’90s Teenagers in Their Bedrooms, Adrienne Salinger
In 1995, artist Adrienne Salinger wanted to depict the authentic lives of young people in ‘90s America — a contrast to the perfect Beverly Hills 90210 types portrayed in the media. She photographed teens in the most intimate space of all: their bedrooms.

don’t allow someone to treat you poorly just because you love them
What’s the furthest place from here? It hasn’t been my day for a couple years. What’s a couple more? And if I go, don’t forget the one good thing I almost did. I learned your name without words. I used my eyes, not my hands.
Last year, the young Tennessee singer-songwriter Julien Baker ripped our collective heart out with Sprained Ankle, her debut album. She’s been touring hard behind it, and during a recent tour stop in Brussels, she played a solo cover of Jawbreaker’s “Accident Prone.” That song originally appeared on 1995’s Dear You, Jawbreaker’s one and only major-label album, the album that tore the band apart. Baker’s take on the song is radically different; it’s a spare solo piano ballad. But as with her cover of Elliott Smith’s “Ballad Of Big Nothing,” she gets at the vulnerability at the song’s heart while changing its music up completely. || via Stereogum

The Perfect Explanation of Privilege – In One Powerful Punchline
“The Pencilsword” is a comic strip by Toby Morris, an illustrator from New Zealand. His most recent comic, “On a Plate” hits hard at the heart of the issues of concerning wealth and privilege.
How many times have you heard the “I’ve never been handed anything on a platter” argument in regard to social security and other social benefits?
Toby wrecks this argument by showing how two children can grow up, be loved and supported, and yet still have two very different outcomes.
Make sure to follow all the way to the end for the powerful punchline. This comic is an increasingly sad reality for far too many of this nation’s children and families.
