What the fuck happened in the Supernatural fandom?
Me right now:
Family don’t end with blood don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened
The Originals Ending
Sitting at my desk i’m thinking where to start talking about The Originals finale.
Because, you know, it’s not just the finale, we have to look at the entire season, a season focused on the family and their bond, on Klaus and Elijah codependency, on Hope and her mistakes in attempt to do good and on Klaus dealing with it himself.
Since the start of the season we understood pretty quickly that wasn’t a matter of villain but a matter of how these characters, these family, would have dealt with the consequence of loss and separation since we have known from some time that they do not do good when they are apart. But that was changing and the change was so welcome.
Elijah had a taste of freedom, but it wasn’t 100% himself because a great part of him was missing. I’m honest, i had great expectations, but in the end he wasn’t able to balance himself between the person he could have been and the old good Elijah who, apparently, had no meaning in living a life without his brother and Hayley. That’s sad. And not in a good way because it shows us how zero progress he had made in this departement over the years.
Speaking of Klaus, he was so determined to protect his daughter, averyone was so hellbent on not making her an orphan that “we need to save Hope” almost got redundant to the point of being exhausting. But you know, when you think that it will be all worth it in the end, you endure evereything. I never thought “oooh, I’m gonna like every single thing that will happen on this show” no, that’s never happened on any show, so you endure what you don’t like because there are some signs that make you think these characters are growing. They will be able to live apart. I mean, they have more than one thousand freaking years. Grow up.
All the dots were indicating a sacrifice regarding Elijah, not for his family (Klaus, let’s say it, it was just Klaus), not entirely at least, but i would have appreciated to see him moved by some selfish sentiment on wanting to die to be with Hayley.
Another thing, for the shipper, let’s be real… Elijah is not were Hayley is. Klaus is not where Cami is. Klaus said it already to her when she died that they would never have gone to the same place after death.
So it would have been so good to see Elijah demanding his brother to help him tu fullfill his wish. Find a way in wich he could go where Hayley was and see Klaus helping him. Beacuse when you finally can stand onn your own it’s that what you do. You let your brother free to go without you. You let your sister free to marry and became human. You let your daughter built a life for herself away from you (they caould have played one thousands scenarios). AND YOU LIVE TO SEE ALL OF IT AND RESPECT IT AND ENDURE IT.
It’s too damn convenient to set anyone free because you know, I’m gonna die so you’re free do to what you want. Okay. Great. How magnanimous of you.
The entire family was so potent. Legendary. So great. And the greatest af all was Niklaus Mikaelson, a one thousand years hybrid who was about to find his way and a companion.
Yeah, let’s talk for a moment about Caroline Forbes, the one who has always endured the most but in the end “she is and always will be okay”.
She’s still in MF when no one is noticing she’s not aging (so lucky!), she dresses herself in dark colors and live, or at least, spent most of her time in her ex dead husband house, because she can’t go away and leave her daughters. SAD.
She and Klaus weren’t just a cute potential couple, they completed each other as single persons, they were a rare pair in wich one was able to widen the vision of the other in different ways. They were one of i kind. But he is dead now and she will meet someone someday and live happily ever after. She better do it by the way, when every single person she is attached to is mortal. But you know, i don’t want to think about it beacuse it make me sick and sad and not in a poethical and primal way.
I just see a giant waste, beacuse somehow, at one point, these idea of killing both brothers was put on the table way after the mid season was written. I felt it like a sudden change of mind that occured at a point in wich it didn’t fit the finale but hey, WHO CARES, WE ARE GONNA BE BOLD. Oh, and poethic and primal.
Yeah, it didn’t touched us that way. Sorry not really sorry.
I can’t read things like “we didn’t want to be influenced by ship because it’s a family show” and then read JP saying that the shipper in herself felt she was about to disrespect Stefan Salvatore if Caroline ended with Klaus. (Because when you are about to write the end of KLAUS freaking MIKAELSON you do not think of Stefan Salvatore. And again, Caroline can endure anything but let’s not touch Stefan’s memory. You all people, bite your tongue. And by the way, IT WASN’T DISRESPECTFUL IN ANY WAY.)
An other thing that was shameful to read was that if Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies had shown enthusiasm for Legacies they may have survived the end of the show. Are you fo real? I mean, take this particular thing for yourself and say it to your close friends and no one else. Because it doesn’t make a good impressione. Really. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
I promise i’m almost done but i want to speak a moment about Jeff Lieber. He is a nice person, he was always polite in his answers and believe me, it’s not given for someone to act like that during the entire process of writing, since the last episode aired. So i don’t want to sound rude but i’m gonna say what i think. He was the last one to approach the show (honestly i don’t know if he was the only one) but we know he was the one who wrote the questionable finale with Julie. Ehh… Let me say, i’m okay when you bring on the show a fresh point of view, i’m less okay when you write the end ONLY with the person with the fresh view. Because we were here for eight years waiting to see how this family would end, and EIGHT YEARS are a long time. We endured bad things, difficult things, questionable choices… but we were there till the end, no matter what and i was expecting that someone who was there from the start too (in the writers room) could approach the finale with that in mind. I’m not saying they had to fullfill all our wishes, that would have been impossible and frankly, fullfill all our wishes it’s not their job. Their job was to consider the journey of these characters from day one, cosider their flaws and their grow and end it in a way that showed us all their progress made. While, in the end, i just saw codependency win, and nothing else.
I didn’t want to be the one being hommaged. I wanted the characters to be. And it wasn’t the case.
Drop the curtains, the show is over. What a relief, let’s think about Legacies now.
That’s how this finale came to me.
Lazy, not coherent with what I have seen previuosly and with the tragic and wrong idea that killing the main character of their show would have been a serious move. They wanted to leave everyone shook, amazed by the boldness of their decisions. Decisions they thought would put their show on a higher level. No. Your show doesn’t gain point by the death of the main character. No, no one will take you more seriously. No, nothing like that will happen when people notice that this was a badly written end with a last minute change of mind.
Of course, that’s only my humble opinion, and the opinion of some other people out there.
Peace.
Now i will go, pretending i never watched the finale and re-read Borzoi’s fanfiction.
Because when fanfictions are better than the real ending, yeah, you have to start questioning yourself and not only throw excuses or blame things on bad fandoms etc… etc…
Listen, if we look at all the major characters in the MCU, Tony clearly is the most fleshed out and best developed character. They literally took 10 years to tell the story of how he’s learning about this thing called life–which btw he thought he had all figured out–struggling with it and fighting his way through all the while having to take the blame for everything wrong in the world and still trying to save Earth like he owns people. He realized he’s not the biggest fish in the sea and doesn’t know near as much as he thought he did, and he shattered the mold. He learned to take responsibility for his actions and what it means if there’s some teenager looking up to him; what it means to really love someone, and that he needs to pull down his walls sometimes and allow this person in, even if that makes him vulnerable to judgment, ridicule, and the possibility he may scare her away. He learned to trust this person with his heart, and what it even means to have someone worth losing everything for in the first place. Tony Stark went through physical and emotional changes, and though sometimes it hurt my feelings to see him suffer, I gladly followed along because I wanted to see him succeed and win. He did a lot of growing up and actually became a better person, but that doesn’t mean he’s without flaws. He’s not a cardboard cutout. God, that boy is flawed! But listen, this is exactly why I feel like Tony is the most human character of them all. Because despite his past mistakes, his struggles and all the shit he went through, he’s still out there trying to be the best possible version of himself, making sure his heart is in the right place and to do the right thing, even though he knows he will continue to struggle, fall down and need to find the strength to get back up again, because that’s just life. And his narrative doesn’t end here. There’s still a story to tell; the one about how Tony Stark learns to face his biggest fear, which is becoming his own father. (I always figured that thought freaks him out the most, along with losing Pepper and the world ending.) He deserves to have the one thing he’s literally been going through hell for — happiness. And this is why it’s so important that he survives. Because we all deserve to survive sorrow, grief, suffering, misfortune and such, and having to live with a past that may haunt us still. So please, Marvel, for the sake of all us humans who struggle and fight, make mistakes and learn from them, who win and lose, and try to get up just one more time than we have been knocked down, let Tony Stark live. Give him that beach wedding, let him build that farm, or have him live in an ecolodge with his wife. He doesn’t need to die a hero, he already is one.

Basically I watched a bully woman with no magic, power hungry for a noble position and a rude attitude taking down a lot of grown up people. Basically Belfrey needs a good bitch slap from Jacinda, from Henry, Hook, Regina and Rumple. I still don’t believe she had the resources to cast the curse, but like Regina in season one she has no magic, she even despises it.
Is she a worthy adversary in the end? No. She’s like Cora. But with no power if not her actual wealth that in Seattle can be tricky.
I have to say that I can’t find her very dangerous. We have seen a lot of women like her in this show. At the very least we’ll have a good laugh with the current situation between Hook and Rumple.
Jensen Ackles at JIB8!
I rarely get involved when the fandom argues about something, but I’ve seen a lot of discussion on this part, and since I was actually there, I’ve got something to say. First of all, Jensen is a grown man (they are all adults!) who is more than capable of making his own decisions and say no if there’s something he doesn’t wanna do. No one - and I repeat - NO ONE was forced to drink alcohol during this con. The stage contained a table with water bottles - and the actors chose for themselves whatever they liked to drink during the day. Secondly, and most importantly, Jensen wasn’t drunk during his panel with Misha Sunday. I’d interacted with him several times during the day - at my J2 photo op session & at Jensen’s autograph session to mention a few. Both he and Jared were tired (the actors had been enjoying the evening in Rome Saturday) and were still a little jetlagged from their trip, but they were warm and kind and focused while interacting with their fans - as always! Jensen had gone through an emotional rollercoaster that day, having met a couple of ladies who worked the YANA crisis hotline, and it had hit him hard. As he said at the panel; the fans mean a shit-ton to him and the rest of the cast, and this was the first time he’d met some of the operators of the hotline in person. So at the panel, Jensen was vulnerable. In true Jensen fashion though, he probably tried to over-compensate for that by doing his best to make the panel light and make us laugh. However, Misha decided to bring up what had happened to Jensen during the day (with Jensen’s permission), and Jensen got emotional again talking about it.
This had nothing to do with alcohol. Jensen was completely on point! It saddens me that people are calling Jensen all sorts of things (saying he was drunk and forced to be it), when he chose to open up to us, and felt comfortable enough to do so. Compared to Jared, Jensen’s often more like a closed book. He doesn’t wear his feelings on his sleeve. But during the years, he’s opened himself up to his fans, and part of this (Jensen mentioned a few years back) is because he became a father. Jensen has said that the JIB con is his favorite con, and I think a part of this is because he and Jared get to be around the rest of the actors for multiple days (compared to Creation cons where they’re only there on the last day) and because the organizer really looks out for them and spoils them shitless. Some years back, there had been some issues at Creation cons with Ty Olsson who’d said/done some things under the influence of alcohol that had been inappropriate. Ty was then invited to JIB con, and the organizer made sure he didn’t drink too much, so there wouldn’t be any trouble. She looked after him and she looked after us, the fans. So, back to Jensen. IF there had ever been a single doubt whether or not the actors could control their alcohol consumption and/or do their job properly, I’m more than sure the organizer would have prevented it. However, Jensen is professional. He knows how to do his job. And he wasn’t drunk. Do not belittle his emotions by blaming it on alcohol! That’s disrespectful to a guy who embraces his fans and loves them as much as he does!
J2 are in general more touchy feely when they’re at this con - especially with each other. Jared has had several misfortunes around JIB time. Two years ago, we nearly lost him, and Jensen knows this. They’re best friends, they’re brothers - they look out for each other when they’re so far away from their families. Jared has often been the one to be open about his feelings. This time it was Jensen’s turn - and Jared was there for him. The panel was not uncomfortable in the slightest. It was a precious moment that brought tears to my eyes, and I will not sit back and allow people (especially people who weren’t even there!) to take that moment away from me or - more importantly - to take that moment away from Jensen! So can we please drop all the alcohol talk, and just love the man for being honest with us and for loving us so much in return? Thanks!
Fucking this.
So, Ouat is over...
...in the way we know it, and I can’t say I’m satisfied with this season finale.
When you have a lead character, a protagonist with a job of being a Savior/hero who is leaving the show, the book, the movies, in general the story where she is the core, we expect some sort of cathartic resolution, you know? I'm not saying that these two hours have been awful, they were written on Emma well enough on the premise of hope and believing. They were written to make her again, one last time, a hero who sacrifice herself for everyone else. That's why, just seeing her fighting with Gideon, getting a kiss from Henry and having the last meal at Granny's for me was...meh. I was hoping for something more personal. Intimate. Nothing exceptional, but I would have loved seeing her alone in the bug, thinking over the last six years, the parent she got back, being a mother, founding Hook, every adventure she had and the people she met and saved.
I would have loved a different goodbye with her character, less righteousness showing how everyone got their second chances, that’s all.
Ouat 6x19
So. Let’s cut to the chase. I’m sorry but I’m very negative right now.
For me, written like that (three episodes till the season finale) what I saw is pure crap. I always loved Rumple but I never saw him as a hero, never. I think of him in a grey area, like Loki. An excellent manipulator, emotionally vulnerable, with no qualms with death and violence, willing to sacrifice everyone for his own gain or the people he cares about, in his case, his family and the lies he feeds them. So, I accepted a while ago his nature and, as I said, I love him for this. And I like his brain, his tricks, he's very compelling. I can accept him not being always good, I don't need excuses for Rumple not being a hero. But not the writers. No. Evil for them is made. You have to be abused as a child, you have to be a loving mother to go crazy protecting your son. You have all the excuses in the world, because you're traumatized, but you’re not evil, a bad life make you like this.
I don't need another Savior when we know nothing still about their mitology. I don't need, three episode from the end, this kind of retcon. So, Rumple was born a Savior, this means that the shears make him a coward taking away his brave heart? Was Malcolm at fault in the way he raised his son? Being brave or a coward isn't a theme to much large to be discussed so easily in two dialogs, linked to fate and destiny? Anyway, now Rumple has gone down again. Beautiful words, beautiful lies, a bunch of idiots who believed him and, I'M SORRY, a whife who is an utterly embecile. I'm sorry, I swear, I love Belle but I've had enought. I know she's been through a lot, but the moment she knew the truth about him being a Savior she has lost her brain, cooing and swooning over the husband who treated her like a dog on a leash for half of the season. Fuck that shit, ok?
Pros of the episode. Zelena running over the BF. Amen.
When even Lana herself is clapping back at $q fans, you know things have gotten ridiculous over in those parts.
So, Emma is a Savior only if she fights alone, thinking about everyone else, rolling over when someone attacks her to kill her because she’s supposed to be good (and stupid). Ok, I get it.
That’s a martyr. Not a real woman who wants to live a long happy life with her family, son and husband. Color me naive, but I don’t think she’s wrong to want a chance in life. That being said, the writers has gone awfully fast in this episode: there was no time spent talking on the little trip the Charming made in the past, no real talk between Hook and David and his father’s death when the thing was done on purpose to make the man doubt himself (or to delay the marriage) and Belle still didn’t get to threaten the bitch who torture her son. It’s been plot, plot, plot. Way to go writers. Way to go.
However I loved Tiger Lily.
Ouat 6x16
Well, I admire the gall of some people in this show. Let me say first that I’m so very sorry for Gideon, he lived in hell with a psycho who claimed to be his mum and I can’t stop thinking that one meeting with Belle should do a lot of difference, you know? Better than talking with Rumple and his lovely memory potions, but it would be too easy, am I wrong? What bother me is the fact that the probable solution with the Gideon Problem is gonna be the ever green, the predictable cure-all mother’s love. Ouat is famous for this. You pick a villain, you gave him/her a traumatic childhood, then motherhood comes in and all is solved. Belle could do so much for her son, it pains me seeing her so passive, relegated in the sidelines just because she has not magic.
But let’s talk about our rather puzzling problem. Emma is tired as fuck of being threatened and I’m with her. But now, how convenient, we have learnt that Gideon is without his heart so all can be excused. And I think is fair, I mean, the dude can’t be considereted a consenting adult but that means Emma is in the wrong? That she isn’t a Savior because she has enought? I’m sorry but I will not take it. The woman has been nearly killed twice and Rumple, holier-than-thou, had the gall to remind her he just saved her life. Damn. The man is amazing. His spawn tried to kill her for the second time, she is pissed FOR HER LIFE, not just Hook, stop blaming him, and Rumple wants her gratitude because he acted decently? FOR ONCE IN THIS CENTURY? Really, I’m so amazed by him, even when he talks about black and white morals.
I don’t know. This thing pisses me off at so many levels. I can’t hate Gideon for his horrible childhood but at the same time I’m tired to see that all is wrong in Storybrooke falls on Emma, even when her life is literally at risk. I’m with Rumple and Belle when they want to protect their kid and I want to see them fight per their boy, but Emma deserve to be left in peace, it shouldn’t be her burden to redeem everyone, it shouldn’t be her failure if someone else kid has gone of the reservation. It’s a good topic of discussion but it’s tiresome too.
Challange for the intellect?
Ok, listen, I know Regina is the writers’ special snow flake. WE ALL KNOW. The script tease defining her a challange for the intellect make me puke in my mounth a little bit but can they at least not be so shameless about that? The Author has spent a lot of words complimenting her, throwing the usual pity party about her hard life in season 4.
Jeez. Where is Emma when I want a good punch in the face for the man?
Literally so tired of the rumbelle fans on my dash today. You do realise that Gideon tried to kill Emma and has now just taken Killian? She’s pretty fucking justified in saying she wants to kill him. And it isn’t all about Killian. Just fyi.
Apparently Emma is not the victim here. Because she’s alive, Gideon didn’t hurt her during their battle. So she needs to get stabbed or to bleed or to lose an eye before being labeled as a victim. She can’t be mad just because he threaten to kill her.
I’m just so sorry for Belle, you know? She’s been through a lot. Her marriage has gone to hell, she found herself pregnant after another lie, then Rumple goes crazy (a little OOC for my taste): she’s been trapped, put on a leash, she didn’t even cared about Golden Queen but then her pregrancy get speed up and she loses her son.
I’m sorry that Gideon grown up with Evil Granma From Hell and I understand Belle and her reasons for wanting to protect him. I would do the same. But I don’t think that Gideon’s victim, Emma, has an obligation to any of them, not even Belle. Because Belle like every mother should put Gideon first, it’s normal, it’s what a mom would do and if the time come, given a choice, Belle would save her son and let Emma die.
But Emma shouldn’t stand for that. She literally own Rumple and Gideon nothing. The only good reason for Emma to help them is bound to Belle, her friendship and her prayers, in case she feels charitable enought to RISK HER OWN LIFE for someone who tried to kill her without a care in the world. Gideon could still be an emissary from the BF, in my opinion it’s not so automatic to jump and rescue the guy.
Emma and Snow could at least refrain from joking about killing Belle’s son in her presence. Snow may want to remember when it was HER child trying to kill everyone and people had to bend over backwards to save her (Belle left her only family and travelled to another realm to help, and Emma repaid her by trying to kill her… Did I miss her apology?). Emma and Snow may want to also consider that Gideon is not trying to kill either anymore so self defence is kinda hard to pull. Emma may try to remember that time where SHE used Belle to blackmail Rumple into helping her and be less judgy about Gideon doing the same for much nobler reasons (also since when does Emma need to be coerced into liberating tortured kidnapped kids from a hell dimension?). They may want to at least tone down the callous attitude in front of their supposed friend, specially since they have gone above and beyond to forgive, excuse and save villains that straight up wanted to screw everyone over (but with Gideon suddenly death is the only answer and the sooner the better, even after he’s stopped trying to kill them). Even if Gideon’s intentions turn out to be misleading it’s Emma’s treatment of belle that has gone beyond the pale, with the addition of her complete indifference to what looks like piles of child abuse going on somewhere.
Emma has a right to self defence. Snow has a right to protect her child. That’s got NOTHING to do with what happened in the sneak peek. Season One Emma would be ashamed.
I completely agree with you on the rude tone, I think that with Belle at least Snow could have been a lot gentler because their situations are pretty similar. Still I can’t find fault in Emma’s behavior. Emma being the Dark One at the time made her do horrible things to save Hook and made up for her mistake in Camelot (If it was a mistake? To much to talk about on this) when she treated Belle poorly. But can we really use the Black Swan as an excuse to force her to save somebody? She mistreated Belle once so now she has to save her murderous son? Myself I don’t quite like the way people in this show forgot and forgive sins, I rather much watch Hook and Rumple spit at each other for an entire episode, it’s more realistic, that’s why even understanding Belle and being on her side, I can’t find Emma egoistic or undeserving of the Savior’s title.
Yes, Emma is a Savior, it’s her job to help people and to pretend to like redeeming said bad people. My question is: if Belle is allowed to ask for help saving someone who wants to murder Emma ( we don’t really know if Gideon changed is mind at all) why is Emma not allowed to be pissed at the dude who wanted to gank her? She’s human. She wants to live, to find her man, to stay with her family and son. She’s friend with Belle, but jeez, of course she wants to trottle her spawn.
I broke your curse...
the one that you gave to Regina that started this whole mess.
I see what you did there writers. It’s a really subtle way to let Regina off the hook for the dark curse. See if we remind viewers that it was Rumple that gave her the curse and then mentioned “the one that started this whole mess” it’s really easy to forget that it was actually Regina that started the mess.
Perhaps Gold did give Regina the gun. But she’s the one that went on a murdering spree with it. He holds a small amount of the responsibility for the curse but the majority is on Regina. She gathered the ingredients, she cast it. He just created it. If something is created and never used the thing has been harmless. It only stops being harmless when used.
THIS.
