Self Isolate

With each note, this song strings my heart on a thread.

To Isolate my mind from the worries outside my bed.

Yet we blur the connections. From me to you.

Each of us are human, I see it too.

We suffer, we grieve. From all the outside things.

But through isolation may we cope as beings.

Fortresses, walls, barriers we create.

Yet, suddenly... it will be the very thing we must break.

So make some noise, fight to live for your own sake.

We need the connections. From work or play.

For each of us are human, that is... what I'm trying to say...

We laugh. We smile. Hoping the moment will stay awhile.

Never-endings not really existing,

Perhaps, in memory we will forever be reminiscing.

The awkward hellos and the tormenting goodbyes.

We are a community, so let's be the shoulder for each other in times we can't dry the eyes.

Adventure Paws

No matter how far and wide we go.

You are the love that carries me home.

You remind me to be silly, when things run still.

You remind me to give grace, when you make a mess on my windowsill.

Your adventurous spirit, pulls me along

As you chirp at the squirrels, rabbits, and listen to the birdsong.

I hope you never lose the valor in your heart

When you hiss at strangers that knock our routine apart.

You're my little deviled creature.

The messes you make.

Are signs of a life well lived.

I hope you will continue

To leave emotional craters in your wake.

you:

build community & involve yourself locally

learn self sustainability skills

choose kindness

protect others & yourself

join or build a mutual aid group and/or network

find time for small joys (the arts, cooking a meal you love, spending time with loved ones, etc.)

you get to feel all the despair you want in this moment. but tomorrow morning you have to get up and resume the work. pick any of the above options. come up with your own meaningful ways to connect with the people around you so you all have support, no matter what happens in the future. give yourself something good to work towards.

Give Yourself That Justice

You never said I had to help you but how can I not want to? How. When you are begging to be saved from the aching inside Stress invading - waiting for you to have caved - For that, I can not save you. To what extent do I - What line do I cross - I'm still here, but I am contemplating a response. I have all this emotion All this adoration I have for you even with all the commotion. You're my soul sister whose pain pursue. So give yourself that justice I'm not mad, my caring's just loud. It's hard to see you living in that numbness of self-hate and apathy you've endowed. Your mother is a rock. An unforgiving, greedy one mind you. But you know that, which brings you to a heart-block which you have yet to break through. I want to shake you out of this. this... monster with two heads. Its behaviour is abusive and stubbornly amiss but it is not up to me to decide a friend's affairs. You type angry words and it fills our chat until it stirs blatantly and it just seems so absurd that you let it lull you to complacency. So give yourself that justice Where your spirit will once more be free. I know you are tired, so just trust us. So speak, even if they don't see. I just don't want you to be needlessly suffering.

Your shift is over

To Whom it might concern... To those suffering with fear and anxiety...

Remember to take one step at a time. I don't know you... But I know anxiety. I know fear.

I hope you won't let fear define you. I hope you are able to take a step back and redirect the negative or scary event back.

Today I had someone tell me they were disappointed in me. They said my effort wasn't good enough. That my work was shit.

I hated hearing that. From someone I didn't know? A name/face I saw only in passing was now passing judgement on me for my best effort.

I share this because I didn't accept their disappointment. They weren't my boss. They weren't anyone I reported to. I did not want to wear the emotion they were projecting to me.

I politely replied, "Things happen that are out of our control. I do not accept your frustration or your disappointment in me. You can keep that emotion, I will not wear it."

And I left them to it.

Leave the bad at the door. Ask yourself, "Was this my best effort?" If the answer was yes, think no more.

"What does happiness mean to you?"

Some people say "Happiness is a choice". I used to believe that. But I have experienced the all too common drought of love. When the body fails the spirit. So I will amend that statement to "Happiness is a state of mind." I hope we can choose to find the good in things even when everything is against us. Even during the droughts of reason and the storms of chaos. I hope I can continue to be grateful for this small life I have. I find it is easier to be happy with an attitude of gratitude.
