synopsis. a bouquet of flowers are left on your desk like a trophy every day. you appreciated them, it actually made your day. there’s just one tiny problem, you don’t know who they’re from.

walking into class felt like a mystery, always wondering what type of flowers were going to be sitting on your desk. everybody in your class knew, they never asked questions after the first week it started happening.
they always got the same answer from you, "i don't know who left them, they didn't leave a note again."
you walk to your desk, already spotting the new bouquet of flowers. white roses, how romantic. you peek to your desk buddy who scrolled on his phone unbothered. after taking a seat, you tap his thigh.
"juhoon, quick question."
"shoot." he mumbled, not even looking up from his phone. "did you see who left the flowers?" you couldn't help but ask, even though deep down you already knew the answer.
it was the same answer you got everyday, "nope."
you sigh, shoulders slumping in disappointment. "they're gonna have to reveal themselves one day." you mumble, talking about your little secret admirer. "and they better make it quick."
you don't bother reacting to juhoon's stifled laugh.
in the cafeteria hours later, hyein stared at you with pity. "don't look at me like that," you mumble, picking at your untouched food. "it makes me feel like a loser."
"well, you look like one." she joked. you rolled your eyes, failing to keep a neutral expression. "it's just," you can't help the heavy exhale that left your lip-gloss covered lips. "it's so annoying. it's been going on since the beginning of the year."
"i would say put up a camera, but that'll never work. especially since we're at school.” hyein shrugged, stuffing her mouth with a nugget. "i wonder why it's taking them so long to fess up." you mutter, leaving hyein to shrug with a frown.
with your head in your hands, your eyes drift away from the only girl you pay attention to. you found yourself scanning the cafeteria tables around you, that were surrounded by teenage kids.
you spot yoonchae with her group. yoonchae talks to you during history class when the teacher isn't yapping his mouth off. now that you think of it, yoonchae knows everything that goes on in your school. mainly because yoonchae and her friends are everywhere, hearing drama from a student who heard it from another student.
"do you think yoonchae or her friend group know anything?" you ask hyein who shrugged. "maybe, those girls know everything. they congratulated me for recovering from the flu last week. how the fuck did they know i had the flu?" hyein said with food in her mouth. you gave her a look, making her give you a guilty look. "sorry.”
"i'm gonna go ask her. i'll be right back." hyein gave you a thumbs up with a smirk. when you reached yoonchae's table, the trio quickly quieted down at the sight of you. her friend, ella, gave you a teasing smile. "y/n, here to ask about your secret admirer?"
you frown, "uhm, yeah. how did you know?"
her other friend, rora, smirked. "why else would you be here?" she said while patting the spot next to her. you reluctantly sit, shoulders tense. "do you guys know who it is?”
yoonchae shook her head, "no, unfortunately. but we know who does." you perk up, "who? do i know them?" ella chuckled, "even better, you sit next to him everyday."
you frown once more, only one person coming to mind. "wait, are you talking about juhoon?" rora nodded, "that's the one."
"but he said he never sees the person who leaves the flowers."
"that's because he doesn't. juhoon leaves the flowers on behalf of your secret admirer." ella explained. you open your mouth, but nothing comes out. you felt a sense of betrayal in your chest. juhoon knows how much you've been wanting to know the person who leaves you a bouquet of flowers everyday.
"how do you know this?" was the only thing that could leave your mouth.
ella smirked, "my associate heard juhoon talking on the phone with your secret admirer. quote on quote saying, "i can't keep leaving flowers on her desk, i'm waking up 30 minutes early to get here before anybody else" he was obviously unaware that somebody heard him."
"need help confronting him? i have a good angry voice!" rora said with a wide smile. you gave her a awkward smile,
"uhm no, thanks. thank you guys, i'll see yall later." you said before standing up and quickly walking back to hyein who was already staring at you with raised eyebrows.
"i'm assuming you heard something you didn't like, but that's just a quick observation." she said with a chuckle as you sat down in front of her. "they said juhoon knows who my secret admirer is."
hyein's face filled with shock. "holy shit, are they sure?" you nodded, shoving a fry into your mouth. "somebody heard him on the phone, complaining about how he had to leave flowers on the behalf of my admirer.”
your best friend's mouth fell open, "and that bitch had the nerve to lie to your face, we need to beat his ass!"
you shook your head after rolling your eyes jokingly, "we're not beating anybody's ass. if anything he'd probably beat our ass. i'm just gonna talk to him." hyein perked up like a puppy wanting a treat. "i'm coming with you!"
"i regret coming with you." hyein groaned loudly, trying to get comfortable in the passenger seat of your car. "shh!" you whisper shouted, even though nobody could hear you.
you and hyein watched the school doors with an eye of an hawk, trying to spot juhoon.
you've been sitting in front of the school for almost three hours, waiting for juhoon to finish basketball practice.
"what if he already left and we missed him?"
you shook your head, "doubt it. he always leaves with james and his car is still here." you say, pointing at the senior's gray car that sat a couple of feet away from your own car.
hyein sat up, shaking your shoulder repeatedly. "he's coming out, let's go!" she said excitedly before opening the door. you follow quickly after her, catching james and juhoon's eye immediately.
"oh, hey girls." james said with a smile. you gave him a little wave before turning to juhoon. "we need to talk."
juhoon raised a brow at your non-sweet tone. "about what?" you give james a little side glance before turning back to the junior. "in private."
james pressed his lips together before turning to hyein, "let's take a walk i guess." hyein patted your back before following after james. juhoon walked closer to you, his brows frowned in confusion. "is something wrong?"
"i know you know, juhoon."
you could see the way he froze, the way his shoulders tense up before he shook his head. "know what?"
"stop playing dumb," you muttered annoyed. juhoon visibly gulped, you've never been mad at him. "you know who my secret admirer is."
he stayed silent for a couple seconds, a million thoughts running through his mind. juhoon looked away from your piercing gaze, contemplating his next words.
a heavy sigh left his lips, "fine, i know."
you gently slapped his shoulder, "juhoon! you know i've been wanting to figure out who this person is. i asked you everyday and you lied to me every time!"
"i know, i'm sorry y/n. truly. it's just.. he didn't want me to tell you." he said softly, not bothered by the hit he received.
"i can't tell you." he whispered. you grabbed onto his shoulders, "juhoon, you'll be doing me a solid if you tell me who this person is. please? i won't say that i know, just.. tell me."
juhoon bit his lip nervously, but before he could answer, the front doors of the school opened, 3 figures walking outside right after.
you pull away from juhoon and turn, easily recognizing the boys that walked out as classmates from a couple of your classes.
the tall one with blonde hair, martin edwards. the one with the dimples, eom seonghyeon. and the shy quiet one that's always smiling, ahn keonho.
martin cleared his throat, sensing the tension. "everything good?" juhoon gave you a quick glance, "yeah, we're fine."
"are you okay?" keonho suddenly asked you. you nodded, eyes darting to hyein and james who was approaching the group.
"what were y'all talking about?" seonghyeon asked, looking between the both of y'all. juhoon shook his head, "homework."
"it looked pretty heated." keonho said, his eyes stuck on juhoon. you couldn't help but notice the look keonho was giving juhoon.
it was a nervous look, it almost looked like.. fear. for someone who's usually all smiley and joyful, he looked pretty serious. a sudden thought ran through your mind. what if he was scared juhoon spilled something?
nahhh, that wouldn't make sense. you and keonho barely talked. you could count with your fingers how many times yall have ever shared words (3 times in total). it truly wouldn't make sense for him to have any sort of feelings towards you. well, at least that's what you think.
"it was nothing important." you muttered out. "well, me and y/n are gonna get going." hyein said as she took ahold of your arm.
as hyein talked, you could see keonho staring at you from the corner of your eye. you shifted, your neck getting a bit warm. why was he staring at you? did you have something on your face?
"oh, where are you guys going?" keonho asked with a smile. he was cute, in a puppy kind of way. "oh uhm, my and y/n have to finish a project for ms.lee's class." hyein said.
seonghyeon nodded, "oh, well see you girls tomorrow." you both nodded, hyein getting ready to leave but before yall could leave, you pull juhoon to the side. "i'm serious ju, tell your little friend to stop leaving me flowers if they're gonna continue hiding behind you." you say.
you took notice of juhoon's nervous eyes, the way they quickly darted to keonho. it lasted for one second, but you saw it.
juhoon nodded, "alright, see you tomorrow."
the drive to hyein's place was quiet. you couldn't help but think of all the signs that were there.
keonho's frightened stare, the look juhoon gave keonho, the way he was staring at you.
it all pointed back to him. ahn keonho.
"i can feel a headache coming, i want to punch juhoon in the ass." you grumble under your breath. hyein chuckled, shaking her head.
"you know i wasn't lying about that project, right? we seriously need to finish it or else ms. lee is gonna fail our asses." hyein said, making you whine.
"finee. we need to pick up ribbons to make it look presentable." you chuckled, turning the car into the local flower shop. they have the prettiest ribbons.
the bell above the door jingles as you and hyein walk in. and almost like it was fate, there he was.
how did he get here so quick? maybe james dropped him off? was the only thing you could think of when you saw him.
he's standing at the counter, holding a bouquet of orange tulips. you felt yourself freeze. nah, it had to be a coincidence. somehow he hasn't noticed you yet.
you feel hyein grab onto your arm, "no way, am i seeing this correctly?" she whisper shouted, but you couldn't find your voice to answer her.
keonho looked awkward at the register, digging into his pockets for cash. he looked so.. nervous. why was he nervous?
the elderly lady at the register gave him a soft, knowing smile. "ah young man, don't be so nervous. you've been buying flowers everyday like it's a mission. i'm sure who ever the lucky girl is will like you back."
he's been buying flowers everyday.
now that, is not a coincidence.
you can feel your ears start to ring.
almost as if he sensed you, keonho froze up. quickly glancing towards the door and immediately locking eyes with you. it felt like everything stopped. you noticed the way his ears turned a rosy red along with his cheeks.
you felt like you couldn't move. not like you wanted to, honestly.
the cashier follows his gaze and gasps, "oh, is this the lucky girl?" keonho clears his throat, not answering and instead dropping the exact change on the counter. "thank you, mrs. kim."
hyein squeezed your arm so hard it hurt. "i knew it!" she hissed under her breath.
keonho turns towards the door, well, towards you. it almost looked like he was about to bolt. the way his eyes kept shifting around, looking for another exit maybe.
but instead, he stops in front of you. he won't look at you at first, keeping his eyes on the orange tulips instead of your dark, beautiful eyes.
"uhm.. i'm gonna go look at plants, or something." hyein quickly said, giving you a wink before disappearing behind an aisle. your gaze returns to keonho who is still keeping his eyes down.
before you could say anything, he speaks up. "these were going to be on your desk tomorrow." he said quietly. you almost wanted to coo out loud due to how red his cheeks were. your heart was beating so loud you're sure he could hear it.
"did you know? did juhoon tell you?" he asked, puppy eyes looking down at you. you shook your head, "nah, couldn't get him to break. but.. i did have a feeling."
he nodded, looking back down nervously. you shifted, deciding on your next step.
"why didn't you tell me?" you asked quietly. he stayed quiet for a second, before shrugging, one shoulder lifting. "i didn't think you'd want them.. from me."
your chest ached, hearing him so sad. you reach for the flowers, his fingers brushing yours. he almost pulled back, but you quickly grab onto his hand.
"i did want them from you," you say softly. "i do want them from you." his eyes flicker up to stare into yours, a look of disbelief painted on his face. "wait, really?"
you nodded, a soft look taking over your features when you felt his hand shake. "tomorrow, you won't have to make juhoon sneak them into my desk."
he blinks, clearly dumbfounded. "i won't?"
"no," you smirk a bit. "because you will give them to me yourself, face to face."
and for the first time since you entered the little flower shop, he smiled. so brightly that you couldn't help but copy him. "okay, i will. also.. how about i take you out friday night?"
you couldn't help but laugh a little, "deal."
