Not caring is a Republican’s top qualification.
Republicans are up in arms that fewer Americans were able to sign up for Obamacare than anticipated.
But don’t let the fake outrage fool you. They’d rather see nobody sign up.
It’s like putting 1,000 more people on the Titanic when you knew what was going to happen.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), quoted by the New York Times, on why he chose not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
So Medicaid expansion and access to affordable health care is going to kill people or going to kill Texas? Rick is making Sarah Palin look good.
The Titanic in this metaphor is really the health care debt sinking people and causing bankruptcy and ruin, and Medicaid expansion and Obamacare are the lifeboats helping people escape.

If that’s what they wanted, I’d have to hold my nose… they’d probably have to hold a gun to my head, but yeah.
Nevada Assemblyman Jim Wheeler (R), quoted by the Reno Gazette Journal , saying he would vote to legalize slavery if his constituents wanted.
Republican values. Will his own party call him out?

THIS IS WHAT ANARCHY LOOKS LIKE.
Hope for the future.
This kid is incredible.
For too long, people have presumed that anorexia nervosa is simply a behavioural choice and that all individuals with the disorder wilfully maintain a low bodyweight to chase a societal appearance ideal. Anyone who has worked with anorexia patients will attest that even if the disorder started with a desire to attain a physical ideal (and it often does not), the low weight soon eludes wilful control.

I was riding in a van with a television crew who was doing a piece on HONY. The cameraman, Duane, was behind the wheel. At one point he casually remarked on how bad the traffic was in Ethiopia. "Ethiopia?" I asked. "What story were you working on there?" "It wasn’t a story," he replied. "We were picking up our daughter. He then told me the most amazing story. He told me that he and his wife were not able to conceive. “But I’d always resisted the idea of adoption,” he said. “My wife wanted to adopt right away, but I was just never sure if I’d be able to fully love a child that wasn’t my blood.” So time went on, and they remained childless. Then one evening Duane was watching a television show with his wife. The show was about aid work in Ethiopia. “They were showing before-and-after photos,” he explained. “I remember this one girl. She was skin and bones. But she still had this amazing smile and spirit in her eyes. The aid workers rehabilitated her, and six months later, she looked like a normal little girl. Right then, I turned to my wife, and said: ‘I’m ready to adopt.’” But it wasn’t as easy as he’d hoped. “At first I thought we needed an infant,” Duane explained. “I just couldn’t imagine missing out on all those early moments of our child’s life.” But for healthy infants, the waiting list was years. “So then we went we moved up to three or four year olds.” But still, the waiting list was one to two years. “The only children you could get immediately were seven and up, and who had physical handicaps of some sort. I just didn’t think I was ready for it.” But then Duane and his wife went on vacation. And toward the end of the trip, “after a few drinks,” Duane’s wife brought out a brochure from the adoption agency. One of the pictures showed an unsmiling seven year old girl, standing against the pink wall of an orphanage. She had been blinded in one eye. “That’s our daughter,” Duane said. Three years later after the Watkins adopted her, Chaltu has blossomed. She has grown over one foot, is fluent in English, and although blind in one eye, plays soccer, gymnastics, and basketball. She’s doing great at school, and has tons of friends. “She is the greatest daughter in the world,” Duane said. “That’s an unbelievable story,” I told Duane. “Can I share it on HONY?” “That’s fine with me,” he answered. Then he sort of stared at the ground for a second, shuffled his feet, and asked: “Would there be any possibility that you could help us raise the adoption fees to get her a brother? We’ve already found him, but aren’t financially ready yet.” LET’S BRING RICHARD HOME: Click here to donate!

Here’s an important thing: You will never be owed sex. At any time. From anyone. There aren’t enough favors or good deeds you can do, and there will never be a large enough donation you could make in the Morality Bank to guarantee future sex. Do good things or be nice to a woman because they’re the things you want to and should do, but remember that one of the most important aspects of gettin’ all up in them guts is not believing that said guts are yours for the up-gettin’-in by right.

Women do not have to:
be thin
give birth
cook for you
have long hair
wear makeup
have sex with you
be feminine
be graceful
shave
diet
be fashionable
wear pink
love men
be the media’s idea of perfection
listen to your bullshit
have a vagina
This is very true, but it’s important to remember that if a woman is feminine, graceful, shaves, diets, wears make up, or does any of these things in the list, it doesn’t make her a slave to patriarchy or any less of a feminist than you.
BLESS.
Actress Yvonne Strahovski, both playful and pretty, photographed for the New York Times a few weeks ago on her way to a pre-Emmy’s party. Strahovski, who has a film coming out next year ("I, Frankenstein") and is known for her roles on “Chuck” and “Dexter,” was just as down to earth as the first time I photographed her, shortly after her arrival in Hollywood in 2007.
