I hate anti-vaxers now. Actively loathe them. There was a time where I had a modicum of empathy and understanding for people being distrustful of the medical establishment, even though every study has shown that vaccines are safe and effective and beneficial, I know some wounds are hard to heal. Now? If you’re seeing the people regurgitating anti-vaccine misinformation and witnessing their agendas, reading the news reports of diseases that were nearly eradicated coming back to kill children again, hearing the distress and fear from medical professionals and parents of immunocompromised children and still saying “Hmm. Fuck you.” and deciding not to vaccinate your children and yourself, there is no excuse for you. You’d like to see me dead. I’m not tiptoeing around you. You’re a horrible person and a terrible parent.
A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.
Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.
Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.
Darkmoor's time running concurrent to ours is so humorous like can you fucking imagine. Having just arrived back from the burning blade, writing horrific scientific findings on parchment 'neath the light of an oil lamp. Suddenly you recieve a notification from discord on your iphone. It is your friend Bartholomew asking if you would like to go to walmart with them.
This! When someone is literally drawing all the power out of your town you just get used to what’s more convenient. It’s “oh, the powers on today, great! Maybe I’ll get to do ___.” Otherwise it’s no big deal, life goes on.
A/N: Sorry for the delay. My brain has been pleagued my other fixations! This part is a bit shorter than the previous two where. Enjoy!
Part 1 - Part 2
---
When you entered Johnny’s room, you found him already changed for bed in blue sleep pants and a plain white t-shirt. You looked past him and the saw the Excelsior on the launchpad beyond.
“I’ve never known someone so meant for something,” you words were earnest as you stood beside him “even after everything you still love it.” Johnny loved space. You smile as you recall the first time he started rattling off space facts to you on your second date - rather it be about the rings of Saturn, the nature of black holes, or faster-than-light travel. His array of space knowledge was seemingly endless. He would ooze with joy every time he would tell you about it and you couldn’t help but smile - his joy was infectious.
“I do love space…,” he pauses as he wraps an arm around you “but I love you more,” he confesses as he pulls you in for a kiss. You can tell by the nature of it that you're going to be in trouble.
You gave him a knowing look as you pulled “Johnny…they’re literally down the hall.”
“You’re just going to have to be quiet then, darling.” He teases sweetly with a smirk as he backs you against the bed and you yelp as you fall backwards on it and he follows by trapping you between the mattress and himself.
The way he loved you was always perfect. He stifled your moans of pleasure and need with searing kisses as he attempts to keep his own in check as well. He screws his eyes shut as he reaches completion. He collapses beside you, hair sweaty and skin flushed from exertion, before pulling you close. You nearly dosed off before declaring you needed to shower and you agreed to let him join you if he behaved. He did for the most part.
You were sleeping soundly cuddled against his shoulder when the sound of crying woke you, it was faint at first but grew in intensity. You couldn’t help but creep out of bed and towards the nursery and slowly crept the door open and saw the distraught toddler standing red faced in his crib.
All those nights of you running to your sister came flooding back as you walked quietly towards him, even though you were sure one of his parents would come shortly. You quietly began to sing, a song you haven’t sang in a great many years.
”Lullaby and good night, with roses bedight,
With lilies o'er spread is baby's wee bed. Lay thee down now and rest, may thy slumber be blessed.
Lay thee down now and rest, may thy slumber be blessed.”
Franklin has seemed to have forgotten, at least for a little while, why he was upset as his sky blue eyes observed you intently. You suddenly became acutely aware of being watched as you rose from your position beside his crib.
”I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have,” you blurted out and Sue just shook her head.
”It’s fine,” she assured you with a squeeze on your arm as she went to fetch her son from his crib.
Johnny was perplexed when he suddenly felt your absence beside him and he quickly pulled on his sleepwear. It was the glow from Franklin’s nursery that drew him to it but what he saw him stopped him from entering. You were softly singing as his sister and nephew listened intently. He was so engrossed in what was observing that he barely noticed that both Reed and Ben had joined him in the doorway.
“You better not screw up,” Ben suddenly said “It won’t be just her heart you break.”
He has no intention to ever break your heart because he knew you belonged. You were already part of their family.
If you're new to the Universal Monsters, and have an aversion to older movies, you cannot cheat by watching the recent Blumhouse Invisible Man, or Wolfman.
They took "The" off those titles for a reason. The original THE Invisible Man (1933) is based on a novel by H. G. Wells. The 2020 film shares very little with it other than a man named Griffin turns himself invisible.
Wolfman (2025) has virtually nothing to do with The Wolfman. It takes the symbolism that can be found in the curse of being a werewolf and makes it far too literal. It's closer to a remake of the Jack Nicholson movie, Wolf, than it is to The Wolfman. The main character isn't even Lawrence (Larry) Talbot.
The 2010 one at least kept the basics.
When The Invisible Man from Hotel Transylvania is closer to the classic character than Blumhouse you know all they took was "guy turns invisible." Other than that basic premise it's pretty much just a Lifetime Original movie but with an invisible creepy ex.
Wolfman (2025) barely feels supernatural. It's more of a body horror perma-transformation with no mystical elements at all. No pentacle warding off the werewolf or preventing the transformation, no silver being the only thing that can kill him and he's otherwise immortal. Just a guy undergoing a gross metamorphosis and his abusive father turns out to have ben the one to infect him with this rabies... I mean werewolfism.
If you want a quick crash course of the classic monsters, you're actually better off with Asylum's Monster Mash from last April. That had more respect for the original classic monsters than what Blumhouse has been doing.
Despite having never been to Dark Universe. Darkmoor is my vibe. Classic Monsters have been by bread and butter for a very long time.
Especially, Griffin, since I first read the novel way back when. The fact that this man gets so much love is just…he deserves wall the love! Oh! Can’t forget Erik as well, for about the same amount of time!
I miss the days of the classic monster movies being on AMC for Halloween now the modern stuff has taken over :( I remember setting up The Invisible Man to record on VHS!
Needless too say, Jack Griffin has consumed me and I may have a fic & OC in progress (if only I could draw decently).
People try to make me feel bad for prioritizing my own mental health before a paycheck but the gag is I'm still poor with or without a couple missed shifts
A cat is a cat no matter the size (except some are potentially deadly). They all act the same (want selective pets, nap in the sun with bellies in the air, purr, etc.). Clearly this lioness is enjoying it and seeked it out.
