End of year thoughts (if anyone cares to read)

Ive struggled with depression and anxiety for a very long time. I have good days and bad days but im usually great at putting on a mask and still showing up for people no matter how I feel bc I kno how that other side feels

Then my dad passed in 2023 and I've been in shambles ever since. Im not ok

My social media presence has dropped significantly, I dont post a lot but every so often I'll post some type of "proof of life" recap of things I've forced myself to do thru the months since my last post that I honestly have very little recollection of

Its often things that I wanted to do, things I once found great joy in doin, but I've been on auto pilot and nothing is really sticking

I was having a conversation with one of my oldest friends, finally being somewhat transparent about not being ok, abt being on auto pilot, about how im barely clocked into life and just barely making it thru

Their response....

"Well, I see ur still traveling and going to xyz and doing abc.. you seem fine to me....... I wish i could go to *insert city* or be outside..."

I dont think I've ever shut tf up so fast in my life

Every recap I post is surface level, im personally drowning, I dont remember doing 85% of this shit 2 weeks later.. thank God im a photographer and capture these moments bc without the photos I'd have no memory of it at all

But apparently showing surface level happiness is good enough for people so they wont actually check in
