@babybirdoli
The racism perpetuates the double standard.
I’m every one in this
MAN 1 (in a high pitched, whiny voice) Look what you’ve done to my peonies!
WOMAN (angrily) They’re marigolds!
MAN 2 God! I think she’s right! They are marigolds!
MAN 1 I may not know my flowers, but I know a (yells in her direction) bitch when I see one!
It’s back!
I looked this up because I had to know what it’s from. It’s a film called The Gay Deceivers (1969), and it’s about two straight men who, seeking to avoid the draft, claim to be gay, but then have to keep up the pretense when the army places them under surveillance.
The man in the red cardigan in the clip was played by Michael Greer, who was openly gay himself - unusual for the time. He actually worked closely with the director and rewrote much of the film’s dialogue to reduce the homophobia and make it more realistic. As a result it’s quite progressive for its time, having a gay character, played by a gay man, living in a happy same-sex relationship, which is more than a lot of media offers us today.
Plus the clip is delightful.
I just needed this again.
They have spent years watching FOX.
that time of the year when you realize the depression isn’t seasonal
cinematographers need to stop being so afraid of lighting. like i get it your movie is grim and serious, but i promise it would be even more grim and serious if i could actually see what was happening
Good morning to Black People and Black People only. Happy Black History Month. Reblog to dap each other up.

Btw, this is how conservatives keep getting to claim that trans people are a new thing no one has ever heard, because our history and existences have continually been erased or obscured systematically through out history.
The most famous example was 92 years when the Nazis raided the library of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the medical practice where the term transsexual was first coined and the first gender affirming surgery was performed in in 1931.
What did the Nazis do after raiding the library on May 6th, 1933? You may be familiar with these images
It is happening again.
shoutout to all the accounts I followed years ago for the old guard content that have since moved on to other fandoms that are now reawakening like sleeper agents after the old guard 2 announcement
the old guard fandom… we fucking did it.
we survived the drought.
old guard 2 releases july 2nd on netflix
I love Rose Tyler because every time she encountered a new alien life form or a fellow human that seemed to be mistreated in some way she went “HELLO DO THEY TREAT YOU WELL, HOW MUCH DO THEY PAY YOU, ARE YOUR BASIC RIGHTS BEING VIOLATED, DID YOU KNOW YOU ARE ENTITLED TO AN EIGHT HOUR SHIFT AND THREE WEEKS OF VACATION ALSO YOU COULD JOIN A UNION, MY NAME IS ROSE I’M HERE TO HELP” and that was just so rad of her
It’s because she worked in retail
a date ????????? we used to pray for days like this
Congratulations.
it’s funny cause EVERY SINGLE time I see this, I’ve been scrolling for 30 seconds tops
@noonesgaylikegatson your post has not left my mind since you made it. I see it everywhere.
The best detail in The Old Guard is that every single time one of them "dies" briefly, they all wait with their breath held to find out if that person is going to wake back up. They're constantly worried that the last time they woke up will be the last time they ever wake back up, the last time their friends wake back up. Choosing to add that, with such clear intention by the actors and the director, not only increases the stakes, because you know it might happen just like they know, but also gives the story such an emotional punch. Its not guaranteed, life is not guaranteed even to the immortal ones. Every breath is precious even when they've been infinite.
