Me (trying to figure out why Alexander Ward has become my new brain worm): Since when have I had a thing for lanky white guys?
*remembers my adoration of Hozier and Zack Sabre Jr.*
Me:
i think he's handling things really well.
Anyway I think more video game quests should make you uncomfortable and guilty and mislead you and corner you between a rock and a hard place and offer hollow victories. There's nothing more annoying than quest writing that scrambles to assure you that you're niceys and good and nothing you put your hand on can ever have negative consequences. "You cannot save everyone" and I cheer and whoop etc.
Aabria and Ashley making the same face I made when Julien started talking about "planting his seed"

Ice operations have moved to harassing folk in Memphis
Huh. I wonder what else is going on in Tennessee (and specifically Memphis) right now?
Oh well, Iâm sure itâs a total coincidence.
(For those not in the know, @castformbignaturals is alluding to the fact Memphis is a majority Black city that stands to have its congressional representation entirely wiped out by redistricting led by the Republican governor of Tennessee who has, of course, welcomed the ICE occupation with open arms. Again, the project of MAGA is to reintroduce Jim Crow)
i think it's unfortunately a step beyond jim crow. they want to reintroduce chattel slavery.
my gen z sibling doesn't know shit about tumblr, so please, go look at their stuff, they just graduated college and are trying to start adult life and get a job in the arts

Controversial Truths About Ancient Egypt Masterpost
The pyramids were built by contemporary workers who received wages and were fed and taken care of during construction
The Dendera âlightbulbâ is a representation of the creation myth and has nothing to do with electricity
We didnât find âââcopper wiringâââ in the great pyramid either
Hatshepsut wasnât transgender
The gods didnât actually have animal heads
Hieroglyphs arenât mysteriously magical; theyâre just a language (seriously we have shopping lists and work rosters and even ancient erotica)
The ancient Egyptian ethnicity wasnât homogeneous
Noses (and ears, and arms) broke off statues and reliefs for a variety of reasons, none of which are âthere is a widespread archaeological conspiracy to hide the Egyptian ethnicityâ
The carvings at Abydos arenât modern machines but recarvings over old carvings. Sure they look like them but if you can read hieroglyphs and know that Ramesses II will even usurp the carvings of his own father just to be a little shit
âNo soot on the ceilings and walls of the Dendera temple!â is actually because of extensive restoration works and not because Egyptians were in on shit like Baghdad âbatteriesâ
While the Egyptians were fine-ass astronomers they didnât align any of their enormous and/or important buildings to modern star constellations, because constellations look very different now than they did ~5000 years agoÂ
The pyramid is the simplest, sturdiest shape with which to build and many different cultures discovered this in their own time. There were never any weird fish humans/aliens involved
The sphinx of Gizah is only an approximate 5000 years old; the 10,000 year/rain erosion nonsense is proven hokum
Speaking of that particular sphinx, the Napoleonic expedition is not responsible for its missing nose
Akhenaten was not a âhereticâ by contemporary standards
Ramses II appropriated a lot of his predecessorsâ buildings/reliefs and isnât really deserving of the epithet âthe Greatâ
The Battle of Kadesh ended in a stalemate (twice)
While they had feline deities throughout their history, Egyptians didnât actually worship cats themselves. This was a later Greek/Ptolemaeic addition
It was not, in fact, practice to shave off eyebrows after cats died; Herodotus lied about that
Herodotus lied about a lot of things and many misconceptions about ancient Egypt can be traced back to his Greek ass
I canât believe I forgot my favourite Hill to Die On
Seth was not the god of âevilâ, and despite his chaos providing a foil to order, he wasnât completely villified until very late in Egyptian history, when he became associated with despised foreign enemies
Hats off to the few of you whoâre reblogging this with tags saying youâre going to check my claims later. You make me not entirely despair of this hellhole.
Here are some vetted Egyptological books/sources (that are by and large appropriate for a lay-audience) you can find most, if not all of the above:
Lehner, M., The Complete Pyramids
Wilkinson, R. H., The Complete Temples of Ancient Egypt
Hornung, E., The One and the Many: Conceptions of God in Ancient Egypt
Dunand, F. & Zivie-Coche, C., Gods and Men in Egypt
Kemp, B., Ancient Egypt: Anatomy of a Civilization
Bard, K., An Introduction to the Archaeology of Ancient Egypt
Stevenson Smith, W., The Art and Architecture of Ancient Egypt
Kitchen, K. A., The Life and Times of Ramesses II, King of Egypt
Sweeney, D., Sex and Gender (in Ancient Egypt)
McDowell, A. G., Village Life in Ancient Egypt:Â Laundry Lists and Love Songs
Te Velde, H., Seth, God of ConfusionÂ
Guys do me a solid and reblog this version instead of continuously asking for sources on the other versions thanks
Excuse me please post ancient erotica link
hey itâs not my fault people keep reblogging the version without it!
when you watch too much wrestling you will inevitably forget that normal people generally think the idea of intentionally shedding blood during a performance is horrific
i feel like anyone who has tried to introduce wrestling to a super normie friend has had the moment where you've successfully gotten them to watch a ppv or go to a show with you, they're having a great time, you're flush with success, then they turn to you and go 'that blood looks so real! how do they fake it?' and oh no. oh no. i forgot
*deep breath* If the antifascist (esp. American-centered) art you make or consume refuses to acknowledge the truth that framing this time period as the "sudden rise of fascism" along with its supposed volatility (i.e. "it can't last; that's not how its built") is just a comforting construct to keep white Americans from reckoning with their literal centuries of active and passive participation in this country's fascist, genocidal violence against Indigenous and Black people, your art isn't just wrong...it's worthless. How can you imagine dismantling unjust systems without seeing the blood on your own hands? How do you comprehend the size of the fight for mutual liberation without seeing that the scale of the threat is exponentially larger than your personal experience of the danger of state violence; or is your envisioned win condition only as shallow as the return to your previous sense of safety?
Ignoring the complexities and well-established enmeshment of fascism in Western culture for the sake of simpler stories to inspire rising to this moment in history only builds fair-weather fighters ill-prepared for the rigors of revolutionary action. It also widens the rift between those newly awakened to the struggle and their neighbors that have lived it for generations (and have built and maintained systems of community support and resistance that have protected them for just as long).
If antifascist art doesn't first demand you turn the eye inward, it is only escapist fluff.

Do you use wrestling terms in your everyday life? I use âheelâ y âbabyfaceâ a lot, lol.
The amount of times Iâve said âit was a complete workâ and then had to explain what a work is would probably be enough for a sandwich if I was counting in nickels.
I have to stop myself from saying "gimmick" when I mean "concept"
