He winced slightly as he heard that word. Awful. Yes, it was possible, if these hazy dreams were really fragments of memories from a previous life - incarnation? He didnât know what to call it - then it was wholly possible that he wasnât some paragon of justice and what was good for the world. He knew he wasnât in this life, either, although he couldnât wholly blame himself for that either.
He silently listened to her words, although hearing that ultimatum he slowly rose from his seat, the last thing lifting was his head, then his eyes opening. His gaze was cold and hard, a look that would have been familiar and close to someone disapproving of a pupilâs actions.
âI hear your terms, Raven.â In those words were a ghost of the person he once was, before his normal tone came back in. âI can feel that the man you knew me as was tied to Ozpin. Call it what you want. But in this life, I have been under many people. My father. Cinder and âMother.â Ozpin. One of them is dead. Another I thought was dead. And two still out there scheming without me.
âI was raised to be a warrior, a servant. A meat shield, to be thrown away. Ozpin may have pulled me away from that, but I owe him no loyalty. Just as I owe no loyalty to the council and hunters of this world. I am done with being a tool to others. Not to Salem, not to Ozpin, and not to you.â His head tilted up slightly, a heavy frown forming on his lips.
âI have one more target in mind, to square off my business. If that gains your ire and we must fight, so be it. But I will hear you out for now. As you said, for old times sake.â
âYou wonât hear any arguments from me. Being loyal only to yourself is one of the primary tenets of the Branwen Tribe.â
A hypocritical one, granted, seeing as how they all listened to Raven. Then again, Raven made it clear that she had everyoneâs best interests at heart with how she stayed just barely out of reach of huntsmen and avoided the ire of Salem. Not that lowly tribesmen knew the secrets Raven possessed. Her and Qrow were the only living members that knew the majority of Ozpinâs secrets...
âAlthough, I do remember you not minding being a tool to me for some things. But yes, I can respect you being your own man. In fact, the information I have is essential for your survival. Come. Iâll get us some tea.â
Raven motioned for them to go into another section of her tent away from her sleeping area, wondering if she shouldnât get their cooks to put together something for them.
