We haven't heard of Santa Claus, or wishing upon a shooting star. We had torn tires to roll around as our definition of play, And miles to hike and thirst to quench as we walked every day. It was the survival of the fittest and very few survived, Those who made it to the finishing line hardly made it alive. It was mostly black or white and usually the former prevailed, With the sun burning our backs and hunger burning our soul, It was our childhood that was curtailed. A collaboration. And suddenly it made no sense. Running around in chaos of nothingness. Being lost in trivial cycles of life. That was all he had done and considered worth doing, Running. He still ran the same. Still got on that 8 am bus for a corner office, cold lunch, an angry boss, lost ambitions and a ride back home. Only what was home?
