but they aren't always written well and I feel like that culminated in this last episode. It feels a bit everywhere.

Ruby became more of a main character than Bel who was basically reduced to nothing. This Doctor needed more time to develop more bc all I can really remember of their personality is that they are the healed one, the one who was meant to start over. Like yeah he's also more bubbly and upbeat but that just kinda felt like that was it.

15 and 13 tho were cute, I loved their interaction. also 15 knowing that he should have kissed Yaz and been a happy lesbian. Also Mel arriving on a scooter? Best part of the episode.

Anyway to end off. Dr Who doesn't have that spark it used to have. Ik it could just be nostalgia, but having rewatched some earlier series a few weeks back it can't compete. AND WE NEED MORE THAN EIGHT EPISODES DAMNIT. I've a lot of thoughts but I'm not gonna articulate them.

it’s really wild how rtd learned nothing from martha. made the doctor cut Belinda off when discussing segregation, had her be barely a character by the end of the story then completely overshadowed by ruby.

don’t get me started on ncutis doctor being overshadowed twice for nostalgia bait :/

God I want to like Rose Tyler so much but russell and the fandoms absolute obsession with her is so damn annoying. it just makes her GRATE on me. I don't know how to feel about this new development. granted I DID like the 14th doctor much more than the 10th doctor so if she plays it right it should be fine but like. come on.

When Gatwa Who started, it was pitched as such a fresh start, such a good jumping-on point that it wasn't series 14 of New Who, it was series 1 of a brand new third incarnation of Doctor Who

Quickly it became, in an arc sense, by far the most continuity-obsessed incarnation of modern Who. And there's a superfan tendency to laugh and celebrate this but no, it really is a bad decision to make so much of the emotional resonance of a show whose ratings are lower than ever, and at a point being pitched to casual fans as a *soft reboot*, depend on characters and story arcs from decades ago. It's an self-destructive decision. At the end of the day, did RTD have any ideas for what he wanted to do with Doctor Who, or did he just have a checklist of fanboy elements he wished he could've included the first time around
