cadmium yellow: what subjects or topics does your muse avoid, because they bring up harmful / painful memories?

though felicia acts promiscuous in nature, forward and flirtatious, it’s almost always used between a form of manipulation or to keep others off guard. she fiercely avoids any true intimacy, physical and emotional, and though she’d never admit this – it comes from a place of fear. felicia never wants to need anyone, and the last time she entertained the thought of it, of letting someone in – the option was taken from her.

the smell of money, honey. to be honest, she really does appreciate the smell of fresh, crisp bills. that aside, felicia has a tendency to use coconut scented products for her personal use.

bougainvillaea: would your muse consider themselves as blunt, or do they beat around the bush instead?

by personality, felicia is blunt. she isn’t afraid to tell you how it is or to hurt your feelings. although, for the sake of teasing or a need to play coy and play games, she can beat around the bush. she’ll talk you in circles for days before letting you discover her true goals if that’s what needs to be done.

“i have to disagree with you there. my girlfriend’s awesome, not boring.” peter replied with a shrug of his shoulders as he moved to stand, holding his mask and bucket in one hand. “there’s some berries nearby that i think might be edible. c’mon,” he said, gesturing for her to follow. “i feel like no matter what you do, your nails will probably get wrecked somehow. but hey, if you manage to keep them looking nice, props to you. that’s dedication for sure.” he added as he crouched down and began picking a different type of berries, ones that looked more promising when it came to being edible. “why pick fish when i could have a burger? or, better yet, a pizza? i mean, you can’t tell me you could say no to a pizza? well, you probably could, but… agree to disagree. pizza’s got a special place in my heart. i should start seeing if they’ll give avengers discounts. and i’ve got plenty of class, i just appreciate the simpler things in life.”

“i never said she was boring – i meant that entirety of a relationship sounds boring. nothing personal, but doesn’t dating – i don’t know, take the fun out of it? impede on your freedoms?” she partially, even half-heartedly, defended. felicia didn’t exactly feel as strongly about it as she tried to give off, but more reaffirming the views she told herself. with a sigh, she followed behind him regardless. “might be edible? you don’t want to sound more positive on that?” she questioned as she quirked a brow, glancing down at the berry bush pluck one off and examine it carefully. “fish cooked right is better than some burger made of ground up cow parts that you get in fast food places that barely taste like real meat. i have no problem with genuine burgers or pizza.” she clarified, testing a berry as she popped it in her mouth. “my father always told me to only accept the best of the best – rarely has it been the simple things, but you know, i can get my own discount too.”

“i read a lot of parental guardian 101 blogs back in the day and they all pretty much agreed that you can’t leave the house without ‘em. that and they should definitely be novelty. i wish… i’d kill for a cheese stick right now. or even just some cheese, preferably melted. if you’re in need of bubblegum, granola crumbs, melted lip balm or a coaster from a bar i was at last summer, lemme know.” felicia hardy. you know, as much as may did all she could to keep up with peter’s spidey drama, there were still a few blanks. as far as she could tell, felicia was somewhere in a morally ambiguous grey area so no need to go running for the hills. may hoped. “swell? man, i’m never gonna pick up a hot caveperson now.”

“you’ve just – you’ve said a lot of things here and i don’t think it’d be smart of me to delve into all of them but i do have one question.” she began, half debating between picking apart everything mentioned but instead let a more playful grin pull at her lips. “a coaster from a bar? i know any time i’ve felt the need to save a coaster, it had someone’s number on it. so, anyone worth calling? i mean, if you kept it all this time –” she trailed off, her tone teasing as she maneuvered between nearby trees, if only to keep moving. felicia had never been one to successfully sit still for long. her brow raised questioningly at her as she was back in eyesight. “have you found any hot cave people here? maybe you’re having more fun than i thought.”

loki chuckled softly in response as she listened to felicia explain what had happened. “𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 can be fun too. but you could have asked me to tag along, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 – we could have 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 this,” she said, pointing to the bite. “can i take a look at it? i can’t 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡, but i can at least clean and bandage the wound,” she replied, raising a brow. “where is it? the dinosaur and it’s mom? do you think it’ll be coming after you?” she asked, only 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥, but at the same time loki knew she was equipped to fight one of those things if needed.

“it’s what i do – i’m a thief, made a whole career out of it. not a legal one, but it works.” she paused, glancing down at the bite on her arm. “i never needed anyone to tag along before, but i guess i’ve never had dinosaurs as an obstacle before either.” felicia hesitated – this wasn’t exactly in her comfort zone, she’d always only counted on herself and rarely did anyone offer otherwise. finally, her shoulders shrugged. “i guess so – i mean, i don’t know what you really get out of handling my bloodied up arm, but i won’t stop you.” her arm offered out to the other as she pressed her lips together in thought. “i think i outran them, i don’t think they’d be too happy if they saw me but if i stay out of sight until they move on, it should be fine.”

“thank god. i was starting to worry there.” now truly wasn’t the time for sarcastic remarks and jokes, but mj had no other proper way to cope with the potential dinosaur threat. “i think you and i have a very different idea of what we’d do if we were about to die.” she flashed a smile at her. the constant talking was actually keeping her a bit at ease. “i don’t know how well that’ll work, but anything is worth a shot. i don’t how much of a use i can be, but i can help you the best i can.”

“well, if making out isn’t your style, what exactly would you do in an ‘about to die’ situation?” she questioned with some curiosity and amusement, brow quirking at the other woman. “because, i mean, i know i’m not parker, but i’ll have you know that i am a really good kisser.” maybe it was the most ridiculous conversation to be having at the moment, and felicia wasn’t intending to be taken at all seriously, but it kept them at ease considering the situation. she let out quick breath of air, resolving herself to the plan despite it going against her more self-serving nature. “i can move pretty quick with the grapplers, i’ll lead it in another direction. you just get yourself up to a higher level, should be safe there. ideal situation, i’ll meet up with you in a bit.”

when he heard felicia’s response, he had to hold back a sigh as he turned to face her. “i– karen isn’t imaginary, she’s my suit’s ai and definitely not my girlfriend. she’s practically a robot, why would i–,” he rambled off for a moment before abruptly stopping and sighing, shaking his head. “but the girlfriend that i do have is 100% real,” he added, somewhat defensively despite knowing, albeit deep down, that she was just teasing him. “yeah, i’m sure a lot of people would kill for a steak right now. why don’t you make one from a dinosaur?” he said with a chuckle, only half joking as he moved to stand up, leaving the berries where they were. “but if we’re gonna daydream about food right now, i’d love to have pizza. or maybe even mcdonalds. i think i just miss fast food in general.”

the sly grin that spread across her face seemed permanently fixed there in her amusement, her arms folding in front of her as she listened to him go on. what was felicia’s day if she didn’t successfully get peter worked up about something at least once? “a real girlfriend? sounds... boring.” she sighed, only a hint of defensiveness under her tone. not because he actually had a girlfriend – despite her teasing otherwise, she wasn’t interested and some part of was happy for him – but because if there was one thing the snap taught her, it was that no one would be looking for her if she disappeared. she told herself that was fine, easier that way. shaking her head, her body leaned against a tree further. “i’m not opposed to getting my hands dirty, but butchering my own dino steak doesn’t sounds get for my nails.” she mused, humming in thought. “really? all the day dreams in the world and you go with mcdonalds? what about.. smoked salmon? give it some class, spider.”

                FELICIA HARDY ☾ WRITING TASK 002

where are they currently staying?: felicia resides currently in her own built shelter, though if she’d actually built it herself or had some assistance in the matter can be argued. it is located among the trees, held above a stream of water. 

is there anything unique/specific to their room? it is likely too nice for being out in the jungle. it’s an open space but she’s managed to acquire some nice commodities, and you may recognize them as stolen from other shelters. even in the wilderness, she’s accepting nothing less than the best.

are they living near or with anyone else?: she lives on her own and is generally private about her personal space. she knows that if she asked, one of the shelters would likely take her in. yet, her instinct works against her trusting the kindness of others. to stay on her own is to protect herself. although, there are a few that she allows in the glorified tree house she’s made for herself.

do they have any pets or animals currently living with them? she does not, though she does allow some stray cats she’s come across to linger about.

have they done anything to make this feel homey? and if so, what?: beyond stealing anything nice she can get her hands on, felicia has took to making a few of her own paintings. they aren’t the stolen pieces of work she has back in new york, but prior to becoming the now renowned thief, she was an art major.

is there anything from the outside world they were able to find or bring with? felicia didn’t have much to truly call her own to begin with, most of what she’s owned has been stolen. the only thing she’s arrived with is her specialized suit and gadget. the grapplers attached at her wrist though were originally designed and used by her father, and are the closest thing she has that could be considered sentimental.

what do they wish they could have with them for comfort? hair products and fine wine. truthfully, felicia doesn’t find comfort in much – but she is prone to snuggling with large fluffy blankets.

“Come on, it’s just a scratch,” May waved a dismissive hand for added emphasis of just how just it was. A teeny tiny bit hypocritical of her to dismiss worry when both she and her own worry refused to be dismissed? Totally. Teeny tiny though. “I have a band-aid leftover in my purse, I‘ll be fine. I think at this point we have to agree that being eaten or literally melting were the big two to avoid. This is nothing.”

“do you always keep spare band-aids in your purse? that’s so... parental guardian of you. do you also keep juice boxes and cheese sticks in there?” she quirked a brow, partially out of curiosity but mostly as a means to amuse herself. she didn’t particularly know may well, in passing, but she knew of her. “anyway, a little blood is always better than not melting and i’m no expert, but i have some experience with self-medical care and that looks like it’s going to swell.”

the rain had stopped, and peter couldn’t be more relieved. since arriving in the savage lands, he’d tried to save his webs, not using them unless he absolutely had to. and though it was a good idea in theory, they were nearly a month into being here and he was nearly out of web fluid. unfortunately for him, it wasn’t like he’d easily find the chemicals he needed to make more. unless he searched either the labs of either compound or the baxter building in hopes he’d find the right stuff, but he had yet to do that. the one thing he had accomplished was the repair to his lenses. his suit was still tattered in some places, but he was at least glad that his mask looked like normal again. “hey, karen,” peter said aloud to his ai, crouching down in front of a plant with berries on it. “is this poisonous?” he asked, pausing for a response before he realized there was someone, not too far from where he was, staring at him. “uh – i’m not crazy,” he began, slowly moving to stand back up. “i swear i wasn’t just talking to myself. okay, well, i kind of was but– it’s complicated.” he rambled, sighing. “do you know much about wild fruit? i’m trying to determine whether or not this stuff’s edible.”

her pride was likely to get her killed – well, she’d had a few close calls already in that department but she supposed everyone had in this place. felicia had been stubbornly remaining on her own with makeshift shelters and a doubt she’d be welcome in the homes of heroes, even if she were, it’d be because someone took pity on her and she couldn’t have that. it was as she was attempting to get some rest in a tree that she heard peter’s voice and decided to lower herself down. “good – i was concerned you were coming up with imaginary girlfriends and i was very nearly offended.” not really, but she liked to tease him and suspected he knew that by now. she’d also figured he’d have some sort of ai in his suit, with stark’s technology being what it was. “after being in this place, i know more about wild fruit than i ever cared to know. what i wouldn’t for a filet mignon and red wine right about now.” she hummed seeming stuck in a daydream about food for a split second before looking back to him. “but to answer your question, no, i don’t think they are.”

felicia’s outward expressions of frustration didn’t bother mj in the slightest. she understood the crappy situation they were in and knew she’d be the exact same way if she had the energy. she was right though, of course mj didn’t want to die. not by being a dinosaur’s lunch snack. the vents. why hadn’t she thought of that before? she asked herself. “uh..” she started off, thinking back to the last time she was in the air. peter took her swinging with his webs and the simplest way to put it is that she would never do that again. the non-simple way? peter almost dropped her mid-swing. but this was a literal life or death moment. no time for her newfound fear of heights. “good enough to override my will to not die so, let’s get this over with.” 

the sound of dinosaurs stomping echoed down the hall and clearly getting closer to them. if she hadn’t agreed soon, felicia likely wouldn’t have asked permission. well, it’d either be that or let her be trampled and the last thing she wanted was to have to explain that to anyone else. it was almost a relief that she agreed – certainly made things easier. “alright, here – just brace yourself, if you let it catch you off guard, you’ll dislocate your arm and that’s no fun.” she explained, taking off one of the grapplers from her own wrist and attaching it to mj’s. “ready?” she took her arm and angled it upwards, aiming it towards the vents. “it’s going to give you a good pull in 3, 2, 1 –” she hit the button to make the grappler launch, following with her remaining one only a moment after.

“you could always just throw me to the dinosaurs,” she joked. after a few moments, she was finally able to catch her breath. straightening up, she leaned her back against the wall with one foot propped up against it. “we could distract them? i hate to break it to you, but the whole ‘dinosaurs wanting to eat us’ setting isn’t a great make out setting.” mary jane was fresh out of ideas, and felicia’s words brought her no comfort. “you’ll need at least one idea that works just in case shit hits the fan.”

“still could – lucky for you, i’m a thief, not a murderer.” felicia shrugged, a slight grin playing at her lips. she certainly wasn’t what anyone would describe as a hero, or even really a good person, but she had her limits. “are you sure? i mean, if i were about to die, i’d kind of want to make out with someone one last time first. have some imagination.” she laughed in some amusement, for the most part just seeing if she could get under the others skin. “worst case scenario, i can keep it busy. i’m very distracting. i mean, it’ll be new to distract a dinosaur but i’m sure i can figure it out.”

harry raised his hands in surrender, his eyebrows raised in quiet compromise. he knew when to take a step back. although in his defence, he was trying to lighten up the mood considering they were about to be roasted. obviously, felicia didn’t appreciate the thought. “oh trust me, this heat won’t do anything to my hair either.” that little bit of vanity came out from him but it wasn’t as if he was lying about it ruining his hair. he looked at the air vents, visually assessing if he actually can pass through. “yeah, i think i’m lean enough for that. any idea where that leads to?” because if that lead outside to the acid rain…well. that’s a story for another time.

in nearly any other situation, felicia may not have minded the humor. fairly, he wasn’t cause for her sour mood at all – he just happened to be the unfortunate soul stuck with her for the time being. no, what she hated was that they were in a position that could result in death and she had very little control over it. “if we survive this, we’re having a conversation about hair products in this hell hole.” she commented, hands resting on her hips as she examined the air vent. “not a clue, but generally they connect a few rooms and have to connect to the cooling system somewhere. but i would rather face a maybe dying that way instead of a definitely dying in here.” she kicked a chair over, moving to stand on it as she worked off the bolts holding the vent cover in place.

“sometimes, but don’t tell my brother that.” loki replied with a rather dramatic sigh as she looked over at felicia. “what did you do this time? my areas of expertise tend to be mischief, lies and stealing glowing boxes… usually over and over again.” she said, shrugging her shoulders. “please, do tell. i’m quite curious.”

“mine is usually just stealing, it’s a calling, really –– anyway, that’s what i was doing.” she began, sitting herself up on a countertop, legs crossed as she continued. “i figured big hero compound, even these guys have to like their booze, right? and if i’m going to end up eaten by dinosaurs, i want to be drunk first. so – i found some, but turns out theres this little family of dinosaurs in the room and one of them bites me –” she paused, turning her arm to show the bite mark. “so i smacked it with a little electric shock. long story short, it has a mom and i think she’s pissed.”

“no of course i don’t know where i’m going!” michelle responded, throwing her hands up in the air. she could understand the other’s frustration. she didn’t exactly want to be trampled either. the best she could think to do in that moment was to split up and possibly lose it somewhere? “you don’t know, but even if i wasn’t trying send you in a dinos direction, it could happen by accident. but sure let’s go the same way. we’ve got the same chances of dying but at least we won’t be alone.”

there was no denying that felicia had a flair for the dramatics, the kind that made her huff a little louder than she needed to. it had nothing to do with the other girl, but she was more concerned than she cared to admit and she just happened to be there. “i’m not going to die, not today, and sure as hell not by dinosaur. if i die, i’m dying pretty, not by being stomped into a pancake. and i’m betting you don’t want to die either, so let’s figure this out.” she rambled slightly, taking in their surroundings. “they can’t trample us if we aren’t on the ground.” she gestured to vents along the ceiling above and revealing the grapplers hidden along the sleeve around her wrist. they were spider webs, but they did the trick. “how are you with heights?”

“i’m fine, but i don’t think my heart actually stopped.” mj thought they were safe here, but turns out they weren’t alone. a few dinosaurs had taken shelter here as well. “as long as we avoid them, we should be fine, right?” she wondered as she moved out of the dinosaurs’ sight. “honestly, i don’t know if we’ll be alive much longer if those things decide to come after us.”

“well, that’s fortunate. i wouldn’t really know what do with a dead body here.” her shoulders shrugged in response. felicia was deflecting, though, not wishing to admit they had larger problems here and she didn’t have all the answers. “avoiding them means we’re going to be stuck here a while, until they find something to go after. it’s like that game – seven minutes in heaven, but longer and we probably won’t make out.” her tone was likely too casual for comfort. “if they do come after us, i have a few tricks up my metaphorical sleeves, but i’d rather not find out if they’ll actually work.”

felicia turned to harry, her head tilting in a lack of amusement. “i hope you still find that funny when we’re burned extra crispy.” she pointed out, a small attempt to feign that the smoke and heat weren’t getting to her. felicia turned around, searching the room for any other places to exit. “i don’t know about you, but this heat is going to do nothing for my hair. i know i can make it but do you think those air vents are big enough for you to shimmy through?”

“– do you even know where you’re going?” felicia huffed in frustration. it wasn’t anything personal, but she’d rather not be trampled by a dinosaur and truthfully, she didn’t know her way around the compound either. she could normally map any building quickly but this place felt as though it were a maze. “and how do i know you aren’t telling me to go the direction of something that would eat me? at least if we go the same way, we have equal chances of dying.”
