klimt is one of my favorite artists so i decided to do something inspired by his work (equally inspired by my magritte homages from a few zutara weeks ago) . i'm very excited about this one and happy zutara week to all!

Bending Swap Zutara is such an underrated trope mostly because LORD knows Katara would be a TERRIBLE firebender. It clearly requires SO MUCH emotional control and focus that girl just doesn't have. She's flying off the handle and burning something to the ground IMMEDIATELY, and then throwing a fit about how difficult firebending is, and there's so much potential comedy in that.

ZUTARA WEEK - DAY 4: Visions

"It actually helps you see..." —Hakoda

Visions was a very, very hard prompt to figure out. Instead of presenting the theme of visions to fortell what is to come, I changed it around to mean "a vision of what could happen". Hakoda's words to Katara are very symbolic and beautiful, showcasing how love is not a compromise of yourself. Rather, it is what you willingly give up to understand the other person. This quote ties together Zuko and Katara's relationship REALLY well (and yes, I KNOW it's not about them). One of the many of the reaaons why Zuko and Katara is such a unique pairing to me is that they both sacrifice parts of themselves to understand each other: vulnerability, their boundaries, and stereotypes. But they never had to compromise for one another.

i swear to god if people don't start understanding that responding to doylist critique of a piece of media with watsonian exonerations is not an actual rebuttal

somebody saying "hey i don't like that the only gay man in this story is a weird pervert and it portrays gay sexual promiscuity as a moral failing and character flaw" cannot be rebuked by arguing about how the character's backstory or personality traits explain their behaviour. the choices made by a writer are all fundamentally mutable; somebody saying an author's choices should have been different is not going to be persuaded by an argument that takes those choices as immovable fact
