What we’ve got so far:

-This is the first time Dazai thinks “Huh, this brat can really work it”

-DAZAI AS CHUUYA’S DOG

-“A dog who’s more loyal to another person (odasaku) than he is to his master” (thanks @mirei191)

-Chuuya not forcing Dazai to do anything he doesn’t want to, probably

-Dazai leaving the Port Mafia and Chuuya acknowledging him in a more professional manner in interactions afterwards as his version of “setting him free”

The first time Dazai hears chuuya calling him “Dazai-san”, he was shocked and hurt, because “chuuya never calls him that”
