We need to talk about the fact that in Ep 11, when Mudeok sets up the bet for the golden toads, the Crown Prince is just... hanging out in a tree.

Not even at the palace. A tree in Songrim. And this makes sense to everyone.

How does he know this is the right tree? That Mudeok will just happen to come by so he can have a chat with her? Has he been up there all day, watching the wrong servants go by, and just kind of regally nodding "Carry on" when they notice him?

What is it like in this man's head?

I reached the episode where Mu-deok consumes the other soul shifter (s1 ep12) and Uk tries to comfort her.

She warns him not to get close because she might be running wild and he says, “no, you’re ok. You’re ok. You’re going to be fine,” in the softest voice. Then hugs her.

This drama truly taught me, “if he/she could, he/she would.” Honestly, if they could, they would and Uk truly said, “I will.”

Never go for the bare minimum.

HONESTLY LOVE THAT THEY AREN'T CAGING MUDEOK INTO BEING WITH SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR. SHE IS FREE TO CHOOSE WHOMEVER SHE LIKES AND THESE MEN WILL RESPECT IT. YES, THEY FEEL PAIN, OR SORROW BUT THEY WILL LET HER DO WHATEVER SHE PLEASES. THIS SERIES FOCUSES ON LOVE AND DRAMA BUT STILL EVERYONE IS SO WELL WRITTEN AND THERE IS A LOT OF CHARACTER GROWTH

Like, IS HE GIVING YOU TROUBLE QUEEN?? I KNOW YOU CAN HANDLE IT BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO TROUBLE YOURSELF BC I CAN DO IT FOR YOU.

IT HOLDS SO MUCH MEANING THAT SHE CHOOSES TO STAY WITH JANG WOOK EVEN WHEN THERE ARE OTHERS WHO ARE WILLING TO TAKE CARE OF HER

I just hope this theme continues throughout the series.

I'm liking the character of Crown Prince Go Won more and more with each new episode. He isn't like the typical antagonist who is always wishing the worst for the protagonist out of jealousy or out of shared affection for a lady. I also like how he isn't a complete fool who believes people blindly and he doesn't let certain things slide, he was quick to notice Eunuch Kim's absence and is also wary of the Queen even if she is his 'mother' because he trusts his logic and intuition. I love how he gets over his ego and does the right thing when situation requires, he also isn't absolutely opposed to the idea of working together with Jang Uk, Master Lee and other Songrim mages in order to curb the soul shifters and maintain peace in the kingdom. He certainly is one of the most interesting characters of all time and has one of best character developments ever!!

How did the crown prince grow up into this credible and good hearted young man? His dad doesn't seem particularly bright or interested in his son. The crown prince doesn't seem to be close to his mom - having no issue with the possibility of her being swapped or being the bad guy. Jinmu was his teacher. So then how did he turn out like this? Where does he get his senses, smarts, bravery and wisdom from?

The only good influence around him is Eunuch Oh.

Crown Prince is a very grey, very interesting character but what he felt for MuDeok ain’t “love”. It was a weird combination of friendship + respect + possessiveness + competiton coz she is Uk’s woman + mild-attraction. He really wouldn’t have paid her much attention if she wasn’t with Uk.

To him it was more about “why do you love/choose/root for Uk so much?” than “why don’t you love/choose me?”.
